If we're still seeing exponential growth in positive cases a month from now, it wouldn't entirely shock me to see mandatory lockdown similar to what Italy is doing right now. Military in the streets and all that...whatever it takes to end this thing. I'd rather do a short term, mandatory lockdown than a long term "ehhh let's see what happens".....

neat! I have a not-so-mild obsession with my hometown and its history. My grandfather was one of the "founding fathers", and received the Order of Manitoba for his work in designing the town. It's pretty great....

Funny enough... I'm from Pinawa, which most know is a nuclear town. Was Atomic Energy of Canada for awhile and now is Canadian Nuclear Labs, but for awhile in the late 90s/early 00s, the guy in charge of AECL Whiteshell was a Mr Burns.... My dad, a firefighter for AECL, always got a kick outta that.

I had season tickets in that endzone that he scored in, so it was kind of "right in front of us" when it happened. It was pretty bonkers. I just remember how much pressure there was to get the damned thing over with, so people would stop asking about it and they could move on with the rest of the season.

Trump or no Trump, JPT has been an outstanding leader during this unprecedented mess. I'm generally on the fence about him, but throughout this ordeal, I've been VERY impressed. JPT and Deena Hinshaw are my two favourite people lately....Nenshi has been a solid voice, as well.

Combo of both home and work. I can do most of my "office" duties from home, but I'm on air hosting two afternoon drive shows at the same time every weekday, which is something i have to be on site to do. We've locked our doors, and only essential staff are allowed in for the time being.

skin cancer diagnosis for Jon Ryan. Hopefully they've caught it in time. IIRC, Jon's dad Bob used to post here as BRyan, and unfortunately passed away after a battle with cancer.

If the social isolation and non stop COVID news lasts until fall, we will see a horror movie worthy uptick of suicides and suicide attempts. The level of depression and anxiety in North America is already at danger levels. This cloud of negativity makes things worse and you are going to see a MASSIVE fallout if it lasts more than a couple months...

the issue I have is that people who don't take this seriously enough could end up killing someone. That's not hype, that's the reality of how quickly this thing spreads and could end up transmitting from you to a senior or immuno-comprimised person...

Americans are going to wipe themselves off the map. If there's a God, we'll be able to keep them out of our country for a long time...

I'm curious what the PA feels about considering this COVID break their "offseason", and then going straight into playoffs, and the start of a new season immediately after that. It's an odd thought, not having a break after playoffs, and before the start of a new season.......but maybe something they'd do....?

Moreso than direct money to me, what I am really hoping is that businesses will be given injections/incentives to stay afloat and keep their staff. I'm not worried about getting sick, I'm worried about losing my job for any length of time. Really praying that my company, and the businesses whose advertising supports it, can survive for 3 months or whatever this is.

oh, also of note, I was able to use #DirtyFourStripers recently......so thankful for that.
