Paul LaPolice as our starting MLB? What have you been smoking?
-
Nah, not a good idea. Giving fans a major on the Bomber Board say would just make things worse. I don't like political appointments to the board. I wouldn't mind us studying other organizations that are public to see if a better model is there other than ours.
-
Yeah, Burke was just a coach in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was in way over his head. A lot of good coaches would be. I do wish him well as he seems to be a decent & nice guy.
-
I bet he's glad to get away from the circus here that was the 2013 season. Of which he was the ringmaster.
-
Jones was an excellent DC (won 3 Grey Cups) so I don't know if the Argos D will get better with Burke. I expect they'll play the same because of talent already there.
-
Burke agreed to this so he's doing us a favour for sure.... He didn't have to. Could have put his feet up for a year & taken life easy.
-
Has McManus actually been hired?
-
Gotta give the man a chance. I like the hire & hopefully he does great.
-
Great for us. Austin can keep Sonic.
-
Burke is a great DC. The 1 1/2 years as HC here shouldn't change that. That is the level where he should be at & stay from now on in his career.

RDS Reports Possible Major Changes To Als Coaching Staff

If Taman's not over the cap, that's probably the final nail in Mack's coffin. Taman 'overpaid' for everybody... That being said, I'm sure Simon, Foley, McElveen, Williams, Ferri are pretty much cut or retired before FA season/bonuses... Simon had a good Grey Cup but I don't think he got 600 yards receiving the entire regular season. He still wants to come back & play next year.... He's a shell of his former self. & maybe the Riders don't want him back next season. -

The attitude in Sask is that a championship justifies being over the cap. Priders are mostly saying it's only money so once the penalty is paid back to the CFL then it's no big deal. And THEY have no problem with it. The SMS was brought in originally because the Riders & their fans all wailed about the unfairness of some teams being able to outbid them for players & that it hindered them recruiting a decade ago. Such hypocrites now ten years later. -

Wonder how hard it's going to be to keep the same old gang together in Riderville. I'm on CFL Horsemen & a lot of Rider fans have come there to taunt Stamps fans & to gloat over their GC win. One especially, Jericho or Migs as you may remember him. More than just a few of them said that they expect Taman to be over the cap & justified that by saying, "C'mon, we were hosting the GC so it was expected we'd be over".... They think a GC justifies cheating which I don't agree with.... -

i'm inclined to agree. I certainly don't "hate" Mack for his approach to the draft, though the parting shots from Miller & Walters suggest otherwise. Still, I just don't see CIS drafting as our team's (and Mack's) Achilles heel....More like an atrocious approach to Free Agency (brought to you by Nyquil) and zero success at fixing the QB. Oh, and cost cutting guys that never really made sense (Kent). And of course, firing coaches at the absolute worst time and then letting the team disintegrate under Burke after that. Other than that, Mack was great. ;-) You don't mention the single biggest issue.... he was terrible at picking a head coach. You don't get the right guy coaching your team it doesn't matter what kind of talent you have it's not going to look good. Like BriceDream said, sitting on his hands during free agency. That was the worst mistake. -
I wonder if he ran a spread or Wildcat in college... He's just not ready to be a full time starter. if Austin is looking at him down the line as the starter, best to keep Hank around for another season or two.

And now we have a GM who is fully cognizant of the fact that we need to upgrade our NI talent and has excellent connections in that regard...but...some folks on here don't seem to realize the benefit of that. And that's what I had said. That we finally have a GM who understands the CIS & should be able to draft well. -
I don't know what you guys think, but even though Hank can be Frank like we saw last Sunday, handing the reigns to Dan LeFevour would be a major regression at the qb position for the Ti Cats. LeFevour like Goltz, is more at home in a Wildcat offense. He would be awful directing a conventional CFL offense because he'd have to read defenses & throw the football. Teams would take away the outside on LeFevour & make him beat them with his throwing.

You know, I'm at the point that if Mike O'Shea gives us a better chance to sign Collaros then bring him in as HC. I don't care how good or experienced a coach you are, if you don't have the pieces at key positions like QB you don't win. Kent Austin couldn't have brought the offense we had together. Get the centerpiece signed.... that's Collaros.

Head coach - Who do you want and why?
iso_55 replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
No kidding. Now you have Rick Foleyt saying had he known what it would be like playing in Regina he would have come over years ago type ****... Just wait till these guys start losing & all the adoring Prider fans start dumping all over them. Then they'll see the true colours of that fanbase. I remember a time in the mid 80's when players wanted to come here. All goes in cycles. It's great when you win. Shitty when you lose. -
You guys think the Bombers want him back? i have my doubts. if there is one thing there is a plethora out there are good, young running backs looking for work.
-
LeFevour is just another version of Justin Goltz...

Debate what Mike? Four & 14 last year & 6 & 12 the year before?? Total chaos this past season? Total failure? Incompetence at every level? Our qb situation? Where do you want to start? -

Well, you can hang on to that belief, I guess. So it looks to me that if you were running the Bombers you'd be selling the fanbase on giving Mack a chance & keeping him on as GM. To continue to let him work his well laid out plan whatever the hell that is. Or that continual change is bad so therefore he deserves to stay & this team is on the cusp of greatness. That all that's needed at the GM position is patience. And you'd have a huge revolt on your hands with the same fanbase. The old expression says you can put makeup on a pig but in the end it's still a pig. I'm glad Miller, Walters & just about everybody else see it like I do. I think what needs to be done is for all parties on both sides of this argument need to put the Mack era behind us & move on. Time to throw our support with the new regime & give them a chance. People on both sides of the Mack argument like you & I will never agree. We'll continue to go round & round so like I said it's time to move on. -

Stop chugging the haterade for Mack for a second and look at the situation. The only thing that saved Kellys ass in terms of Canadians was having 2 top level NIs in Doug Brown and Brendan Labatte. Without those two there was sweet **** all on the team for NIs AND Kelly and Taman were trading all kinds of draft picks. Mack did draft several starters for this team and did build some depth in some places that wasn't there before, he just had Brown getting old and retiring and Labatte being a little ***** who can't be away from home. I'll chug the Haterade for Mack because he was dreadful. That's not gonna change just as your love for the guy won't either as you pump Mack's tires every chance you get. So, think of it as balancing things out, lol!! But yeah, four & a half years later it's still just always easier to blame Kelly & not Mack. -
Tsoumpas. Getting a guy like that would do a hell of a lot of good for the o-line. As you know 17, he has serious concussion issues right now. his career may be in jeopardy.... I'm thinking he'll either stay in Calgary or go back home to Edmonton where he is from if he plays again. There's some very good OL on that list like Josh Bourke. That list is amazing the talent that is on it. Even if we snag four or five FA's we're a better team.
