  1. I came to town for 2 home games last season. The first one in July had 32,000 vs the Argos. The other in mid September vs the Lions had 28,000. Especially vs the Argos with the higher attendance, I never felt cramped or crowded. Able to get around quite easily both times. Where there was a mass of humanity was by the Rum Hut but that was to be expected. Compared to old Canad Inns Stadium & what I'm used to here in Calgary with McMahon Stadium, a facility that is 54 years old now, there was plenty of room at IGF Lots of complaints now about McMahon Stadium. The concourses on the lower level were built for 20,000 fans in 1960 which was the original capacity. The stadium was expanded at one point to 38,000 & still the same number of washrooms as if the place was half the size. Long lineups for concessions & washrooms. If you need a bathroom break then want to stand in line after to get a beer & a burger, it's realistically going to take 30 minutes easy. You got it good, JBR.
  2. Bob Young was on the CJOB pregame show at one point last year tooting his own horn about the stadium in Hamilton and implied that he thought it was going to be better so don't tell me that the sentiment doesn't exist somewhere within the team. I'd take a stadium with more seats between the goal-lines and a functional concourse over one with thousands of seats with poor views, a concourse you can barely move through and beautiful steel arches that look great on postcards. Yeah, I know. That stadium in Regina is gonna suck.
  3. Yeah, Montoya deserves to play more. No question...
  4. I agree with Zontar that know when the renderings were released in Hamilton there was a lot of air let out of the baloon. People were disappointed.
  5. we've been over this before though, it's debatable whether or not the guy is in fact a quality starting OL AND it wasn't just a 2nd round pick, we gave the riders an allstar player to help them on their grey cup run as well. The allstar player should have been enough, this is Brendan Taman we're talking about here. There is no way we were getting a starting NI OL under contract for 2 more seasons for Alex Hall, an import leaving after the season for the NFL. Neufeld was damaged goods. We traded a starting all star D End & a second round pick to get a guy who can't play. So, he's under contract. How do we know he even fully recovers & plays? Get some assets, yes. But get healthy ones. For all the good it did us, Hall should have stayed & played out his contract.
  6. 'Tried' is the key word - when you're signing guys like Boatman and starting them at Right Tackle - it ain't quite workin' out. If you put the "i" before the "r" you get the word tired. That's what Mack was. "Sleepy" Joe. He slept thru free agency every year. He thought that Buck Pierce would start & finish every game. Of course, while he slept through FA, he dreamed the entire "Buck plays every down" thing. Joe is now a Posturepedic mattress salesman at Sleep Country Canada.
  7. What did I miss?
  8. Thank you, Zontar....
  9. No kidding. No other fanbase has been forced to endure the brutality we've seen over the last two+ decades. Other fanbases don't have as much to complain about as we do. Again, we're not hiring the right people if they let fan complaints dictate personnel moves. Get somebody with a good plan and a set of balls who can make a plan & stick to it & maybe the fans will have less to complain about. What stupid things have the fans caused the Bombers to do?? 1. Getting rid of Kevin Glenn - He's been in the playoffs every year since 2006. You can't get to the Grey Cup if you don't make the playoffs. 2. Going back to the west division - Through my lifetime, the rivalvies have been with the East Conference. Why pinball back an forth? Just like with the Jets, I'd rather get home and watch a 6 pm matchup with an east rival than a 9:00 start time against the Lions. I also like the fact of when we got to the Grey Cup, that we were facing the Riders, Stamps and Lions... Moving back to the West Division isn't stupid. Sorry you're so young not to remember Western rivalries. But in the 80 plus years the team has been around, probably 60 of them have been in the West. We're 500 klms from Regina & 1200 from Calgary & Edmonton. How many GC's have we won as the East Division champions? That has nothing to do with the team making decisions on managers players & coaches which is the premise of the discussion.
  10. I don't care. As far as I'm concerned now after what just spewed from his lips...he's defence fodder. Logan's marching off to war. It's a Holy Crusade now!!
