  1. Mike, one thing I've learned at Ourbombers & here... Is you can be as rude or impatient as me or anyone else. Do I feel attacked? Depends on what I say or what side of the argument I'm on. If I go with the flow then usually I'm okay. No one says anything negative, but wow, go out on a limb & watch what happens. Sometimes I feel that there are SOME... not ALL... people who are just waiting for me or anyone here... to say something they don't agree with & they attack. Now, I guess you can lump me into both groups & I wouldn't argue with that at all. Like I said, this is a small website. We probably have 50 people active here. So, in a way it's like a bunch of siblings spatting with one another. Tell you what, I'll try to do better.
  2. And why do you have to always get personal? I wasn't mad, dude. I always get personal? Alright... Anyways, how about that middle ground? Why would there be a middle ground? On what basis? Rids knows his stuff when it comes to salaries. He's worked with other CFL teams at arms length. Knows scouts on various CFL teams. Has had discussions with them about players. He attends the Senior Bowl every year & is on the field with the NFL & CFL scouts. He attends the E Camp the CFL holds in March. He is on a first name basis with most CIS head coaches across Canada. He talks to these guys & they all give him the scoop on what their former players are making. He is an equal partner with CFL player Shomari Williams in a college recruiting company. He has set up combines all across Canada. I didn't just pick those numbers out of the blue that I quoted. It was Rids who first told me what CFL first rounders make just a few days ago in a private discussion about this very thing. What a bizarre comment. You said "first round picks make 85-95k" and JBR said "no they don't" and you replied with "so what are you saying, they make 40-45k" and not only that, but you're extremely confrontational about it. How in the world can you not see yourself ignoring the possibility of a middle ground in that exchange? Truly a weird dude. If you honestly weren't mad, you need to take a long hard look at the way you talk to people because for a guy who was just engaging in a conversation and wasn't at all upset, you sure came across as a bit of a d-bag. Not attacking you, just being honest. I trust you when you say you weren't mad, but damn man ... you sure sound like it. A lot. . This place is small but becoming very cliqueish. When this place first opened we all got along. Then disagreements became spats, which became arguments, which became grudges & is now becoming wars. Now when I post, I have to put on a suit of armor because I know I'll get attacked by the same people. I can almost count on it. Is it because the team sucks so bad that people including myself are so grouchy here? If we were 12-3 instead of 3-12 would we get along better? I don't know but I do know it's not as much fun coming here as it used to be. People want to be respected. Respect goes both ways, I get that. I need to be better but so do others here as well.

  5. Looks like Denmark.
  6. Kohlert's the player we sign of the 2 (Etienne & Kohlert). If I was going to gamble, I'd protect Kohlert then make sure he gets signed but leave Etienne exposed to Ottawa. If Etienne isn't selected & wants to come back here then he has to take a significant pay cut to do so based on his numbers the past 3 seasons. All first rounders get paid $85-95,000 a season. He then takes a 25-35% pay cut on a new contract. If he balks then sayonara, kid. Best of luck as he won't get any better offers even in his beloved home land. No they don't. None of them do. If they are lucky they can make that if they reach performance bonuses. Muamba isn't making close to that in base salary on his current deal. So, you're saying Henoc Muamba makes $45,000 a year? Really, do tell? When Chris Bauman signed with the Stamps after bouncing atound the CFL (inc Winnipeg) after he was selected as the very first pick in the draft back whenever, his salary for a backup depth receiver on the Stamps that they are paying him now is about $135,000 a year according to people in the know. And you're saying Etienne makes what, $35,000?? Forty?? Why would a first round pick sacrifice his body & his time to get paid that? He could get a job paying more money. Do you not see the possibility of there being middle ground between 35-45K & 85-95k? Why do you get so angry about everything? And why do you have to always get personal? I wasn't mad, dude.

  8. Wildcard in this is the fact that if Ottawa takes a qb then they can't take a punter/kicker. So, with all the qbs available it means if they take one of Tate or Glenn they can't grab Maver. I could see them grabbing a player like Willy, Nichols or DeMarco or someone else from another team & then take Maver the best punter in the CFL. I know there are fans in Calgary who hope Tate is drafted as that means Maver stays & Tate is gone. If that occurs, don't expect the Stamps to trade Glenn as he'd help to groom Mitchell as the starter. As well as play a lot next year as well.

  10. I think it's a chance either way. I think it's a chance either way. I think it's a legit question.
  11. He is interesting isn't he? I think his body of work in the CFL is too small to predict how he'll develop. He could be another Michael Bishop.
  12. Marsh? The guy is all over the place & is as an erratic a passer as I've ever seen. My feeling is if we go after qbs like that then keep Goltz as Marsh isn't any better, probably worse. Guys like Marsh aren't qbs you build the future on. What's the point of trading for a backup qb at best when we need a legit starter? Also, let me get this straight, you'd want Marsh over Collaros, Glenn or Tate?
  13. Do we protect Etienne who is a free agent? What if we protect him & we lose a player under contract? Then he signs with the Riders.
  14. And if I press "Like This", then what?
  15. The Rod Black thing was funny. The guy literally went silent for about 10 seconds. He then said that he wasn't able to discuss on air personalities. I said okay then, put me through to someone who can. He said he couldn't as he is the one who speaks to people who call. Nice way to deflect criticism.
  16. Band aid. But I'd take it for a year or two. Provided Hank survives.
  17. I think it's closer to half a decade no? Huff was hired in early December 2007. But being head of officiating for the CFL he's still close to football & can see what kind of game it is now compared to when he coached a few years ago. Had Tom gone into seclusion or retired your concerns may be valid but the guy is on top of everything going on in the CFL today.
  18. If you compare Winnipeg to Regina or Edmonton, please. Regina is a wasteland. If that team was losing then no one would want to play there.
  19. I hear Joe Mack is available..... Well, as far as Mack is concerned, stupid is as stupid does.
  20. Anyone think Thomas DeMarco is a bona fide starting qb? I think he's a career backup. If DeMarco is the best qb on the Lions roster with Lulay out just how bad has Joey Elliott been as the #3 qb?
  21. Higgins would be a great choice. My concern about Walters is do the coaches in the SEC, Pac 12, Mountain West, Big 12, etc know the guy? Would they return his calls if he phoned them? What about NFL coaches or personnel directors? It's great to have contacts in the CIS but we also need a GM who can pick up the phone & talk to people in the NFL or NCAA if need be. I believe that Walters needs much more experience before he tackles a massive rebuild with the Bombers. He needs to work under a GM who has those connections in order to get to know the people he needs to know in the US.
  22. I'm thinking most people here like Collaros because he's shown a lot of potential in a small period of time compared to some of the other QB's in the league aside from BLM. Reilly was similar last year except he played fewer games. Collaros has shown he has what it takes. With proper coaching, he could go really far. Your last sentence scares me a bit. Trust me...I'm with you there. Can you all say "QB Coach"? I knew you could. If the Bombers keep Burke why will things change? He didn't want a qb coach this year knowing our qb situation was going to suck with inexperienced players at the qb position so why would he hire one for next year? The man is clueless.
  23. Please tell me more. I'm interested.
  24. As Rids, I presume? I never knew that was him before. Yes, he is Rids. His CFL Draft Guide is must reading for every CFL fan.
