Question about Rod Pederson vs other media
Noeller replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Important to note: Rod Pedersen is not a reporter.... -
saw at least one talking head tweet out that this is a good comparable for Trouba, at least in terms of price point.
-
This is so true...you have to know who you are and be comfortable with that. I am the least funny person I know, and I'm okay with that, so I don't try to be on air.....
-
I think CBC changing from Strombo to Mac goes to show that the "target demo" isn't as young as some people previously thought. But you aren't wrong....each to their own. Some people like the funny, some people don't. I think "funny" is such a personal thing...I've been a radio junkie my whole life and I don't ever remember thinking a radio DJ was funny ever...

I honestly can't comment on the actual abilities of these guys because I've never had the chance to aircheck them, but I can tell you that there is way too much emphasis put on the American-style broadcasting these days, which is to say, people care more about entertainment and less about information. Personally, I'm fine with "boring" if that means I'm getting the info....I don't need some clown show trying to be funny. As an example, I've never understood the love affair with Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole. Give me someone like Cory Woron any day, who doesn't try to be funny, but just gives you the straight goods.

Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming 2h2 hours ago Rookie corner Terrence Frederick is not practicing today, which makes the takeover of his spot by Johnny Adams make more sense. #Bombers Sounds like TF's dinged up, so that's why Adams goes in for him and not Roberts......

Dave and I were just talking this morning about how people seem to have taken that one drop McDuffie had in pre-season (right along the goal line) and decided that he's got shitty hands, end of story. I'm not sure that's true at all...
-
Question: Is this statement based solely on the one drop in pre-season?

100%.......I firmly believe that our D actually benefitted most from the 3 IMP OL plan.

Stock Market Report: Bombers vs. Argonauts
Noeller replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Certainly...but I don't think anyone ever said Foketi had a turnstile game. At the end of the day, I don't think anyone on this board knows enough about OL to say one way or another. Clearly, the guy who wrote that Stock Market piece knows how to review game tape. -
Stock Market Report: Bombers vs. Argonauts
Noeller replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I would say that just because the OL as a whole played well, doesn't necessarily mean Foketi had a good game. Thing is, Foketi himself said it was going to be a rough game for him because he'd only ever played LT, so playing RT meant having to do everything backwards. I think everyone expected it. Woulda been interesting to see how he progressed into Game 2, but good to hear Hardrick is back. He's been solid on that outside.... -
If he takes his faith really seriously it makes sense.....and radio doesn't pay well in Manitoba anywhere. Outside of guys like Wheeler and Burpee, nobody's getting rich.
-
Definitely possible, as they're all U of M grads......

**** Monahan, **** Gaudreau...**** that whole team. You talk to the fans, and they'll tell you they're basically the new Hawks. Monahan/Gaudreau = Toews/Kane. Their D is better than Chicago's, and now they clearly have the better G......... *sigh*........I ******* hate Calgary sports fans.

Kelly as show host was my first thought. I've never listened to Edmonds call a hockey game, but I don't think anyone's going to be leaving the post of NHL PBP to take on a friggin' morning show in Winnipeg. What might be interesting is a print guy with some radio experience coming over...those guys are all trying to find a life raft to get off the sinking ship, so a guy like Penton or Wiebe, who've done a little bit of radio, might be an interesting option. I still think you need an experienced jock to take on a Morning Show Host spot. It's the anchor for your station...the Morning Host brings in your audience, and it's up to each show after to try and maintain the numbers as best they can.
-
that's interesting. Sacrificing some size, but McDuffie has wheels to burn....
-
Ya you need an actual radio person to be the host. I would think if he's just a morning jock, they can find anyone to fill that spot. There's a ton of guys in the city with radio experience who can talk sports. You can bet that the current "next in line" at the station will want the gig pretty bad, but it'll be up to the PD to decide if he's ready or not. I know JR is currently looking for radio work across Canada... Have seen tweets to that effect recently... But if he's got a bad history with current management he won't be coming back anytime soon...

What is Leibl's role, exactly? I know of him, but not familiar what he does there. They'll promote from within if they feel they have the talent to do it, but they're not scared to spend money if it's the right fit.

Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming Johnny Adams looks to make his season debut this week at boundary corner for the #Bombers. Suffered a lower-body injury in training camp. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming #Bombers receivers Dressler & Smith did not participate in practice today. Both lower-body issues. O'Shea was hopeful Dressler could go. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming #Bombers DBs Randle, Macho, and Posey, all with lower-body issues, were all non-participants today and don't look to play Friday in Montreal Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming #Bombers OLs Jeff Keeping and Pat Neufeld, both with lower-body issues, are both looking progressively better but not practicing yet. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming #Bombers returner Quincey McDuffie (upper-body) is back practicing fully after missing a couple games. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming #Bombers starting RT Jermarcus Hardrick (upper-body) is back working with the first-team offence.

Gonna keep on the Messam train for awhile. As long as Calgary is going to keep putting up points, he's gonna be a big part of that, I reckon.

Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB Randle, posey, dressler, smith, keeping, neufeld not practicing with bombers--looks like all sidelined another week at least Looks like another week of "back-ups" in there...
