We need help this season. I'd stay away from Lavertu if he has eligibility. Go with the player that can help us now. I don't think we can go wrong with Matthias Goosen if the Bombers are set on picking an offensive lineman. With the second pick we have to find a guy who can play. Especially after last year's draft & Andy Mulamba. I thought the draft rules were changed to stop this from happening? Why are players with eligibility left even in the draft? Let them finish CIS first.

Khabibulin is too old but teams kept giving him contracts. I guess he was still barely good enough to play but he should have called it quits years ago.

I'm in Calgary but I don't glow in the dark yet.

More $$ in their pockets.

Why would he be looking to trade Westerman? Because he told Wally he won't be extendingNot quite. He told Wally he didn't want to extend right now... not that he wouldn't consider it in the future. He probably wants to use this year to prove himself as a starter and get starter's money, which I'm sure Wally isn't offering at the moment. Or he might want to wait for the new CBA. Or maybe not.
-
Back in his prime, I'd assume. Not now. Is he even still playing? Where did he go after Edmonton?
-
True, Bob was a darn good goaltender. When he played saving shots wasn't the problem on most nights as he was rock steady. I'd put him up there with Khabibulin when he played for us in his prime. Oh wait, this is Phoenix we're talking about now... Not the Jets. How ridiculous is that? The Jets records prior to 1996 should be given back to us & let Phoenix have their records from then on. And merge the Thrashers & Jets 1.0 records together... No one in Phoenix cares about Anders Hedberg or Dale Hawerchuk. Sorry, I digress. Good thing this board isn't run by Shankman

You know, you'd think the Japanese would have known this but I bet it was done that way to save money... The hell with safety.

I think he deserves one more season.... If we're having this discussion a year from now then the Jets have to act.

Win If You Can, Lose If You Must, But Always Cheat
iso_55 replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Thanks for the story. It's clear that Chris Hansen in Seattle is so so about hockey but knows the key to a successful arena is having dates that are being used & hockey would supply an additional minimum of 42 dates a year which would make the new arena very profitable. I think he needs the NHL more than he wants to admit. I think he's crazy not to want to own 2 different teams if he can to maximize profits in that new arena. Clearly an NHL team can't survive in the Key Arena for more than a year or two with only 11,000 seats suitable for hockey. Everything is on hold looks like until the NBA is good & ready to come back to Seattle. -
The Japanese were stupid to put a nuclear reactor so close to where a Tsunami damaged it. It's still leaking nuclear waste...

Hey johnzo, Think Seattle is going to get an NHL team? -
Disappointed more than surprised, I would say. At least from my perspective.

Most of those vets were either unsigned or available at a bargain... Maybe they overpaid for JJ - but I don't see anyone that they are breaking the bank for Nah, he may have got some for a bargain but I'd think the majority he has paid top dollar for.
-
Yes, it does. But these are veteran players who will get top dollar. Some of them are pretty old & have seen better days. I don't know Desjardins long term plan to build an actual winner.I think he'll be up against the cap because he hasn't showed sign s of trying to be responsible financially as a GM. Id salaries go up he'll be directly responsible.
-
Okay, so searched & came up with these names. I may have missed some players. These are all veteran players & will command top salaries as compared to rookie free agent signings...Of course, there was qb Hank Burris as we all know. Along with the disgruntled qb Kevin Glenn & Thomas DeMarco who were selected both in the expansion draft. Other CFL veteran free agent signings have been LB TJ Hill, LB Brandon Lang, LB Malik Jackson, LB Kevin Scott, SB Matt Carter, SB Aaron Hargreaves, K Derek Schiavone, K Justin Palardy & DB Bo Smith. They traded for Stamps DT Justin Phillips & of course their drafted players from the expansion draft. A lot of money tied up in all of these these players. Good luck to the redblacks.
-
They've thrown a lot of money at older veteran CFL players either at the start of free agency on February 11th or players that have been released after that. If there was a site that named the players signed, I'd give them to you.
-
The redblacks are throwing money around like they think the cap for salaries is going to be raised substantially. I mean, who haven't they signed? To me, they're pretty financially irresponsible. I mean, they've hired Marcel Desjardins as GM from the Als who overspent on players like Casey printers in Hamilton & was eventually run out of town. And now he's back as redblacks GM & spending like a finance minister from Quebec. And the fanbase in Ottawa has responded by only buying 14,000 season tickets. Give it a couple of years & they'll be in trouble. AGAIN.

Evander Kane Being Sued by BC Man for Alleged Assault

Like to know why Kane would out of the blue jump a stranger... I guess the details will come out in court as to how this alleged incident took place. -

Obby is a businessman. Good for him. He's a BC boy (isn't he?) who made Winnipeg his home. -
Then why don't more people actually score 30 goals? How DO they get the caramel in a Cadbury Caramilk bar?

Deleted...

Let's ask Justin what middle class restaurants he frequents in Montreal? -
They were like this when I moved away 24 years ago. Constant commercials & 'Let's take a break, Let's take a break" with 7 minutes of commercials, four minutes of content over & over. The break that drives me nuts is to take it at 10 minutes to the hour, come back at 3 minutes to the hour, have a minute of content then break to commercials with a minute to go followed by the news & more commercials after the news till they come back... That's the way CJOB used to be over 20 years ago. Guess things haven't changed. Back then, that was the format for 90 minutes with the Football Hot Line Show hosted by Bob Irving with Jack Matheson.
-
I don't think gbill's comments were inappropriate. He just made a comment. He wasn't saying anything bad about Bob. CJOB should commit to a better game day experience for the fans. Not too much to ask.
