Popp's always seems to be casting feelers south with NFL interest every year. Perhaps Wettenhal soured on him for that reason. He always seems to be looking like he's just biding time with the ALs until someone gives him a job. Even if it is the **** show in Cleveland as he'd take it. .Not saying Popp shouldn't be looking but I think after awhile an employer would tire of this every year. MAYBE.... just sayin' here.... (in speculation)... Maybe... Wettenhal feels that Popp only wants loyalty one way. The way it suits him best. I think there's always 2 sides to the story.

Jeffrey Bannon's house nearly completely destroyed last night
iso_55 replied to ALuCsRED's topic in General Discussion
There are people driving around with issues they either know or don't know about. That is what is disturbing. Any one of us, a family member or a friend could be killed tomorrow by someone like that. That's my point. -

Give me a break, Brandon. Yeah, I tell ya, when I said disturbing, it was just a hugely blatant, horrible, intolerant & insensitive statement. How could I have said such a thing? Sheesh. You sure like to twist things around. C'mon, you don't find it disturbing that Bannon's family could have all been killed if they were home??? Maybe next time it's you or your family crossing the street. Or watching tv at home. The Bannons were so fortunate that no one was home at the time. -
Etcheverry announced as Defensive Coordinator (finally)

Like I said nothing's a given. You just can't expect it. Sure you may find a running back eventually but that doesn't mean you'll find one every year. Our backs last year didn't light a lot of fires. Before Kory Sheets the Riders running back situation wasn't great. It was just okay. Edmonton didn't have much of a running game last year. I'm just sayin'... -

Until we actually find one, I'd be concerned. Since 1971 we've had Don Jonas, Dieter Brock, Tom Clements, Tom Burgess, Matt Dunigan, Khari Jones & Kevin Glenn but nothing since. if this was 2007 we'd be saying we can easily find a qb. Nothing's a given. -

I dunno. It's disturbing knowing there are people like that behind the wheel. -
Some dude wants the Ti Cats to play their home games in Buffalo? What an idiot. Two weeks behind. I've heard two months. Zontar, what's the scoop?

How can someone NOT be charged for something like that? Medical condition or not. Like, oh no problem. You tore up a guy's house with your car. Not a big deal. -
You do know what paisano means right? You're basically calling Wally your buddy. Also, I'm with Atomic. Not sure that Alex Hall + 2nd round trade was worth it. He could be my buddy. I'm not in the CFL so he can't fire me.

A Look at the Blue Bombers Offensive Line

You can sum up Shannon Boatman's play after every snap. 'DOH'! -
Gold for our Men's hockey team this morning. One of the most dominating performances I've ever seen on the world stage by any country's hockey team. Glad Crosby finally scored. As the game was winding down I began to think of the 1972 Canada-Soviet hockey series & all the **** that team took from the Russians in Moscow by trying to manipulate the series to their advantage when Canada finally pulled out the series victory with Henderson's winning goal. Most of you probably weren't alive to witness that game but have seen the goal. I bet the surviving members of that team are elated we won a gold medal on Russian soil.

No way Benevides is behind all these moves. This is all Wally. He's cutthroat. That innocent little Paisano smile he has belies a man who has hidden ice veins when dealing with players & coaches after he no longer feels they can win for him. Seen this before in Calgary. Surprised it took him so long.

That does make sense except when you stop to consider that NFL teams carry 20 assistants yet the message on the good teams doesn't get muddled or confused. As far as preventing any confusion, it's up to the HC to make sure all lines of conmunication are clear & open. if there is confusion then he has to take responsibility for that. How can an OC who is busy calling plays & coordinating his offense on game day have the time needed to coach up his qbs or help them if they need it on the sidelines? He can't. Maybe if your qb is Ricky Ray he doesn't need any help but not Max Hall. Sad how the veteran Ray had a dedicated qb coach but the rookie Hall didn't. The most important position on the the team with 3 young qbs that had little or no playing experience & Tim Burke didn't think it was important enough to have a dedicated qb coach. Or perhaps it was Joe Mack who wouldn't let him hire one. We'll never know about that one. The Bombers always take the cheap route so it doesn't surprise me if Mack or BOD felt that they could get by with 1, 2 or 3 less coaches than anyone else just to save a few bucks. We can only hope those days are finally over. -

Six? How about 2. In Winnipeg, Bud Grant had Joe Zaleski & Johnny Michaels as his assistants. I'd think back in the 50's & 60's zone defenses were just coming in so the teams played mostly man coverage. On offense, I'm sure the Bombers had only 20 plays tops in their playbook. SIxty five per cent run. Ploen called his own plays. Two assistants could run things. -
Virtual View Of McMahon Stadium & ST Price Comparison
iso_55 replied to iso_55's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Don't agree, Noeller. I've lived here too long to know that's not true. The Hitmen are #3 in popularity with the Stamps #2. But people aren't buying tickets to the games at McMahon for 2 reasons. The stadium is old. Two, the high ticket price for walkups. People like the Hitmen but the crowds that go there are mostly parents with little kids just starting hockey with tickets being family affordable. (Something the CFL is not anymore). The Roughnecks? Well I'm surprised that pro lacrosse in Calgary has lasted as long as it has. Not a lot of people care. The NFL will never come to Calgary, neither will the NBA or MLB. People know that so the desire to be a big league city isn't there. Calgary sports fans here know with the NHL, it is as big of a big league city as it's going to get. There's never been any talk of trying to get an NFL or NBA team from any politician or business leader. They'd be laughed at. -

Are you talking about rig pig types? Always found it weird that cities so far away from NFL cities would only care about the NFL. It's not like it's an option to drive to one of those cities to catch a game. Well, I guess it is if you want to drive 12 hours from Calgary to Seattle or 15 hours from Edmonton to Seattle. I guess I can understand it for places like Vancouver, Hamilton, Toronto which have the NFL right at their doorstep, and to a lesser degree, Montreal, Winnipeg, Ottawa which have the NFL within reasonable driving distance. Just weird that a place like Calgary would have so many people that care about the NFL when it's not a reasonable option to view in-person. I wonder if all the inter-provincial migration and migration from other countries that is factoring in static or declining attendance in Calgary. People from other countries don't understand nor care about football so they choose not to go. And people from other provinces either didn't care about the CFL to begin with or choose not to support the Stamps, instead keeping their loyalties with their old hometown. I've lived in Calgary for a long time & I think 17's comments are over the top. We like the NFL as much as any other city. But we aren't NFL wannabees. The NHL hurts CFL teams because they are competing for the sports dollar & there is just so much to go around. Not many people can afford Stamps & Flames season tickets. The media is constantly following the Flames. The Stamps though, don't do much to help themselves in the winter marketing their team as they always hang a sign on their corporate office doors after the season that says, "See You In Six Months". They become invisible. This season has been busier with the expansion draft & all the coaches moving around but generally a normal CFL off season in Calgary means virtually zero activity. The team can go weeks without being in the media., -
