Why do you say that? Penton's article says the Bombers are interested. Media was saying yesterday that Walters was done signing free agents.
-
McCune is a beast. He is an outstanding linebacker stopping the run but sometimes struggles with his pass responsibilities. He doesn't have the range of Henoc Muamba but he still would be a great pick up. Doesn't look like Walters is interested. He will either replace from within or bring in someone new.

Wally completely turned over the team that won the GC in 1998 & lost to the Ti Cats in 99. if there were 6 players left from that 98 team in 2002 I'd be surprised. That was his decision to do that. Even thought the Stamps won the GC in 2001, he continued to cut or let his players go to FA because he just didn't want to pay. That craptacular 2002 Stampeder team was all his doing. His philosophy of 'younger & cheaper" finally caught up with him that year. What happened with the Lions this off season we saw in Calgary every year he was GM in the 90's & early 2000's. He used to shrug off the players he released saying he could find someone as good or better for a cheaper price. Where did those players go though? Most of them were basically done. The big thing was that they lost all their QB's to the NFL, Garcia and Dickenson, lost Burris to Saskatchewan because he wasn't going to play with Dickenson entrenched in 2000, then he left for the NFL too. Remember this was an ongoing saga every off season. Very few free agents re-signed in Calgary under Wally. There was free agency back then like today & a lot of them went & played elsewhere. I remember over 10 years ago, I sat down & counted the number of players that were on the team beginning in 1999 & gone by the start of the 2001 season & it was somewhere between 22-26 players. And it just continued into the 2002 season where finally the team just tanked. Older players were released yes, but there also players who were starters in their primes but in their late 20's that were also let go when their contracts were up. I remember an all star defensive back left Calgary very upset, signed in Saskatchewan & played there for years after at an all star level. He was upset that Wally wouldn't match Saskatchewan's offer that was $5,000 more per season. A couple of ex players ripped Wally publicly over the way he treated them & other players. back then. There was no social media in 2001 so for them to comment on it publicly was a big deal. Similar to the so called Glenn tweet on Tuesday calling the RedBlacks snakes.

Word is, he hangs out at Riderfans now causing the fans blood pressure there collectively to go up over there. And I think it's great if he can rile up Rider fans I say it's all good. He doesn't seem to post on any Stampeder forums anymore.

Jim Daley's time his past. His last stint as a special teams coordinator was woeful to say the least. That being said, here's more news if you will about the Argos coaching staff... Kirk Penton @PentonKirk 28s Casey Creehan and Will Plemons both on #Argos new coaching staff under DC Tim Burke. #Bombers Burke implied and sometimes even more than implied it was our lack of talent for our woes. I guess he and Creehan get a second kick at the can with the Argo's defense. So, if the Argo defense shites the bed this year, or at the very least regress from what they achieved last year, is it now on them or can they continue to use the lack of talent reason (excuse to some)? Or will they come up with another explanation, new system, players left, injuries, head coach etc etc? Burke saying it's all about talent is a cop out. Of course, it's all about talent. A coach's IQ goes way up if he has guys that are smart & talented as opposed to players that aren't.

Receiver Jim Thorpe wore #5 during the 1972 season after switching from #34. That's the earliest recollection I have of any Bomber player wearing that number. Anyone before then?

Where's a little devil when you need it?

Never hired Mack.

Wally would cut his mother to save a dollar. He is cutthroat. He's been GM in BC almost as long as in Calgary when he was cutting veterans left & right thinking someone younger & cheaper could play & he finished last in the West in 2002. He might be nearing the end of the road in the CFL & looking to retirement in the next couple of years.
-
So now no one wants to play in BC? Too much rain.

I didn't know giving a C+ was considered being negative.
-
Happy Birthday to "Diet The Treat" but he's not the original number 5...
-
I gave them a C+. I actually thought Walters would be more aggressive than he was & really go after Butler & Bell to continue to address the needs of our secondary. But he went to Hamilton. Josh Bell signed in Calgary today & I thought we'd have been hard on his trail as well. I realize that Walters can't sign everyone but if we could have signed Butler who is a baller would have really been sweet. Walters got Moore which I'm extremely happy with as well as Randle & Willy so I'm okay with it. Glad to see Kohlert back.

I just want to know where Hamilton is getting all this money to sign all these high priced free agents & Expansion draft picks yet aren't over the cap... Isn't that curious in the least?

We can only hope.

Derailed!! Train wreck....

Etcheverry Not confirmed by O'Shea last Friday. He was asked about who would be the DC & he said contracts are in hands. If Etch is holding out, wow.
-
I wonder if Emery would have signed here id Burke would have been our DC? Who is our DC BTW???

We are beginning to see where the SMS is heading.... It's going up.... The new CBA will take care of that.

Jovon Johnson unsure he'll be back with Bombers

Lift? Man, I chuck those suckers no sweat. -
I thought we should have offered Bourke $250,000. He's worth it. He signed before FA started. He was re-signing in Montreal regardless of what any other team offered. Not true. BC confirmed they made Bourke an offer. He was a FA for a few minutes. IIRC they said he signed just before FA started - not enough time for other teams to know he had signed. And even if he was FA for a few minutes, that likely wouldn't have been enough time for his agent to let him know what the other offers were. He missed out on an even bigger payday. Maybe $230-250,000. He must've called Mike Reilly for advice as to what to do.

I'm old school. I don't use any devices when I work out.... -
Bourke wanted to remain in Montreal. Do you think we'd have ante'd up $220,000 to sign him?
-
That was my thoughts as well. Who is better?
