Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Noeller replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I was very much on board last year with "why on earth are we bringing a low-ceiling guy?" and he really is no better than Corny in Edmonton. But.... what he was asked to do last year, he did really well. I know everyone is mad about the throw in the GC, but he'd executed that same play successfully a couple of times last year. It just didn't work out at the most inopportune time last year. It definitely sucks to lose the pig, but for what they're concerned about RIGHT NOW, I understand the move and am okay with it. That said, when I first heard about it this morning, I laughed and said to myself "well that's going to go over like a lead balloon with the fans...." ha ha. -

if that all actually comes to pass, that's a big upgrade to our depth issues... -

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has added American defensive back Tyrique McGhee to the practice roster. McGhee (5-10, 185, Georgia, August 11, 1998 in Byron, GA) was in training camp with the Bombers this season before being injured and subsequently released. He spent the 2020 season on the L.A. Rams’ practice squad. McGhee played in 50 games with the Georgia Bulldogs at a variety of defensive back positions, recording 53 total tackles, nine pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. also, re: Prukop..... from @DTonOB -
they were missing ******* Dom Rhymes, by far their best receiver....and STILL did that to us? That is all about the Bombers shitting their pants, plain and simple. I can not imagine that happening again.

Montreal apparently circled back around today and re-entered the picture. Still trending toward LA, but it's something...

Jones circus continues.... drops a guy for one fumble. Guarantee Locksley went to him pissed off and Jones told him where to go and how to get there. What an absolutely gong show... -

I'm sure there's a lot going on in the offices....... just not necessarily on the field. I'd bet there's a LOT of meetings and "virtual practice" happening at the facilities. They won't take that loss lightly..... -

Haba showing well this early in his career is very helpful. It Jeffcoat is ever good enough to go, that's a good rotation on the ends. Hansen even more so. Lawson spelling off Jake when he comes back will help both of them enormously but I still wish we had someone better than Ricky Walker as our main NT. Would kill for a Nevis/Stove. -

Glad the PTB within Bell/TSN got their **** figured out. I don't LOVE Nielson's PBP, but the league and TSN need some younger talent in the pipeline. He'll get better. -

As has been said around here many many times, this is exactly it, and it's injuries (and lack of depth) all along the DL that are causing our issues on D. -

Our biggest issue on defense is injuries, plain and simple. -

Willie and Biggie have arguably been our two best players on D to start the season..... -

I've seen you post twice now about Rick Campbell being a great coach. I don't believe that for a second, and if I remember right, our resident insider Booch, has said similar. Campbell's assistants may have outschemed us (huge MAYBE) but Campbell has never done anything impressive. Moving on to this week, there needs to be a statement game on Canada Day. Wash that taste out of their mouths. -

When he didn't get that short yardage TD, it felt like that was it. They didn't trust him anymore and his ass got stapled to the bench. -

Montreal hasn't been a graveyard for Bombers teams in like a decade or more, it feels like. ****, I remember Cory Watson going in there and tearing them a new *******. Not since Calvillo days has it been "a graveyard". Having said that, this past week has me all kinds of concerned about playing anyone. -

So uh... Is Montreal good... And should we be concerned next weekend? -
Long bomb to Agudosi and some nice runs from Brady O........ maybe a couple sacks on D. There's not much to choose from, that's for sure.... a rough go. Hoping that's the last time we see something like that this season.

Depends what happens next week........

I've seen this a couple times, but this seems overstated. There's nothing he can teach them that they don't already know from film study. Couture giving them "intel" doesn't just suddenly obliterate the best OL the league has seen in years. There's a lot more to it than that. Something was really really wrong.
