Here's hoping the weather turns out for them! Could be an awfully chilly introduction to Canada for some deep south boys...

...is a far cry from "over the top"....... I've worked with, and coached up, several PBP guys over the years. One of the best things I ever heard from a guy was "I try to start the season on a calmer note, and the closer we get to the end of the season, I build it up. In playoffs, I have the most excitement in my delivery of the whole season. If you blow your top early in the year, how can people interpret end of season (playoffs) excitement from you?" And I think that's a really good point. If you're over the top first game of the year through the end of playoffs, you're doing it wrong... Don't be the entertainment....don't make it about you.....just tell the story, let the game be the focus. -

It's nothing personal...I have zero doubts that Paul's a great guy.........but his PBP style drives me bonkers. And PBP style is something that is very polarizing...some people love one thing and others absolutely despise it. For me, I want a subtle, understated guy....just the facts...I don't need you to make the game "more exciting" by screaming at me. The game is exciting enough...you don't need to make yourself the focus. -

Calling football is a unique talent...can't just be a hockey PBP guy and transfer. The TSN guys like Cuthbert and Miller are extremely unique talents, pulling double duty. Takes a lot of passion for the sport you're covering. I'm certain there's up and comers in the City who will hopefully get a shot one day. -

And that would be a huge mistake and awful for listeners. You're not wrong, but man would that suck. -

The guy's been back in Wpg for awhile now, and has only been working some MJHL hockey games (to my knowledge, he has no football experience), without getting a sniff of anything else. He either doesn't want the full time work, or he's not wanted. Either way...at his age....it's not happening. He's getting close to retirement age himself. -

They call him CJOB Sports Director, but I believe that's a title. AFAIK, Bob's been in semi-retirement for about 5 years now. Doesn't work during the winter... -

...Actually Bob hasn't played a big role at OB for a few years now. He's been in semi retirement awhile. Only works during Bombers season, only covers Bombers now. -
Saw F8 today on Imax, and glad we paid for it. It's incredibly stupid, but a lot of top notch action. If you're a franchise fan, you'll dig this...

Bob's been part time for years now...he's 70 for Christ's sake! He's earned it. Now, I agree, the staff they DO have on full time should be doing more in the offseason, but Bob, for his age, is pretty active on social media. He almost always has something posted on Twitter when there's a Bombers announcement of some kind. Having said that, when the season begins again, there's nobody better (Tait, maybe) than Bob for knowledge of the team and the league....the dude just gets it. Way better than anyone else in radio/TV/print... -
Rod Pedersen in full Rod Pedersen mode: Saying that the names he's "hearing the most" in regard to next commish are a bunch of ******* Riders homers. Glen Suitor, Jim Hopson, Scott Schultz......oi vey.

Yeah....DB97 seems like the kinda guy who would play the puppet role for ownership.......................

You clearly have no problems with a one person convo, anyhow...

AGT is the only show worth watching in the summer, aside from sports, obvs.....

As always, pre-season is best on CJOB...looking forward to Bob's call, especially on the 11th! -
Why does the NFL, NHL, MLB, etc need a Commissioner/President?

http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/jeffrey-orridge-ouster-leaves-cfl-starting-yet/ "...When Orridge empowered (Glen) Johnson to run his football department, he pushed aside Kevin McDonald -- who had been in the role and had better relationships with team coaches and GMs. It is well known in league circles that Johnson craves the commissioner's job, and has aligned himself politically with governors in the hopes of taking over the chair..."
