Penton: Burris likely headed to Winnipeg?
iso_55 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
When you talk hard figures, you should expect to be challenged, especially when you are trying to say it as if it is a fact. There is no right or wrong here. People are just trying to give their best guesses to what they think. In the end, no one really knows what players make anyways, Try not to take it personally and back up your opinions as much as you can. You know, I agree with you. I just don't think that Burris will take a huge pay cut because I believe the Bombers will pay him similar to what he was being paid before because of his veteran status. As far as giving money figures, we all know approximately what he gets paid, so why the need to debate figures? It is what it is. -

You know what, Mike? You're always right & I'm always wrong when it comes to football so from now on I'll just go with whatever you say. I don't know **** when it comes to you, man, How could I have thought what I thought? You're the Alpha Male around here. Sorry, I upset you. You want me to clear all my messages with you first before I post them? -

A starter salary in the CFL for a guy of his experience will be a huge chunk of the salary cap. You think we'll pick him up for $150,000? Not a chance. If the Bombers sign him it won't be for chump change even if you think he has no leverage. I don't think that's how this team does business anymore. As I said, they'll pay him for what befits a guy of his experience should make. Whether that's $300, 350 or $400,000 a year. So, therefore I don't t see the advantage of not going out & making sure we sign Collaros instead of meekly going, "Oh, okay... well we can't match that. Good luck in Hamilton" To me, if the Bombers want to quit being laughed at & disrespected by other coaches, media & fans in the CFL they have to grow a set & go out & make a splash & get the job done here. -
Okay, just did the math on the new stadium for the Roughriders. The City of Regina is taking out a $100 million dollar loan to cover their share of the stadium, the Province of Saskatchewan is putting in $80 million & the Riders $25 million. My math says that is $205 million, well short of the $270 million price tag that was said to be the cost of building a "roof ready stadium". Looks like the project has been scaled back .http://www.thescore.com/cfl/articles/2878585-regina-city-council-outlines-game-plan-for-loan-to-build-new-stadium

Instead of some other team screwing around & beating us to the punch again, just go out & sign Collaros. Pay the guy to come here. Match & better the offer from Hamilton. If the Bombers want Collaros, then ffs go after him & get it done. So sick of this **** where we lose the players we want because we don't pay. Hank will expect starter money here like $400,000 a year so how is signing him any cheaper? -

But if Collaros choses Hamilton then what do we do? Go with Willy and Hall this year? I can't stand Burris either but the one thing I can't stand even more is losing. In all honesty, I would rather go through another year like last year than cheer for Burris. But if Collaros choses Hamilton then what do we do? Go with Willy and Hall this year? Receivers are getting bigger over all. There always were big receivers but there used to be a lot more smaller ones. That seems to be changing. Look at the Stamps receiving corps, Arthur, McDaniel, West & Price all over 6 feet tall. And Lewis at or near 6 feet tall but nearly 250 lbs. I believe the day of the 5'6 corner or db is coming to an end. That's why I'm neither excited or unhappy he re-signed. What did someone call Suber, a foot soldier? Sure, means he's okay but if someone better comes along, he won't be here.

It's just not the grandstand. It's the wiring & plumbing. The elevators, escalators & being able to pass a safety inspection. Then the field... They can't install the new field until all the construction is completed. To lay a new field down takes weeks. Looking a those pics, I just can't see it. Don't forget, that's just one grandstand. The cameras are not streaming the other side.

We could do better. We could do worse. The thing about our defense last season is despite at one point leading the league in sacks on the front end we were getting burned on the back so I think as a group the DBs needs to get a lot better.

When I see what they're building in Hamilton, very thankful for what we have here.... Our stadium is imaginative & innovative in its design. Tim Horton's Field is bleh... Our stadium has nearly 10,000 more seats. The stadium in Ottawa certainly looks interesting but there's a stark contrast between the two grandstands which I don't like. The stadium looks like the architect couldn't make up his mind which design to use so he used both. Plus, the size is too small at 24,000 seats. Yep, like what we got goin' for the Bombers. .

Colin Kaepernick has all the tools physically but he can't read defenses real well. Once he learns that & is able to also become a pocket passer he'll be a great qb. I think the Zone Read Option in the NFL is going the way of the Passenger Pigeon & is becoming extinct like the Wildcat. So too, will qbs who can only play in that type of offense. The qbs that will have longevity will still be the ones who'll beat you with their arms & brains over their legs. Guys like Russell Wilson & Tom Clements extend plays by scrambling around & finding the open man. That seems to be what Zack Collaros is about. Finding a way to make plays work like a young Tom Clements.

So, with our offensive line from 2013.... who would have had a better season? Dieter Brock or Tom Clements? I know my answer... Not Brock.

Best seats at IGF if money were no issue?

Anywhere first 5 rows of upper deck on the 55. -
We never had our grandstands completed either but they were further along than this. This isn't even close. They could miss an entire season. They say they're going to double shift to get it finished on time. We'll see. It takes a couple of months just to do the field....

Think this thing will be ready for the season? Maybe not ready at all this season? Link: http://www.ticats.ca/page/construction-cam

Yeah, Hervey doesn't surprise me. Guys that would surprise me would be Hufnagel, Popp & Buono. Mack too, just because he was too sleepy to notice the FA deadline.

How do you know not all teams tamper? You are assuming that everyone who tampers gets caught, which simply isn't the case. Alright, I'll turn this around & ask you.... How do you know all teams DO tamper? I don't. I assume they all do. If the fine is only $5000, you'd be stupid not to tamper, at least with key FAs you are targeting. Milt Stegall was rumored to be the Bombers "liaison" with free agents, to encourage them to sign with the Bombers once they became a free agent. Okay, but there you go again... Stegall was "rumoured"not proven to be a liason. As with Stegall, you can't say definetly that teams tamper, then don't say they do like the Unknown Poster did as it can't be proven. Truth is, you may be right, I may be wrong or vice versa, I may be right & you wrong. All I know is that if we tamper & sign Collaros & then we lose Muamba to a CFL team in the same way, then we have no right to ***** & complain. And the CFL is nothing but a joke & total **** up as a business. I'm not trying to give you a hard time but you have to back up statements like "Everybody tampers" or "Milt Stegal was rumoured". I can make a statement like Joe Mack was rumoured to waiting with a Half mill a year contract to sign Mike Reilly had he become a free agent. When in reality, I just made that **** up.

The fine is a joke but the teams don't like it when it happens to them. It's our photo happy, smiling moron of a Commissioner & the BOG's who make our league out to be the joke that it is sometimes. And you said everybody does it. C'mon UP, you make a sweeping generalization of a statement but can't give me examples of every team tampering as it hasn't happened. SOME teams have, not all. As far a fines for teams who do tamper, I'd like to see some real teeth put into the fines... Like $100,000 fine & a loss of a draft pick to make sure it never happens.
-
I'd be concerned as tampering is a pretty serious thing to do. Would we like it if say Henoc Muamba goes to the Argos after his NFL aspirations fell flat & we found out Barker had discussions with him before Feb.15th?
-
Yeah, agree since he was less than 2 weeks away from FA. Then again as KBF said Mack probably would have ****** it up anyway so he's where he probably would have gone to begin with.

Pascucci: Gary Etcheverry Bombers new DC
iso_55 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Maybe the longer this process goes on, the less of a chance the Etch hire is. -
Who's that, Platinum Blonde?

Too bad that happened.... That's a major deal for a senior. My wife's aunt passed away a couple of weeks ago. She was in her mid 80's. She fell, broke her ankle but never got out of the hospital. It was a simple break that you & I could handle easily after the break was set & in a cast but she just gave up...
