  1. You know the league situation but Hank's agent is talking out of his ass? Okay. You & Jacquie both.
  2. C'mon the candidates all have contracts in hand. It's all good. Sheesh!
  3. I'm not sure about that. If it was a different GM who gave this contract (ie Buono, Hufnagel, Barker) then I would be inclined to agree. Jacquie, the salary cap is going to go up. If it goes up to $5 million it stands to reason that the contracts for qbs will be substantially more. And that teams will carry more than just one qb capable of starting. I heard that entire interview. Hank's agent called the new tv contract "A brave new world". And he said that some GMs see it coming & are preparing while others are not. This is a player agent talking, a guy whose clients include Burris & Ricky Ray. Not some fan talking out of his hat. He knows what will be happening. You can listen to the entire interview on CHQR in their audio vault. Just check the date & time I started this thread as the interview was just about to begin. Jacquie listen for yourself & decide. Matter of fact, I'd encourage everyone to listen. Just remember the time difference. He's still talking out of his ass. There aren't enough qbs in the CFL for teams to carry 2 guys who can start. You know what will happen with more cap room? All contracts will rise, yeah backup qbs will be paid more... but the gap between starting and backup qbs will still be there cause when teams have such issues finding guys who can play a backup on one team will get starting money on another. All you do is shift the current CFL payscale up for everyone and a new equilibrium is reached with things being structured the same. At least you listened to the interview & can form your own opinion. Which is fine.
  4. Jyles wasn't declared to be the starter. Sure he was.
  5. can you imagine the flight from Vancouver to Halifax? They might as well fly a little further & play the game at Wembley Stadium.
  6. Exactly. No one has ever even expressed mild interest in owning a CFL team. The Maritimes are a wasteland of failed AHL teams... No other pro sports have ever been there.
  7. Collaros hasn't been officially declared the starter, and Edmonton put up the pretense that there was a competition between Reilly and Nichols last year. Aside from Mike Reilly immediately naming Lefors the starter, its actually quite rare that a young QB is flat out named the starter before TC even if everyone knows the job is his to lose. You mean Mike Kelly?
  8. I know it's not me. Buh bye Jade.
  9. O'Shea: "Drew Willy is our starting quarterback." Walters: "I think my work here is done".
  10. Take a chance on Anthony Parker maybe ??? I would think that would be pretty accurate. But he's like Etienne. First round pick, same year I think but hasn't done much. But in fairness to him, the Stamps receiving corps is stacked & has been for years so he never really got a fair shot to see what he could do. He could be a real sleeper & a player with some pretty good upside.
  11. Seriously? That's bottom of the barrel, man... why not bring back Hargs instead? Not every signing has to be one worth putting a front page headline on. In our case our talent is so bad I almost think we do. Almost any FA signing should start with "Halleujah! Praise The Lord!! We got another one!!"
  12. A good trait to have as a GM. Said Mike Kelly.
  13. Jacquie, LISTEN to the interview. Wow.
  14. Were terms announced? How much are we paying Willy, I wonder?
  15. I had read somewhere that he was living in Hawaii. I think Adam Rita is there now as well.
  16. It took two pages of their thread before they realized Etienne is a pending FA. It`s amazing how some people's opinion of a player changes when he (potentially) puts on their jersey. My opinion of Jade Etienne hasn't changed just because he's now become a Rider for 5 more days at least. I didn't think much of him as a Bomber in the first place as most of you know. I would have as a third round pick but not a first. Twenty some passes caught in 3 years? Saskatchewan can have him. But as an asset he finally became valuable enough to trade for Willy. So, Etienne became useful finally for something. Tells me that Walters wasn't going to re-sign him. Or he knew he wanted to go to the Riders.
  17. Tate is a better qb than Hall. He would be a major upgrade. But two things, his durability & no way the Stamps part with him unless we pay in the form of starter(s) & our first round draft pick. Plus the Stamps have to be confident that Adrian McPherson can actually go in & has the ability to win games as a starter if BLM gets injured.
  18. Reserve judgement on that statement.
  19. Forzani's foot is not healing well. Talk here in Calgary is that his career may well be over as he's had some kind of major setback. Certainly, if it is not he isn't close to returning.
  20. Being in Calgary the story broke a few days ago that Forzani's foot is not responding well & thinking here is that his career may be over. Certainly he doesn't sound close to returning.

  22. Thankfully, CTV had a slate of new lame Canadian produced ads for the Super Bowl & not one McDonalds commercial that are among the worst on television anywhere.
  23. The norm in the sense that it will be the standard for starting qbs in the CFL. Not just Burris.
