He was a disaster in Hamilton. So bad in fact I'm surprised he got another chance.
-
He didn't have to take it like Dave Dickenson.
-
Defenses win championships so I hope Stubler comes here. Huff is interviewing him on Tuesday. I hope he spills coffee all over John.

BS. Granted he brought in a couple of semi decent receivers, but the rest so far haven't shown me diddly so far, including a dud QB, a gimped NI OLman...and was he responsible for our crappy kicker or was that Mack. I can't remember. I don't know why you guys are harping on Robyn and IC Khari. They're just stating that we won't know what kind of GM he'll be until August, and that's the truth. You guys were the same ones that said there was nothing wrong with Mack and that all the Mack hate wasn't justified earlier this year, and the same ones who said "oh you can't say Burke is bad when he took over in the middle of the year like he did blah blah" back in 2012. As if any of you know what this guy is going to be like any more then we do. We all like him so far and what he's saying, and hope he's good. But no one knows if he's going to **** it up or make us into a winning team just yet. Geez, stop crucifying people here and acting like they said "this guy was utter **** and OMGZORZ HE'S THE AWFUL!!!111!ONE!!!!" Oh chill out! This was a good positive thread for a change until the glass half empty folks showed up. Of course no one really knows, many of us just like what we see so far....period! Oh chill out! This was a good positive thread for a change until the glass half empty folks showed up. Of course no one really knows, many of us just like what we see so far....period! Exactly. I have liked what I've seen since Walters became permanent GM. The scouting dept is a major upgrade. He deserves a chance. I mean, he's been on the job permanently for just 2 weeks.
-
I like it too, but isn't that exactly the same thing that Doug Berry got raked over the coals on these forums for a few years back? Except if Walters gets angry he'll be shielded from the cameras on the sidelines unlike Berry was. That's what turned a lot of fans against Doug. He was explosive on the bench. Got tired of seeing that constantly from a HC. Coach the players up not to make mistakes. Don't ratch out all the time.

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
-
Give the guy a chance, holy smokes. What's he been the GM here since August? Only the full time GM for 2 weeks?
-
Desjardins would be a fool not to draft a free agent like Henoc Muamba if for whatever reason the Bombers didn't protect him. Which I think they will by the way. So, I don't trust anything Desjardins says.

We need nicknames. Time to invite Nasty Nate to join.

I'd prefer a complete break from anything to do with last season. But we'll see.

Maas has been in the CFL now for about 12 years, hasn't he? I think he has as good a handle on offense as Khari, Marcus Brady or Bob Gibson does.

Mike, you live in Winnipeg. I don't. I live in Calgary. You have no clue. Why are some of you taking this so personally as you shouldn't be surprised? You think a new head coach & GM is going to turn the skeptics around??? The Bombers are still considered a joke outside Winnipeg. In Calgary, the media here calls the Bombers dysfunctional. They are described as having no credibility. Whenever the discussion gets to the Bombers with the Calgary media & media from other CFL cities it's a real yuk yuk fest when they talk about the Bombers. I've heard interviews with the media here talking to commentators from Montreal all across to BC over the past couple of years slagging Winnipeg. I hate listening to that **** but that's the reality Mike, whether you insult me or not. So you mean the Calgary media then. You do know I can read newspapers from ... outside of Winnipeg, right? Even the national ones. Oh for crisakes. You're always right. Who cares? You win, satisfied? I'm tired of our little cat & mouse games. From now on, whatever you say goes because you're smarter than me & know more than I do. Carry on.

Where does the national media say that the Bombers are still whe worst possible team a coach can go to? You have to live outside Winnipeg & the Province like I do to really know how they feel.
-
Looks like the Bombers are going to announce their coordinators together at the same time. That's the sense I'm getting. Same with Edmonton.
-
What is the national media? TSN? Any media outside Winnipeg in newspaper, magazine, radio & television. Can be anyone.
-
So, read that LaPo is leaning towards staying with TSN as an analyst. Probably waiting for a HC job to come up next year. Thing is, LaPo has to get back in the saddle & back on the sidelines if he wants to be a HC again. Doing analysis in a tv studio won't get him the gig. But being in charge of a successful offense as an offensive coordinator will. Look at what happened to Tom Higgins. He's been away from the sidelines for too long. He may never be a CFL HC or GM again. In some eyes now he's now a dinosaur.
-
The national media are still saying that the Bombers are the worst possible team a coach could go to. I wonder what their take is going to be after this?? If you can't attract an OC with Travis Lulay, Nick Moore & Andrew Harris as the go to guys on offense then there is a real problem.
-
If true, it means they won't lose Rob Maver. Probably the best directional punter in the league. Ottawa could always pick Maver then try to sign Burris or trade for Tate(I Imagine Cal would want to keep Glenn). If Ott picks one of the Stamps qbs then they can't take Maver. Saying that because Paredes will be protected.

Bob Irving's Guess On Bombers Protected List
iso_55 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
With our (lack of) Canadian talent how do you not protect him? Would the Bombers run the risk of having him drafted? Maybe but.... he may be one of the easier free agent players to re-sign as he's not looking for the CFL's version of a gold mine like Henoc Muamba. Taman may or may not go after him...We'll see. -

Stamps Assistant GM John Murphy was on radio here in Calgary tonight to talk about the expansion draft. He had an interesting observation about the Stampeder picks & how the organization has handled it. Only the coaches that have committed to being here next season were permitted to enter the locked room where the list was posted. It was under lock & key & only Murphy, Huff & one or two others worked on it. So, Dave Dickenson having signed a new long term agreement could go into that room & see the list but Rick Campbell, Dan Yanowski & Bob Gibson who have all left for Ottawa couldn't. Murphy explained that the CFL is a business first & in the long term peoples careers are at stake. He said to the credit of the departed coaches they understood & handled the situation well. Murphy said Huff basically told the coaches that you're either with us or you're not. The guys that couldn't commit didn't see that list. So, that's how the Stamps handled it. He said that the Stamps being a winning organization know their coaches will eventually go somewhere so it was decided to handle things this way.

I strongly believe that Nik Lewis will be protected by the Stamps over Fuller. Nik's got a couple more years in the tank & is under contract. He will be a thousand yard receiver when he returns next season. It would be a PR nightmare for the Stamps if he was drafted by Ottawa & then was an impact player there for a couple more years.. Look at the (lack of) blocking in the WDF by Price at slot. It wasn't until McDaniel went down in BC during the final regular season game & price took McDaniels spot that Lewis was sorely missed as he was so good at blocking every game. Absolutely Fuller's got talent. The question I think is Fuller going to be protected over Joe West?
-
I think the turn around will be faster than a lot of people think assuming that the coaches they hire as worth a damn and they get a decent qb. There is some potential here that needs developed so good coaches should hopefully be able to turn some of these guys into players. That's my thought as well.

If we gotta start at the bottom of the scrap heap so be it. But now the entire Bomber organization have to roll up their collective sleeves & start turning this beached whale of a team around.
