13.5 years of small town radio, if there's one thing I know, it's people complaining about the weather forecasts. Sigh.....
-
Edm and Ham for sure...just because our fan base is that much more rabid. And the 25 years thing. People are so angry.

It was in both papers....absolutely. I believe the first person to write it was Lawless....

Re: Marve, it seems to me that he has way more goodwill built up from the fans than most back-ups. I think his honeymoon period will be longer than most. If he actually shows half-way decent tonight (doesn't even have to win, but is just "exciting") then they'll want Willy traded tomorrow...

Is he? What is he wrong about? "There are some teams out there bursting with young talent. Those teams don't have to do much in the offseason, they simply need to wait for their players to develop into young stars. That's not the case with the Jets." This was the line that got me...I literally burst out laughing.

Donaldson is honestly amazing. Favorite player. Meeeee tooooo....him and Tulo, for sure.....

So this is going over well.............. http://www.csnwashington.com/hockey-washington-capitals/talk/season-preview-winnipeg-jets?utm_campaign=Contact+SNS+For+More+Referrer&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=snsanalytics To get you ready for the 2015-16 season, we will be previewing all 30 NHL in 30 days, division by division. Check the bottom of the page for a schedule of each preview. Today’s team: Winnipeg Jets 2014-15 record: 43-26-13, 5th in the Central How they finished: Lost in 4 games to Anaheim in the Western Conference Quarterfinals Coach: Paul Maurice (3rd season) Notable additions: RW Matt Fraser Notable subtractions: RW Michael Frolik, RW Lee Stempniak, C Jim Slater RELATED: Caps have two of the 50 top NHL goalie prospects Schedule against the Capitals: Wed. Nov. 25 at Washington, Sat. Dec. 5 at Winnipeg Outlook: What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. That's what seems to be going on on Winnipeg after the team was swept in the first round of the playoffs and made no moves in the offseason to get better. There are some teams out there bursting with young talent. Those teams don't have to do much in the offseason, they simply need to wait for their players to develop into young stars. That's not the case with the Jets. Though there are a few young players who can develop into contributors--Adam Lowry (22), Mark Scheifele (22)--there's not a lot to build around on this roster. There is no young corps of budding superstars besides a few notable goaltending prospects capable of leading the Jets for years to come. Instead, there's a group of players who are in their prime and have led the Jets to the middle of the pack. Players like Andrew Ladd, Blake Wheeler and Dustin Byfuglien are good pieces to have, but not anything to build on. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec has made a career out of playing dominant in net for 10 games and then looking like a backup the next 10. And yet, the Jets did almost nothing other than watching Michael Frolik sign with Calgary. Expectations: Last season was a success because they made the playoffs for the first time since moving to Winnipeg, but the playoffs are the ceiling for this roster and they did not even win a single game last year in the first round. They could easily fail to reach the postseason this year after failing to make themselves any better at all.

Wasn't that when he was already an OC? He's just a QB coach now, so he should be ready to listen. No, that's when he was a QB coach for the Roughriders. We offered him OC and he said no, that he wanted to be HC. I'm not sure what happened after that, but he took a job OCing in BC instead of coming here. Then when they hired Cortez, they made Cortez OC and QB Coach, and they demoted Khari and now he's Receivers Coach, not a QB Coach. the fact that he hasn't come back after this long makes me really wonder if he's got a sour taste about Winnipeg, as a city, and the club, specifically....

Bars, Night Clubs & Dives from Back in the Day

When I lived in rural Westman and between the age of 16-18 me and my buddies would often goto the Double Decker in downtown Brandon, mainly because they rarely, if ever, asked for ID. Liked that bar, english style pub with a couple pool tables and live music sometimes. Still a good place to go. Houston's is still Houston's, the 40 is unchanged (no young people and they also get bands and the occasional comedian on tour) and the Roadhouse is where the cool kids go. I'm more a Joe Beeverz/The Dock kind of guy these days. And it's been ages since I set foot in the Key Rock, I swear, Never been to Joe Beeverz (heard about them tho, as they were showing Wheaties away playoff games) and never heard of The Dock. I'm down that way for a wedding in a couple weeks so I might have to have a peek... Joe Beeverz is no big deal if you're from the big city (you guys have Wild Wing after all) but it's good little sports bar for a Brandon sized city. Plenty of flatscreens, decent bar food and good beer on tap. The Dock is a recent place that opened in an old building on Princess St. Styled as an Irish Pub/restaurant. Good food and drinks, at least whenever I've been there. Worth a look if you get a chance. You had me at "good beer" which I'm hoping is a big craft selection... -
Or how much playing a team with no offence at all helps. How can you tell which it is?
-
Miller tried already. Went to him personally and tried to talk him into it prior to MB coming on board, but KJ said no dice, apparently, cause he only wanted HC gig, which they did interview him for, but ultimately chose MOS.

Need to get some Donaldson gear now, as my Lawrie stuff is relegated to gym wear... Ha ha.

Easy to say Mtl offense is the issue but Edm D makes everyone look silly. This game was billed as two good Ds going head to head, and it sure looked to be the case.

How about all them sacks tonight? Cripes. I thought that only happened to us...??

Our QB play really hasn't been as bad, over the years, as the teams surrounding it.... -

oh **** off....Dinwiddie came in and won vs Calgary in 2009, Joey Elliot was outstanding when he first came in for Buck in 2011 (until he got hurt, too...) It really hasn't been that long.... -
Sometimes, you just gotta go "Yay Canada!", and throw out the political stuff....

I'll go out on a small limb and say this: If we don't turn the ball over, we win. -

The town I live in now has a pub that features live music once or twice a week, the rest of the time, they run iTunes through their sound system. They have different playlists and stuff set up, but it's just iTunes running, and it's THE place to go in town.... -
Someone pleeeeeease 'shop the love-child being referenced here....

While going to school in Brandon, I DJed for LOOK Music.....weddings, bars, you name it.....and that's the name of the game. I'm a pretty big music snob when it comes to certain things, and I make a decent living now programming music for radio, but at the end of the day, you HAVE to know who your audience is, and give 'em what they want... -

Disappointed that I never got to go to Silverado's before it changed. I remember listening to QX104 as a kid and hearing commercials for Country shows at both Silverado's and the Spike. My mom lives in one of the newer parts of T-Cones, so I spend a fair amount of time there when I'm home, but I've never gone to the Spike. Drive by it all the time on my way into TC, but have never ventured in. I assumed it was a scary biker bar.....but have never been in..... Any Brandon Bar memories? 17to85 and I were in the Brandon U dorms together, late 90s-early 00s. Houston's was THE place to be, back when it was still a Country bar. There was Yaks in the VIc Inn at the time, and their Toonie Tuesday promotion was always a good time. The North 40 (at the time) was known as "The Over 40", as it tended to have an older clientele. There was also OCCs downtown which was primarily frequented by the first nations population (hence the nickname of Occasionally Caucasian Club) but we went there a time or two and didn't feel TOO out of place. This was all before CanadInns came in with Road House, of course.....which changed things a bit. Not a bad place and spent some time in there after I'd left school, but came back to the Wheat City to visit.... Oh, and bonus props to "The Key-Rock" for it's 2.95 high balls and free/cheap pool...... -
God I hope so........
