  1. Actually 2 points behind Vancouver - they lost to Boston tonight. Haven't checked the standings. I thought it was four, but I'll take two! Woot!!
  2. Thanks. I think it's a great hire.
  3. Drew Tate. With Glenn gone, he isn't going anywhere.
  4. On another thread, I posted that Chris Gidding, Hank's agent said that the CFL is entering a "brave new world" with the SMS set to go up by maybe by a half million dollars in 2015. He said that some CFL GMs recognize that & are in the process of restructuring & offering players contracts to reflect that reality while others aren't & are trying to get contracts done with the old thinking still in place saying that they'll change when the cap changes come. He said in the future more teams will be signing two qbs capable of starting games & paying both very well. He didn't mention Winnipeg so I don't know if we are in the other category or not. Tells me when Drew Willy comes on the market that his value will go up as well & if we aren't prepared to offer money that some fans think may be outrageous, we'll miss out on him, too.
  5. jets win again.... 9-2 under Maurice. Four points behind Vancouver. No way Noel ever could have got the Jets to even be close to the way they are playing now. Too bad they waited so long to can him.
  6. He'll handle it. Whatever occurs. Not worried.
  7. How old is Bourke.... He's 31. Established in Montreal. Be hard to pry him out... We would have to overpay because he has roots in that city. Can't see that happening.
  8. Giddings called the SMS a "brave new world". He said some GMs are looking at upcoming negotiations as the cap going up... Starting to negotiate that way. Some GMs have a vision for that & others aren't. That they'll deal with it when it happens. Didn't mention that Winnipeg had that mindset but makes you wonder. Giddings said that there will be a logistical problem "dropping the money to the teams" for a dramatic rise in the SMS for 2014. Giddings thinks that this season the SMS cap may go up marginally because of those logistics but in 2015 could go up to $5 million. Talked about player safety. Concussion protocols. Roster size, ratio rules. etc. Giddings wants the rules changed allowing Canadian qbs. Bring back the NFL window. Hurts recruiting.... Winnipeg was never even discussed in the interview.
  9. Giddings said more teas than just Winnipeg were interested. People asked wrong questions... The real question was whether Hank can make a CFL team better. Not at who needs a starting qb. The CFL is now in different situation than ever before because the salary cap is potentially going up. Teams now able to carry two starting qbs salary wise. Ottawa was aggressive. Mentioned RedBlacks owner Brock Sunderland big part of process. It's a 3 year deal. Hank was comfortable with RedBlack ownership group. Well funded owners. Different expansion draft rules allowed Ottawa to get better players, new stadium, great coaching staff allmade Ottawa appealing. Hank closer for his family from the States to come up to watch him play. And Hank liked the idea of being the first ever starting qb for the RBs. Hank respects the players already signed & chosen in the draft.
  10. Giddings... about Burris, his family & Ottawa. Excited about the Ottawa opportunity. Proud to be part of the "Henry Burris Team". He said Hamilton are good guys. That Hank had a good relationship with Austin. But differing opinion on value for Hank. He said, no villains or bad guys. Turned out right way in the end.
  11. Just about to start. Chris Giddings.
  12. How old is Bourke....
  13. Well, I get that Perfect, but he mortgaged the future in that trade. He may never start on the OL.
  14. Pretty run of the mill interview. Short. He was supposed to be on at 7:06 but he didn't call in until after 7:20 pm. So, it lasted about 7 or 8 minutes. Sorry, don't know what happened here.
  15. On CHQR right now. You can go their website to listen. Guess what he said? He is closer to family in the US so he chose Ottawa. And his wife & kids are moving to Ottawa. Said coaching staff had a lot to do with decision. Mentioned Marcus Crandell as his qb coach. And happy to have Jevon Walker in his backfield. Said he texted Kevin Glenn. Said he has a great friendship with Glenn. Wanted to reach out to him. Said Glenn is a pro & understands the business of football. Said Ottawa is a great city. Great local ownership, blah, blah, blah...
  16. Yes, that him.... Hey ISO after looking at his picture, I just have one question, do you and your family "come from France"? No, not France.... Not even Quebec.
  17. Here's the thing. If we trade for Glenn, with starting players & a 1st rounder going the other way to Ottawa, we overpay for the guy anyway. If Walters was so worried about not mortgaging the future, why'd he trade a second round pick for an injured Neufeld? We didn't have to do that. In the long run, it may have been the better move to pay to get Burris here. Does Kyle also think our first round pick won't come into play in a possible trade for a qb? Our future is already mortgaged.
  18. Bad day for the Bombers & it is so frustrating as a fanbase to go through what what we have the past two years & especially the past week. However, I am happy for my son today. He is a quarterback at Simon Fraser University. Jacques Chapdelaine is now officially his new Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator QB Coach. At least I have that to take the sting off the Bomber situation.
  19. It's more likely to be the worst contract since Casey Printers signed with the Ticats. Maybe. The guy is playing on a team not expected to win a GC so he has no pressure to really win. Therefore the fact he signed a huge contract & the team has minimal success will smudge how people ulltimately judge his performance vs what his being paid. Hank's laughing.
  20. At some point our run of bad luck has to end. I never thought I would see a GC in Winnipeg back in the 1980's and then all of a sudden Harold Ballard gifted us Tom Clements. You never know what might fall in your lap in this league. You just have to keep trucking. We had Dieter Brock to deal. Huge difference.
  21. Well then, what? You tell us. Stay the course. Play Hall? Re-up Goltz??? The optimists can say what they want that this is February but bottom line this team is in huge trouble... And I don't mean just on the field. They have to start paying back that huge stadium loan this year. If fans stay away... well the scenario is dire. This is a typical knee jerk reaction of the public. Something bad happens, therefore we should over-react to it. I may be sad/unhappy/let down, that Burris and Collaros didn't sign here, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna run around like a chicken with it's head cut off in a panicked state throwing money at some QB who hasn't proven himself. You gotta keep your head on and keep playing the game, otherwise you're giving everyone the upper hand and all we're going to end up with is even more garbage then last year. You still haven't answered the question... If not Willy, then what?
  22. And who do I see sitting in he reeds out on the left coast? Why it's Wally ready to snap up Kevin Glenn for ohh.... pick anyone he feels he's getting ready to release. Glenn, he's ready to pick up Willy....
  23. The CFL believed stacking an expansion team in a city where teams failed twice & killing another with great fans is the way to go. I hated this expansion draft & the way it was done from the beginning. The CFL thinks we'll always be there for the Bombers. So, this happened. Am I bitter? Yeah & angry, too... Not apologizing for it.
