  1. for what it's worth, I agreed with your first post.....
  2. Let's just fly under the radar as long as we can. Claw, scratch, scrape our way into playoffs.... #WhateverItTakes and go from there....
  3. Herb Zurkowsky @HerbZurkowsky1 Duron Carter missed practice because he's feeling ill. No suspension yet. #Alouettes
  4. Making quite the leap from "he's not at practice...maybe it's about the suspension...." to "he's absolutely not going to be there and we're going to absolutely win and people are going to put an asterisk next to it" Let's dial it back about 20% there, squirelly dan....
  5. Zurkowsky says Duron Carter conspicuously absent from practice today. Wonder if there was a meeting with the league/arbitrator re: 1-gm suspension.
  6. Anyone who thinks Willy was crap last year should go back and watch the first game of the year vs Sask. Also the game in Calgary before Stoudermire out the ball on the ground and everything unravelled. He was really good last year and then got hurt again. Not sure his confidence will ever recover and I'm glad Nichols is doing what he's doing, but Willy can be a very good QB in this league when his head's on right...
  7. I guess I should say...don't confuse him with any kind of journalist. That goes out the window when you're paid to have a bias. Even columnists are journalists, technically. RP is basically Darren Cameron crossed with Ed Tait crossed with Bob Irving. All those blogs Cameron writes that we all ***** about as being so painfully homer? Riders fans LIVE for that ****, so Pedersen feeds it ad nauseum...
  8. I really caution people to not compare Rod Pedersen to media personnel. He's not that anymore. Basically, the team pays him to be a huge fan. Yes, he broadcasts the games on CKRM. I believe he even still hosts Sports Cage in the afternoons. But he is paid by the team to be a huge fan and make sure Rider Nation is always fired up and excited.
  9. I started with "disposure" and then saw ", starting o-line..." and had to stop reading....
  10. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Important to note: Rod Pedersen is not a reporter....
  12. saw at least one talking head tweet out that this is a good comparable for Trouba, at least in terms of price point.
  13. This is so true...you have to know who you are and be comfortable with that. I am the least funny person I know, and I'm okay with that, so I don't try to be on air.....
  14. I think CBC changing from Strombo to Mac goes to show that the "target demo" isn't as young as some people previously thought. But you aren't wrong....each to their own. Some people like the funny, some people don't. I think "funny" is such a personal thing...I've been a radio junkie my whole life and I don't ever remember thinking a radio DJ was funny ever...
  15. I honestly can't comment on the actual abilities of these guys because I've never had the chance to aircheck them, but I can tell you that there is way too much emphasis put on the American-style broadcasting these days, which is to say, people care more about entertainment and less about information. Personally, I'm fine with "boring" if that means I'm getting the info....I don't need some clown show trying to be funny. As an example, I've never understood the love affair with Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole. Give me someone like Cory Woron any day, who doesn't try to be funny, but just gives you the straight goods.
  16. Darrin Bauming ‏@DarrinBauming 2h2 hours ago Rookie corner Terrence Frederick is not practicing today, which makes the takeover of his spot by Johnny Adams make more sense. #Bombers Sounds like TF's dinged up, so that's why Adams goes in for him and not Roberts......
  17. Dave and I were just talking this morning about how people seem to have taken that one drop McDuffie had in pre-season (right along the goal line) and decided that he's got shitty hands, end of story. I'm not sure that's true at all...
  18. Question: Is this statement based solely on the one drop in pre-season?
  19. 100%.......I firmly believe that our D actually benefitted most from the 3 IMP OL plan.
  20. Certainly...but I don't think anyone ever said Foketi had a turnstile game. At the end of the day, I don't think anyone on this board knows enough about OL to say one way or another. Clearly, the guy who wrote that Stock Market piece knows how to review game tape.
  21. I would say that just because the OL as a whole played well, doesn't necessarily mean Foketi had a good game. Thing is, Foketi himself said it was going to be a rough game for him because he'd only ever played LT, so playing RT meant having to do everything backwards. I think everyone expected it. Woulda been interesting to see how he progressed into Game 2, but good to hear Hardrick is back. He's been solid on that outside....
  22. If he takes his faith really seriously it makes sense.....and radio doesn't pay well in Manitoba anywhere. Outside of guys like Wheeler and Burpee, nobody's getting rich.
  23. Definitely possible, as they're all U of M grads......
  24. **** Monahan, **** Gaudreau...**** that whole team. You talk to the fans, and they'll tell you they're basically the new Hawks. Monahan/Gaudreau = Toews/Kane. Their D is better than Chicago's, and now they clearly have the better G......... *sigh*........I ******* hate Calgary sports fans.
