Guys, I'm just sayin'. Tired of losing. Tired of always being "years away" from having a good team. Miller promised us we'd be aggressive signing free agent players. Walters toned it down before FA started by saying we'd be active which had me concerned. There always seems to be a ready excuse for as to why we didn't sign someone. Hank was classic. He signed with Ottawa because he wanted his cousins to come watch him play. What a bunch of bullshit. Typical Hank.

That stadium is only 50% completed. Read that somewhere...

What do I want the Bombers to do? Quit coming in second with so many free agents. I expected us to be way more aggressive than we have been. In the CFL, it's all about the money because no one makes multi million dollar guaranteed contracts. It's not like the NHL where players sign "Home Discounts" to stay with a team for less money than the open market because their contracts are already very high to begin with. CFL players will go where the money is because they have such a short career span to play. If one team offers more $$ players usually go. I'm not talking five grand, I mean substantial like $10,000 or $20,000 a year or more. So, this talk about us offering players more money yet they won't sign here, I have a hard time believing it. Maybe the odd one like Burris who got the CFL equivalent of the moon but more than one player like Butler, Collaros & even maybe now McCune? I don't believe it. Like I said, I believe we have an idea of what we'll pay & won't go over that amount one cent. Last year we were substantially under the cap from what I read & where did that get us?

It was reported the Bombers had the highest offer in for Craig Butler. Alexander also said the Bombers made the best offer of multiple offers. Many feel the Bombers overpaid for Nick Moore. Those are just a few examples. Can't always control where a player decides to sign. I think we just draw a line in the sand & say that's it money wise when we could do more. And we don't. That's how I am reading this. We were told we'd be aggressive in FA & to an extent we are. But let's face it, Hamilton has been very aggressive doing things I thought we'd be doing. It's very frustrating. We need a guy like McCune to shore up our MLB position & bring a lot of toughness. Instead, we'll have some cheaper rookie inside getting torched.
-
Why are we losing out on so many players that could fill holes & make us competitive (like McCune if he signs elsewhere) when we are supposedly flush with money? Are we cheaping out again? Other teams can sign these players but we can't. It's always about the money, it seems. We give a "final offer" & sit back & someone signs a player or a coach we want right in front of our frigging noses. I'm beginning to think things haven't changed & the excuses will be starting real soon. Well, they already have... What a crappy off season.

Are we following you?

LaPo better not turn down too many jobs in a 9 team league or the phone will stop ringing.

What happened to Robert McCune supposedly coming here? Anything?

Talk to my wife & family. Then get back to me. My youngest son was born in Calgary. My oldest only lived in Winnipeg the first 3 1/2 years of his life & he's now 27. And he is now married to a Calgary girl. My youngest plays at SFU & will probably end up staying on the West Coast. No way we'll move farther away from him when we don't have to. Getting to a couple of Bomber home games a year is going to be the best I can do. Ironic that a job offer I received in the insurance industry brought my wife, my oldest son & I to Calgary in 1990. Now, she has a high paying job & makes more than I do. Coming back to Winnipeg ain't gonna happen.

Another loss for the Riders. This is getting comical.... It CAN'T get funny enough. ON CHQR in Calgary Sanders was interviewed tonight. He was asked why he signed with the Stamps. He said he felt the Stamps gave him a better chance to win the GC than the Riders. Burrrn!

Eskimos release Alexander (Now Signed with the Bombers)

We need to sign Canadian players & upgrade. Like mud thrown against a wall, some it is going to stick. So, keep the signings coming. -
I can't wait for the first time a ref makes a call that Higgins doesn't like. How will he handle it on the sidelines?
-
Move back to Winnipeg, then you can just drive by If only life was that simple.

I miss the construction cam at IGF. Too bad they couldn't have permanently mounted it just so when fans are in the mood they can click on & look at the stadium....

Bombers name Gene Dahlquist as new QB coach
iso_55 replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
My son goes down to San Francisco a couple of times a year to work with a qb coach in the Bay Area named Roger Theder. He is the same age as Dahlquist & has been coaching for just as long. Roger is the former HC of the University of California at Berkley. Roger has worked with NFL qbs like Steve Bartkowski, has coached NCAA qbs in the past, up until last year he also worked in Atlanta for 2 months prepping players like RG 3, Brandon Wheedon & Russell Wilson for the NFL Combine. He coached Colin Kaepernick privately in the Bay Area when he was growing up & in an article I read recently he is credited from changing Kaepernick from a classic drop back stay in the pocket passer in high school to the style of qb he is now. Like Dahlquist, his resume is a who's who of qbs past & present in the NCAA & NFL. Roger is a man of high energy. Never stands in one place more than a few seconds, always moving around, talking, clapping his hands & critiquing throws. My son is 23 & he loves working with the guy. They get along great & the 50 years in age difference doesn't mean anything. He told me he gets more out of a 2 hour session with Roger than any other qb coach he's ever had before. That's why he keeps going back. Roger coaches qbs in the Bay Area 3 or 4 times a week year round. You'd never know he's in his 70's. I think working with young qbs helps to keep him young at heart. He is still passionate about football He gets everyone else around him fired up. That's why I'm not concerned about Dahlquist relating to our qbs. If they respect him & he is a good communicator, which I think he is, the age difference shouldn't mean too much. -
Jeffrey Bannon's house nearly completely destroyed last night

All I meant was I found what happened disturbing. And that it could happen to someone without warning behind the wheel & cause a catastrophy where innocent people could get killed. -

Don't say crazy as some people here will take offense to that description. That's worse than saying disturbing. -

Yeah exactly, what you say is bang on. -

You might be "someone like that". As could you. -

I don't think he was commenting on your use of the word "disturbing" but the "people like that" part as in "people like who?" That's my interpretation of what he said - not my question. Simply, people with known & unknown health issues. That something bad can happen behind the wheel just like that. I'd be interested in knowing if speed had anything to do with what happened. -
Bombers name Gene Dahlquist as new QB coach

Look past his age, this is a great hire. -
If the NHL doesn't participate in the Winter Olympics in 2018 that will be a major downer. Especially if the KHL lets their Russian players participate as we'll be lucky for Canada to finish in the Top 5 like it used to be.

We have an experienced qb coach. I think he will be fine. He's not an OC like Crowton was so it's all good.
