Because in both scenarios - a person is dead. Yet when someone has served their sentence for vehicular homicide they are released - and it's usually not all over the news and we don't have MP's calling for appeals. Can't have it both ways. That is a ridiculous analogy. I don't know how much more you can twist your logic & still be serious? Do you think there's a chance Craig McTavish is going to go out & behead or eat someone tonight?

The mastery of Marcel Desjardins continues...

Other team's scraps? I wish we could have the scraps he has. If he can't win then he's truly a POS GM. -

Screw Burris. I hope he has the crappiest receiving corps in the league. -
Mark, how can you possibly compare that to a guy beheading another person & eating him??? No, you can't guarantee anything which is why Li should be locked up for the rest of his life. I totally agree with 17 when he says if you're crazy, you're crazy & why be politically correct about it? The man is looney tunes & will always be a risk to society.

After that train wreck of a season in 2009 it's amazing that Kelly can still be hired as a head coach.
-
Or people on hallucinogenic drugs (for example). I don't even want to think of the crazy people (not mentally crazy, but insane/murderous etc) that have gotten released once they serve his time. I highly, HIGHLY doubt doctors (you know, medically trained professionals....) would release he was at even a low risk to reoffend. Can you be absolutely sure? You can't.

Like I said, let these experts be accountable. If they were. I betcha half the people let out deemed safe wouldn't be. And HCB, this whole discussion relates to public safety. That is why we're discussing this & the amazement by most of us that a man who did what he did can be let out on unescorted passes into the community barely 5 years after beheading & eating his victim. Was it you who accused people here of hating mental patients? If you were, you can't be more wrong.

I heard Gary on being interviewed by CJOB's Jim Toth the day after he was fired. He was gracious, classy & didn't have a bad word to say about the Bombers, the city or fans. He didn't have to come on the radio so my opinion of the man changed after hearing him. He truly was sorry he couldn't make things work as OC.

Like I said, if Li reoffends in any way the so called experts, the doctors, the board members & the lawyers who cleared him to go out into society because they say he is a model patient/prisoner showing great promise need to be the ones who are held accountable in civil & criminal courts. If they are so sure then let them stick their necks out to the point where they can be sued & or jailed if something bad happens. I agree this guy should never see the light of day on his own anymore. And this isn't hating mental patients as someone here is trying to paint this which is completely ridiculous. This is about public safety.

No one hates the mentally ill. There is a fear this guy will reoffend & kill someone. To me, that's legitimate.

As long... Can you guarantee he'll stay on his meds? In 1988, I was a Unit Assistant at the Health Sciences Centre. I came on duty at 0600. I was assigned to the Emergency Dept for my shift. There was a guy in restraints tied to a bed down the hallway from the nursing station. He had come in a few hours earlier that night. He was schizophrenic. Apparently his dumb ass girlfriend convinced him he didn't need to take his meds anymore & now he was supposedly hearing voices & seeing things. He created a ruckus in Emergency & injured 2 security guards before he was overpowered & put into restraints. My job was to stay with him that room all by myself & make sure he wasn't able to do any more harm. I wanted the guy to sleep through my whole shift. Pretty scary scenario if he ever got out of his restraints. They were in the midst of transferring him to the Psych Ward at St Boniface Hospital when I came on duty. I watched him for about 4 hours before he was taken away. That was a schizophrenic who was off his meds & injured 2 security guards, one pretty severely who needed to be hospitalized. What if Li does the same thing & goes off his meds? At first I had a reaction similar to yours. But now I don't agree. He committed a horrible crime, but he was found not responsible. If he's found not responsible and by all accounts, he's been a model patient within the hospital and someone with a ton of remorse for what has happened ... I say as long as he's in care, he's welcome to certain freedoms. Comments deleted.

Same... But then I'm old anyway & I revel in chasing kids off my lawn.

That has nothing to do with anything, Mark. Like it hasn't happened before? An offender reoffends even when the expert think they won't? This is about public safety. What he did was horrific. I think people that make decisions like this need to be held accountable if something bad happens. I mean, they have the training, right?
-
All the more reason if he kills again they should be criminally responsible as they made this choice based on their training.
-
Will the doctors or the board that is releasing him into the public going to be criminally responsible if he kills someone again? No, that never happens.

Unfuckingbelievable.....

Interesting comments. I do think it's harder to make friends in Calgary. People aren't as open as say they are in Winnipeg. More about the money you make, job you have, vehicle you drive & house you live in... rather than the person you are... Money, money, money, money, money. Work, work, work, work, work. -
I doubt Boatman spends any time reading our comments, Dr CFL.

Gary Crowton is a successful NCAA coach. I'm sure he'll do well. The guy was in over his head here having to adapt to the differences in the 3 down as compared to 4 down game. I wish him all the best.

He could get a job as a turnstile at a rock concert.

Kirk Penton tweeted that Shannon Boatman has been released.

Mr. Perfect, I guess what I'm saying is Wade Miller made it sound like we'd come out guns blazing on Feb 11th. That we wouldn't recognize the team, remember? We signed Nick Moore which was great. But we have the most holes of any team to fill. Yes, we've had better off seasons than BC & Sask, I agree. But we haven't had a better off season than Hamilton or Ottawa. In order for us to compete in the tough Western Conference we had to have not just a pretty good to great off season, we needed to have a very good to excellent off season. We just have so many holes to fill. My perspective will change if we sign McCune because the guy is a hard nosed MLB who will help our defense be a lot more physical than it was last season. I'm happy with what we've done so far. I just expected a lot more.

Same thing every time with you. Why aren't you ripping BC? They struck out on every player they wanted. Rip Saskatchewan for losing Sanders, Butler and Schmitt. Every time someone signs in this league, another team or more loess out. Get used to it. No team gets everybody they want. Rip Wally? Winningest coach in CFL history & uber successful GM? Walters & O'Shea only hope to win half as many games as Buono has the past 25 years. Sask built their team to win a GC at home & now they're up against the cap. Their 1 year gamble paid off. Somehow I knew you'd come after me even though everyone else kept the discussion civil. Why don't you just hit ignore if you find peoples comments not to your liking all the time? I won't miss you. You won't miss me. So,please, go ahead.. You're always getting PO'd about something.

Playoff money my man, it matters to FAs in a lot of cases too. Yeah maybe Winnipeg and Hamilton offered the same money, but if you want to plan on getting some playoff money as well isn't Hamilton playing in a 4 team division with an expansion team more likely to hit the playoffs than Winnipeg in a 5 team and very tough western division? Until this franchise stabilizes itself you gotta expect free agents to be leery of coming here. I agree with everything you say. It's frustrating as hell. I honestly think we have to overpay. That's just the way it is. In order to win games, we have to do business like that. Staying the course won't work. Once the team improves we can be a bit more prudent but initially, no.
