Absolutely disagree. Having a salary grid would protect players from the things the Riders are doing. And from players asking too much. It would also make the salary cap easier to manage in my opinion. The NHL & (I believe) the NFL has a salary grid for players signing their first contract. Seems to work for those leagues.

I remember when Ali was a conscientious objector & refused to report for military duty. People back then felt he was a coward for not wanting to serve in the Viet Nam War. Football has specific position numbers so if you retire a lot of numbers what then? In hockey you can have players wear any number. You can't have OL constantly reporting in because too many numbers have been retired. When's the last time you saw a running back or qb with the number #98?? Pictures from 1954??

I read your post, TUP. I just took it to be an extremely rich guy who paid people off to stay out of jail. Just like Polanski taking off to avoid prosecution. Except Jackson did it multiple times. They may have to go International at RT if Neufeld continues with injury issues. Scouts will have to bring in some tackles. I'd have preferred they'd have done more during the off season to address the issue. Since he got here & even in his time with the Riders, Neufeld hasn't shown he can play an entire year or be depended upon. Giving him a starting spot on the OL at RT with his injury track record is extremely risky.
