  1. As I mentioned in the other thread, this is pretty much exactly how I feel. I don't give two shits about all the weird stats, and the whole sports betting thing is Greek to me. I don't understand the language and don't care about it at all. Having said that, I understand it's a new generation and I'm a very old man....so it is what it is. I'm willing to give him a shot, tho I'm not as excited for the first pre-game show of the year as I would be in years past. The current generation of broadcasters don't do things in the same way guys of Bob's vintage did it....that's just a fact of life that I've got to adjust to, I suppose!
  2. that's a no contest. I'm not what you'd call outright EXCITED about the DT hire......but.....it's something. "...Ehhhh....he seems to know the kids names...." is the Simpsons quote I'd use here. I'm not as excited for the first pre-game show of the season, but I'm open minded and willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. See if we can get the Riders stink off him.
  3. I laughed at anyone from Sask beaking another team about poor OL......Christ sakes.
  4. My folks lived in Nanaimo for a couple years before moving back to be closer to family. They say they'll go there again before their final years, but we'll see. I didn't mind it...I'd certainly take Nanaimo over AB (pretty much anywhere is preferable to AB these days...), it's an older town with not a lot in the way of fancy new buildings or even homes. Everything feels locked in about 1985. That was my take on it anyhow. I did like the proximity to water...that was my one big takeaway from it. My folks loved going to curling in the winter in just a light jacket....major upgrade from MB. All that said....to me, there is absolutely nowhere on the planet I'd rather be than EastMan or NW Ont. There is nothing more beautiful than the Canadian Shield, 12 months of the year.
  5. Well, they were damn close in 2018....he built a pretty good team that could realistically gone all the way. So it's not like his teams haven't been good. I think the question is "Has he earned the right to re-build once?" I honestly don't know enough to know...
  6. I get wanting to dump Chevy because of the Chicago situation, but his drafting has been top notch and I'd really hate to lose that.....
  7. The rebuild (or at least reload) should be fully on with the Jets org right now. Load up on picks and prospects if you can, and prep hard for making the playoffs next year. I dunno if we deal Scheifele, but if they do, hopefully they get a haul for him.
  8. courtesy our boy @rileymarra, it looks like Strev is "taking his talents to South Beach"....
  9. Hate the fLames sofa King much..... Go Jets go.
  10. Definitely don't like the personal history of that DB but love the potential of that receiver....
  11. Classic Bumbles.
  12. My understanding of what happened to Ledger was that he was really messed up from this movie and was having trouble with his sleep. They got him on some meds to help with that and he started taking more and more of them and eventually too much. For anyone that might be interested, the HBO "I Am Heath Ledger" doc on Crave is awesome.
  13. Ehhhhhh.... Here's the thing. Jen fluked her way through the Trials. Fleury and Einar are the two best teams right now, and both Elina Paetz and the British girl who just won Gold are also right there. The truth is, Jen is just about done. It should be Kait's team now. I'm sort of hoping that Jen calls er quits after this season and Kait takes over the team for the next quadrennial.
  14. Nichols had a really bad I jury in Edm which is the only reason he was buried on that team. His production dropped off after that injury, unfortunately. But lucky for us because he completely revolutionized our offense.
  15. If you're not willing to block as hard as you play the rest of your game, you aren't going to FI on a MOS team.....
  16. that's an old one...been told a bunch. Cal refused to spend any money on anything (complaints of having to "wear Mack Herron's jock strap" were common) and the players would have to go over to Polo Park and buy their own socks at Sears. Cal just wouldn't spend a penny on anything. The exact opposite of Wade, who has no problem making sure the players have everything they need...
  17. media have taken a beating lately, but the reporters on the ground and the hosts in studio have done incredible work, IMO, to bring this info and these images to the masses...
  18. Steve Armitage is calling it a career.... a lot of jokes have been made about him over the years, but the man really is a national broadcasting treasure. He's had some incredible calls....
  19. Ya I was surprised that he was leaving just to leave. I assumed he had another gig lined up. Good for him. Get that stink of fhim as soon as possible.
  20. Nobody knows. You're welcome.
  21. ha - you beat me to it! I just saw and posted that in the appropriate thread
