  1. he said he compares himself to Ovechkin...that's where his ceiling is. In fact, I believe there's a quote where he said "Give me 5 years, and I'll be like Ovechkin"....and he compared Matthews to Toews. That's pretty much all I needed to hear...
  2. See, now I know it might be just me, but I don't see it as a problem. Hockey is a sport that shouldn't require external hype. The players don't need to be "characters". The game is exciting enough...let the games sell themselves. If the players are good enough...talented enough....then they'll create buzz without having to be brash, outspoken characters.
  3. yeah, the more I read, the more I think we'll see Flanders get reps tomorrow. Maybe a lighter workload for Harris to save him?
  4. Couple of things -- re: Swaggerville. Hockey and Football are hugely, drastically different sports in that regard. That attitude is encouraged in Football. In hockey, I want the exact opposite. But, that's me. re: "Their"....should be "There" re: Matthews: He's said multiple times he's really happy to be going to Toronto. I think some people want to make up stuff about him for whatever reason, but I've never seen anything legitimate saying that he only wants to play down south. Now, having said that, Matthews is American, and I don't trust an American hockey player much more than I trust a Russian......so not much.
  5. This is a good point. Announce him as starting now, to help ticket sales, then can always sit him at game time...
  6. Ever since Laine compared himself to Ovechkin, I've had alarm bells going off. Worst case scenario is he's right...
  7. Short answer? Yes. Long answer? I think they know how important he is to the roster, and maybe more importantly to them, they know how important he is at the ticket window. If he's *close*, they'd let him play, even if he's not fully 100% yet. And honestly, if it's a situation where he could tweak it again and miss 6 weeks, I'd rather sit him this week and give him a pile of time to heal up good n proper before the next game...
  8. sincerely hope they're not jeopardizing the long term just to have him in there for Game 1...
  9. Regardless of games played, McDavid was the best new player in the league this past year and should have won.
  10. I'm actually okay with the Jets not taking Laine. There's some red flags about his attitude that worry me.
  11. I maintain the best customer service I have ever had in my life is from the WBB FC. When I had seasons (before moving to AB), the folks in the ticket office were top notch, and then every time I've ever had to deal with the Bomber Store for ANYTHING, it's been phenomenal. I don't know how they do it...I used to think it was all Jeff Bannon, but even since he left, it's been really stellar. I order stuff online a fair bit and have to get it shipped out here...never an issue. Not saying they're perfect, but for me, it's been the best customer service I've ever had.
  12. thank you
  13. as has been noted several times, Hurl is hurt and not playing this week...
  14. massive drop off...really, really sucks.
  15. that's a hell of a class....and long overdue for all of them, I might add....
  16. Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB Andrew Harris not practicing with blue bombers. Doubtful for Friday's opener.
  17. My favourite post of 2016 so far...
  18. Lawless says, Flanders at RB, Hurl at LB/Feoli-Gudino at REC would be the plan if Harris can't go....
  19. the whole point of the "Kuale" thing is it's "Former Argos That MOS Knows That No Longer Plays Like He Used To"......was Romby Bryant, then Kuale, then Lin J Shell........Macho fits the bill completely except for the Argos thing.
  20. Lin J Shell.......who actually turned out to not be horrible.
  21. I personally would rather have Matthews on the Jets, but that's just me. Either way, you're getting a really good player.
  22. *edit second time* with all the uncertainty surrounding WBB RB position...... Jerome Messam
  23. Mike's is closest to what I'm thinking. About 9-9 for Blue, and Ottawa takes a big time fall back to earth after a major fluke last year.
  24. He watched a lot of games because he's a raging Habs fan, but he's definitely not a hockey guy. He never fit in at all. Great music/movies/TV/pop culture guy... Not a sports guy.
