2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

At the risk of assuming I'm NOT one of the egregious voices.... Those takes are spot on for the insane elder statesmen of this 'board.... -
Forgot about Fox... He's absolutely a guy I want to see starting regularly this year. Hope he comes into camp fired up.
-
I don't think it's that they don't recognize it, it's just that players like Stove and Nevis don't grow on trees and the USFL/XFL were making it harder to recruit. I'm hopeful this year sees more US recruits coming north.
-
Walker was a poor man's Sayles I think. Nevis was a poor man's Stove. But the two pairings should not be mentioned in the same breath.
-
LOL!! The Bombers have not had a true DT since Stove. Sayles and Walker are "adequate"....
-
Dom Wooganowski.... was never going to play anywhere else. I know that it can sound like bullshit, but the last time he signed he said that he's not going to play anywhere else in the CFL. That he'd retire if the Bombers didn't want him anymore. He just wants to live in MB, play music, and a bit of football on the side. Glad he's going to (likely) finish things up with the '25 GC...

Walters is the most proactive GM in the league. He's trying. What we're already seeing early in the offseason is that the XFL/USFL merger is leaving less options for players and more are seeing CFL as a viable one. The CFL has had a hard time bringing up neg list recruits in recent years because of the plethora of jobs available south of the border. I have a feeling this year is gonna be a better recruiting year in recent memory.

at any rate, I'm more than happy to let the guy move on and be average elsewhere as we upgrade to Eli... -

alright, so based on the lowest of possible expectations.....the fact that he was mediocre is killing it compared to what we'd initially thought. I can understand that. -

Kolankowski "killed it" here? -
it's a hamstring... those can be tricky. Best to let him get fully healed rather than rush him back and lose him for a more important part of the year.

from 3DN back in Sept: The six-foot-one, 200-pound target went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars soon thereafter. He made three catches for 17 yards during the preseason and caught a two-point conversion from former CFL quarterback Nathan Rourke. Martin made 25 catches for 405 yards and two touchdowns over three collegiate seasons at the University of Nebraska (2020-22). He reportedly ran a 4.53-second forty-yard dash at his pro day along with a 41-inch vertical jump and an eleven-foot, two-inch broad jump. The 24-year-old had previous stints at Michigan and Iowa before transferring to the Cornhuskers. He caught 11 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown with the Wolverines in 2018 before making five catches for 28 yards and one touchdown with the Hawkeyes in 2019.
