2022/2023 Off-Season (League/Non-Bombers-specific News)

Even the 600k they claim they're ready to give Rourke seems insane to me. How can you build a team around that?? -

I didn't realize he was only 31... -
we just got a couple in my office gift exchange this year!! They are fabulous.... my wife also has these rubber skins that slide over her beer cans and look like a Coca-Cola can once it's on. Important details!

Lol.... we have a rule about shots per fish..... it's a long, complicated story, but generally it's more shots the better the fish. (Walleye count as +1 on the daily count, PIke -1, Bass +2 when applicable...etc....) It's usually shots of Fireball, but woof..... we have to be careful with that if we have a drive home afterward.

We (my wife, cousin and I who all tend to fish together most often) try to find a balance between a social outing and grinding hard. My wife loves to cook and brings out the Coleman camp stove along with our single burner tank top cooker and does up fun meals on the tailgate. Sometimes during the day, we'll have some tunes going, but try to keep it quiet so as not to spook fish or bother anyone else in the neighbourhood. At the same time, we only fish for trophies, so we like to put in the grind and stay mobile as much as we can until we find a good school we can hunker down on...

the really funny/interesting thing in that barrage of Rourke tweets I posted last night, is the Lions fan who believes that, for the good of the league, the league should allow (even using their own coffers) for Rourke to be paid whatever it takes to top the NFL offers. Because the league apparently needs him so badly, we should just ignore all caps and just pay him whatever to stay in BC. Get ******. I'm ready to see the Leos back down at the bottom of the barrel again next year with Edmonton and Sask... -
we call that "**** hawking".....

Gonna head to the clinic and get mine today, I think. I'm officially 6 months from my last dose on Jan 21, but I'm told they'll give you the shot anytime after 5 months, so I think I should be deemed eligible. That new variant is no joke, and I want no part of it.

white tube jigs with some sucker belly.....up on Athapap for the 50+"ers....... that's a bucket list item for me. If you watch some of Clayton Schick's vids (one of only a handful that the wife and I watch religiously) from up that way, it is ridonkulous, the slobs he's iced. One day I'll get up there...

Don't Look Back - 2022/2023 Bombers Off Season
Noeller replied to Wideleft's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Kolankowski got better and better as the season went on. He started out slow but by the time Couture came back, I think a lot of people were wondering if we weren't almost better off just leaving Kola in there because things had been going so well. I would have no problem if they had to start the season with him. Dobson is a Manimal, for sure, but at this point, I'm still way more comfortable with Kola starting ahead of him. Couture is a beauty for sure, and hopefully they can work it out with him... -

Kolankowski and Dobson are next up at C...... I'm sure we'll be looking for another NI OL with our first pick in May, as always... -

so Couture the last remaining OL to sign....curious what happens there. We have options at C, so the Bombers certainly aren't desperate.... -
When I was a kid, my dad and his work buddies built a "permie", that sat along the Winnipeg River, tucked into the bush alongside a big bay. It was there all year. In winter, you'd go set up tip-up's (old times!) in the bay and just watch for flags from the window of the shack. Amazing to think back on those days. Now, I like to be more mobile and hunt the fish that are constantly roaming. Having the big tent is nice for the overnighters, but during the day, it's so important to stay mobile. We drill a **** ton of holes and constantly move around. I desperately want to buy the new "live sonar" (I think Garmin LiveScope has my vote right now, but the Humminbird MegaLive is tempting as well...) which will really change the game for us...

this is interesting...I'm curious if Lawler goes to FA and pits the Bombers and LOLks against each other....... I'd think the Bombers would be in on it, if they knew Schoen was gone. If Schoen's back, no way do you go all in on Lawler. -

was kinda hoping he might make it to FA..... woulda looked good in Royal Blue...... -
it's really great so far.... also finally broke down and bought the Strikemaster 40V Lite which is among the best money I've ever spent in fishing. We'd been using an Eskimo uninsulated double bubble along with a Jiffy Pro4 propane auger, and the word "upgrade" is a massive understatement. Really glad we moved up in the world this year... oh they're riduclous right now... we buy 3 packs from CT, which used to be like 18 bucks and now they're 25, I think. Insanity.

Lakers are DEEEELISHHHHHHH....... have had them many times during canoe trips into NW Ont. Personally, my wife and I are just fishing for trophies...we don't ever keep. Incredible thing about Alberta that Manitobans can't wrap their heads around: Walleye are so scarce in Alberta, that in order to keep ANY, you have to enter a tag-lottery (as Manitobans do for hunting deer/elk/moose, etc) and you can get drawn for Class A/B/C (which correspond to a certain size). It's really wild and we've never bothered to enter. We'll both eat fish, but we don't like it enough to bother going through the hassle. And I could fillet if I absolutely had to, but again, to me it's not worth the hassle. I'm strictly out there trying to catch a 30" walleye and nothing else...

went to the Otter Vortex Monster Lodge this year (at 132sq ft, the largest on the market) so the BB was a necessity. We still have a "Regular Buddy" from before, as a back up. Finally got the hose to the 20lb propane working properly, so we'll be cooking this weekend. Alright, I think we might need to branch this conversation off into a separate thread, if a Mod would be so kind......
