  1. ...But, he's been good for the economy...and that goes a long way.
  2. http://www.newstalk770.com/2015/09/10/74733/?sc_ref=twitter Calgary Stampeders head coach and GM John Hufnagel is taking on the rumour mill head-on. Hufnagel is responding to a report that he was heading to Saskatchewan. His full statement: In response to rumours regarding my future in the Canadian Football League with a club other than the Calgary Stampeders, I feel the need to express the fact that I am extremely happy and proud to be a member of the Stampeders, I’m under contract with the club beyond the 2015 season and I intend to honour that commitment. I’m very pleased with our organization and all we have achieved, and I look forward to many future successes. After reconfirming these intentions to our fans, players and organization, I hope everyone’s focus remains entirely on having a tremendous 2015 season, not speculation or false rumours about the future.
  3. This....and the whole "People want change, but not THAT much change" thing, as well. If the election was today, I think it'd come down to this. But, as mentioned, there's a month to go.....
  4. So much this....I don't know if it's a Madden thing, or what, but people get so worked up about a guy's physical stats. It's so much less important than they realize...
  5. One of the few times I'll ever agree with TBurg, but pretty much this.....and he's the only guy I'd do it for.
  6. More than a month to go yet...so much can happen in that time. What'll be interesting is to see how much apathy there'll be in a month when it actually comes time to head to the polling stations.
  7. Well, I'll say this...if it's about Huff wanting out and saying "I'm open to all offers...", that's probably the only guy in the league that I'd be willing to dump MOS et al for.....
  8. Willy getting hurt is the unknown factor in all of this.....I guarantee you they're making the case that the record is only indicative of the depth problem, and that with Willy, they're a contending team. ....And I don't disagree with that....
  9. Edmonton had a lack of good interior Canadian OL but had a few experienced American OL around. Edmonton is probably moving to a 4 NI OL with O'Donnell back in the fold so they can afford to get rid of an American tackle. But more than anything, this trade was Greaves for a second round pick. Capers is just a throw-in. He may never even start a game for us. Exactly this....it's all about us essentially getting into the first round...
  10. If he feels like upper management is forcing him upstairs in order to hang on to DD, and still feels like he wants to coach, then maybe it's something he looks at...?
  11. Walters' first year at Guelph was O'Shea's final year. Pat Tracy was on staff at Guelph then and he was also ST coordinator of the Ticats in 1998 when Walters was there. I knew I wasn't dreaming it...
  12. Walters and MOS played together in CIS, I believe, and Pat Tracy was their coach, no? Am I crazy or did I not read that...?
  13. I was "raised" on the Attitude Era, and two of my personal faves were always Val Venis and The Godfather....loved their whole gimmick.
  14. Austin Rocky Foley Bret Hart Shawn Michaels
  15. If this kid is in any way related to Byron Capers, I like it that much more.......
  16. This was a long time coming....interesting to see what Capers can do.
  17. http://www.bluebombers.com/article/bombers-acquire-2016-2nd-round-pick-and-ol-in-trade WINNIPEG, MB., September 9, 2015 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the club has acquired Edmonton’s best second round selection in 2016, and International offensive lineman Selvish Capers in exchange for National offensive lineman Chris Greaves. Edmonton holds two selections in the second round of the 2016 CFL Draft – their own and Saskatchewan’s – and the club has acquired the higher of those two picks. Capers (6-5, 308, West Virginia, November 15, 1986, in New Orleans, LA) has spent the past two seasons with Edmonton. He started nine games in 2014,, playing seven at tackle and two at guard. “With the depth we feel we have accumulated at this spot, we felt strongly about acquiring a pick in the second round of next year’s draft, as well as a lineman with some experience in this league,” said Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. “Chris has been a very valuable member of our organization for six seasons now, both on and off the field, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers sincerely thank him for everything he has done for this team, and our community.”
  18. I really believe the only reason we dumped Etch is because good DCs became available. MBs offense looked just fine with Willy in there (in terms of production -- protection still lacking) so I'm really not sure they feel that MB is the problem ("it's the back-ups, not MB!") and I think the only way they dump MB at the end of the season, is if someone that's a proven upgrade becomes available. Now, I'm not saying that's RIGHT, but I'm saying that's what I think they'll do.....
  19. You need to define/quantify that......such a broad term, "better".....
  20. gary lawless ✔ @garylawless told that Henoc Muamba is on the Giants "short-list." not sure where that leaves his potential return to CFL.
  21. The arrogance of some people to think that of he's not telling the media and fans what's going on, then he's not being accountable. What makes MOS a great coach, and one that players want to play for, is that he's accountable in private, and doesn't throw people under the bus publicly.
  22. Exactly. 17 to 85 seems to have this erroneous reasoning that by keeping a Berry or Mack with the organization for a sufficient period of time it will bear fruit in the form of long-term success. In reality, patience will not be rewarded by tolerating mediocrity year after year - it will just result in more mediocrity. Every team in the league won't tolerate losing for very long (proven if you take the time to review each team's history) - they will fire the personnel responsible for the team's underachievement and move on to new coaching/management. The Bombers have been mediocre for so long because they have hired inexperienced/inept coaches and management the past decade plus. It has nothing to do with not showing adequate patience for the inept coaching/personnel. Which, I'd argue, we had no choice but to do because no qualified/experienced coach/manager wants to come here because we are a coaching graveyard that fires people constantly and shows zero patience...
  23. Heard about TVMC last week...did some noodling around with it and it seems interesting. Lotta content...just a matter of getting a good stream.
  24. I'm good with the whole 3 Year Plan thing. Gotta give these guys time continue building. With Drew Willy healthy and playing, this team is as good as anyone. I truly believe that.
  25. Is this a spot Jasper Simmons fills full time? Or does it have to be another DB-type??
