Glad I left my 10 foot pole at home.

A bit of both. Bob Irving is close to retirement and he disappears in the winter months (partial retirement already) so it wouldn't surprise me. He is the sports director though, so I'm sure he has say in how long the post game show is. Knowing Bomber fans they'd call in till 4am after a game to voice their opinion. I'm sure they would. I'm just surprised at how CJOB has cut corners on its Bomber game day coverage compared to CHQR out here. Out here, a studio host & guest handles the call in portion of the show, after saying good night to the broadcast crew.

I want to talk about something that really grinds my gears

Ten years ago, I was in Edmonton with my then 13 year old son & 2 of his friends along with their dads for a football clinic at the U of AB.. The first evening after the clinic had finished, we were at the west Edmonton Mall to take them to the water park & go for dinner. They have Hooters there. The boys all wanted to go to Hooters for dinner. And even at 13, they liked the ladies serving the customers. We all knew what our wives would have done to us had we gone there with our kids so we took them to another restaurant instead. -
Is that a serious response or tongue in cheek?

Living in Calgary, I've listened to CJOB & I think the football broadcasts on CJOB being the Bomber rights holder aren't as good as they should be. The ongoing decision to use different analysts on road games has me wondering why the station went in that direction. The station can't afford to pay for 2 hotel rooms on the road, what? In Calgary on 770 CHQR, the same two people in the booth have been doing all Stampeder home & away games now for 19 years. They have a pre game show that goes an hour prior & a post game show with callers that is usually 90 minutes in length. Last year, a couple of times I listened once after a Bomber home game that I attended on my car radio & once online where they cancelled the call in portion of the broadcast saying they didn't have enough time & the other time shortened the call in portion, again because of time constraints. They never do that in Calgary. The format is always the same. Both are Corus radio stations so I wonder why that happens?

I think Kane had injury problems this season so to be fair let's judge his contract after 1 more season. If he pots 15 goals next year then there'll be plenty of discussion. I don't think we trade the guy. He's young & still has lots of potential.

Okay I got pwned.I admit.

No, you can.

That's actually funny.I wasn't aware you were unfamiliar with the actual phrase, "Who was....". It's funny how two guys made the same joke and you didn't pick up on that either time. Probably because I was too dull to pick it up.... **** happens!

C'mon, no love for Chicken On The Way?? It's one of the least healthy things I've ever had, but as far as greasy chicken and a mountain of fries goes, it's solid every time... C'mon, no love for Chicken On The Way?? It's one of the least healthy things I've ever had, but as far as greasy chicken and a mountain of fries goes, it's solid every time... Honestly, lived here for 24 years & I never had it... I'll take your word for it, though. -
Exactly. And if you ask me, anonymous posters quoting OTHER anonymous people trashing someone's personality holds exactly zero credibility with me. Things didn't work out with the Bombers but he was obviously a very good radio exec so I hope he bounces back & does well wherever he goes. I have no ill will towards him.

Maybe Ford wanted to change his vote. Pressed the wrong button you know. It's hard to hit the right one with the shakes or when he can't see the button. .

I don't know what to expect Peter to say. Most of us don't know the players or the business market involved.

Win If You Can, Lose If You Must, But Always Cheat
iso_55 replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
but this isn't really the point. If those angry fans stop going but come back when the team wins doesn't that hammer home the point that fans just want to see wins? The question is about cheering for losses, no one who is a fan does that. It can be interpreted both ways. Fans stay away are angry so they won't buy tickets. Fans buy tickets because the team wins. No,I don't cheer for losses either but I do understand when some fans get so fed up with losing that after a loss they say good. -

Win If You Can, Lose If You Must, But Always Cheat
iso_55 replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Hey,I don't cheer for my teams to lose. I've been a fan for half a century with the Bombers. If I did cheer for them to lose, I'd have given up on them long ago. I'm just saying at some point people get angry with the product & get turned off. Look at attendance for a losing team. Are they bad fans for not going to games? I'd bet most aren't. -

Yep. That's it. It also has to be pretty bleak... Like last football season for fans to feel that way. So, if the Bombers had rattled off 3 straight victories at the end last season & they kept Burke as HC would people be cheering? -

Then 99.999% of fans at one time or another have been or are bad fans. -

No, I didn't. You said what you said. Own up to it. Don't deny your statement was meant to be something else. If I cheer for my team to lose to get a higher draft pick or a coaching change after they are mired in last place I'm no worse of a fan than you are if you want them to win every game. You're just a mindless sucker then in my opinion. -
Gosh look at that temp drop after 2000. Hockey stick.

Neil Young can go shove it. Maybe he should have told his bus drivers to turn off their diesel engines when they were idling for hours when he had his concert here in Calgary this past January.

Ollie has played 2 fairly well seasons for us coming off a strong year in Calgary in 2011. We need his leadership & puck skills. he also doesn't mail it in as often as he used to. His first season in Calgary on his 2nd go round was not good. He was booed on the ice & a lightning rod for fans & media. But he's changed. Useful player to have. Kane. You don't trade Kane.

Bob Wylie to be new O-Line coach - Confirmed
iso_55 replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
There are OL coaches that are Offensive Coordinators (run game) & then OC"s (passing game) on the same team. The game preparation is actually split up & not prepared by just one coach. Maybe that's the role he has... More input into the offense & what to call with the blocking schemes for the run game with the Bombers.I mean, just speculating on my part.