  11. Which should be a very real concern. Burris has said himself that he doesn't like to be challenged for his position. He's basically a player that you need to coddle and if you even think about questioning his position on the team he pouts. Not a good team mate or leader. Hell of an athlete but dumber than a stump and very needy. You really have no way of knowing whether what you are spouting is true or not! It may be how you feel about things, but that doesn't make any of it true! ...There's actually a lot of history behind his statement. Burris has proven it in Calgary and in Hamilton, and we've seen it via quotes and things from coaches and teammates... 17 is right. Hank said in the locker room after he played his last game in 2011 for the Stamps that he'd never back up Drew Tate as he said he was better. He was angry losing to the Eskimos in the WDSF. It wasn't the smartest thing to say right after that loss to reporters & the cameras & probably led to Huff deciding to get rid of him. NOW.... that was a totally different situation. In Winnipeg, he'd be the starter. So, I'd more than take the guy as our starter.
  12. Everybody knows THF will not be better than ours. I don't care what he said.
  13. Tells me how bad a coach Noel was. Waited much too long to make a change. We have a slim chance to make the playoffs. We've only lost 2 games under Maurice & we're still last in the Division & 6 points behind Vancouver with a little more than 25 or 26 games left. Going to be very difficult.
  14. That's a great premise but we're too nice. We're the team that eats sand. We don't kick it.
  15. but what if Burris signs elsewhere ???? I can tell you what will be discussed. That pro sports is results oriented & we're not getting the results. That Walters can't sign players. That we are run by inexperienced people at nearly every management & coaching position. That we didn't hire people with enough connections. That we only hire friends. That while the name change, everything still stays the same. It will not be good. That's what will be talked about if Walters & Miller don't sign Hank. It won't be complimentary. Before anyone starts coming after me, I'm not saying that's how I feel. I'm saying that is what I think is going to happen if we keep losing out on players...
  16. Man, I hope Hank signs this afternoon to stop this discussion.
  17. Wasn't meant to be a joke, just a comparable situation. I think he was talking about my comment "You gotta stroke that Willy, stroke him good, then he'll come into the Bomber's folds". http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Little-Willy-lyrics-The-Sweet/596087172C57D9DD48256D750015666A
  18. Nieswander didn't look like a long term starter when he played. Smith sure does, wow. Good luck Hank, if you sign there. If you sit, it'll be your own fault. .
  19. Huh? Remember that play, in the Grey Cup game, where the ball was snapped over Burris's head, and he stood there looking at the centre, instead of chasing after the ball? That's Hank. No, it's Frank. Hank was headed for the hills.
  20. I was about to point out Ritchie, but health issues had a big impact in him leaving. I agree that Berry deserved more time and IMO Lapo at least deserved to finish the season. What's that come down to? Bad people who shouldn't be there making bad decisions.
  21. Here's how I see it: The Bombers hired their buddies. Guys they know. Look at how Kelly got hired. Look at Mack. That's the problem. The best guy isn't hired but friends & former teammates.
  22. By all means dump as he was a POC anyway.
  23. Have there been good people let go, yes. Bauer getting rid of Dave Ritchie, for one. Bauer firing Doug Berry, another... But what does that come down to? Bad people running the show making bad decisions. I'd argue that when Lyle Bauer took over the Bombers in 1999 he did a great job for a number of years but as time went on the team became his little fiefdom as he got more & more powerful. Firing Berry & replacing him with the miserable & paranoid Mike Kelly showed he shouldn't have been running the team as long as he did. Then The BOG's let Bauer resign when he knew he was going to be fired & hired Joe Mack. He could have had Glenn last season but balked on the trade from the Stamps instead relying on a wounded duck of a qb in Pierce which killed this team. Why should Mack have been given more time? He had his chance. .
  24. If Hank goes to Montreal with Troy Smith there or Ottawa with Glenn then we will know exactly just how badly this organization is viewed by others. Maybe the Bombers & Cleveland Browns can break off from their leagues & form a brand new one of their own, Just the 2 of them.
