  1. Lots of players are playing in cities where their families don't come from. It's a matter of paying guys what they should be paid & they're happy. Some will still want to live close to family. Others don't care.
  2. you're wrong. Ladd/Little/Wheeler is a 2nd line at best. Scheifele is a young player and as a result still prone to inconsistency, Frolik is a 2nd liner at best and Kane is the only guy who can be a legit first liner, but again still a young player and not elite so prone to some inconsistency. Then the bottom 6 really is lacking. Their defense has got some pretty good potential but again, Trouba is a rookie so you can't rightly expect him to be doing too much, Byfuglien has always and will always be inconsistent in his effort level, Enstrom is good but more offensive minded than defensive, Bogosian is servicable on a top pair but not much more than that and other than that very uninspiring. Seriously compare it to other western teams and you really start to see how lacking it is. Nailed it.
  3. I guess this debate will rage until we see how this group of players do with Maurice an NHL veteran head coach. We'll see if it is talent or coaching.
  4. Cheveldayoff signed every one of the Thrasher FA's before the lockout & last summer to big long term contracts. Look where that got us. Chipman was so impressed he did the same thing to Kevin giving him a new 5 year deal. And so here we stand. In a box of sand. Team stuck & going nowhere with current management & core players in it for the long haul.
  5. Feeling's mutual.
  6. Too bad we don't play in the old Smythe Division with Calgary & Edmonton.
  7. He used to say & do some real stupid things.... can't deny his ability but his good judgement? Well....
  8. True but like I said drafting & developing takes time. It's going to be years before we know how good or bad Chevy drafted. Meanwhile, the team isn't getting any better short term. We don't sign free agents or trade actively so the mantra is patience. Yet Noel gets fired coaching with the talent he had now. Mixed message.
  9. How can you sell Burris to anyone with one iota of football knowledge? I guess that's the rub though. LeFevour can only wish he plays as good or as long as Burris.
  10. Ownership giving Cheveldayoff a new long term deal wasn't very smart considering he hasn't done anything to really warrant it other than preach patience to the fans. Drafting & developing takes time & he isn't active in the FA market. All Cheveldayoff did was lock up the core of the old Atlanta Thrashers.
  11. Some coaches & general managers are arrogant & have huge egos. They're right & everybody else is wrong. Austin strikes me as that kind of guy.
  12. That was before the floods, Jacquie... Just can't see it happening.
  13. Love for it to happen Noeller but somehow I doubt it. Would be great, though.
  14. I don't have that cup but I'd love one.
  15. We all have expectations otherwise why the excitement about the management, scouting & HC hire?? I'll be happy with a 7 or 8 win season & a team on the rise. Well coached & managed.
  16. It's never been Richard Head. Always been Dickhead right from the start.
  17. I for one never said I wanted Stala .I said simply that we need more veterans on this team to provide leadership on the field & in the locker room & on the field to our young players. Never said it had to be Stala. That's why we were 3-15 last season. Wally Buono couldn't have won with the talent we had last season.
  18. SPuDs, the point is we all know that Buck's been hurt multiple times including head trauma. That he plays but he doesn't do with the football the things he used to do because of it. I am concerned about a fellow human being. A guy who sacrificed physically trying to win us games. Yes, the guy was hurt a lot & that set us back but you can't say Buck didn't give everything he could give for the Bombers when he was out on the field. He did. That's all.
  19. Yes, Jacquie he looks just chipper in that picture. He should retire before he gets killed. .
  20. Expectations that the **** show we have experienced the past 2 seasons is finally over & that we have people who know what they're doing managing & coaching the team.
  21. IF... big if Kohlert comes back. Just what we need, Mr Dee. Give more inexperienced players more playing time. We already did that & we went 3-15. I get what you say & don't necessarily disagree with you about playing young guys on our team but we're still way too young at a lot of positions. We need veteran players as well. All I'm saying.
  22. Pretty sure they won't call it that. Ya think? Seems like a name with a good fit.
  23. Agree 100% with this. I think we've drank a little too much of Mack's kool-aid in Winnipeg. Experienced, solid veterans have a place on teams. Even free agents. We've just gotten through a year with what I'd call a complete lack of leadership. I don't love me any Stala, but to provide some veteran leadership, to mentor young guys and provide some 5th WR production, I'd have taken him on. I'm no real Stala fan either nor did I expect the Bombers to sign him as he is entrenched as an East Division guy in Ontario & Quebec. I don't think he'd ever come out west. My point was that we need veteran leadership badly on this team. If we have a chance to sign an older player we should take advantage of it. We need character & role player guys as much as we need the young superstars to win. Funny how it seems players on other teams suck yet ours don't. That's what I was talking about Mike. .
  24. Don't feel like being an internet detective to talk to you Mike.
  25. We're better than Montreal?? Not talking the Stala signing now. I'm just askin'.
