[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch And Fine Discussion
Noeller replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
From the Wpg FP: "...Willy was examined at Investors Group Field immediately after the hit by team physician Dr. Peter MacDonald. MacDonald is regarded as one of the premier experts in sports medicine in Western Canada and is also the head physician for the Winnipeg Jets. He is a professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He is also the chief research and innovations officer at the Pan Am Clinic. MacDonald was joined by at least two other doctors and longtime Bombers trainer Al Couture in treating Willy and then supervising his return to the field this week..." I'm just gonna go ahead and trust this guy, if that's all right... -
I literally laughed out loud at the thought of Andrew Ladd making 8m per season in any deal....holy Christ is that awesome. There is absolutely no reason to think Chevy is that stupid.
-
as long as they show SOME progress from week to week, I set mid-season as the time when I'd like to see it looking "complete"...and then be fully humming like a diesel engine by playoff time.
-
Again, I think there is a really good reason, and that's that it's going to take time for this defense to come together, and with the new rules in place, it's effecting a lot of teams. I just wanna see baby steps forward and am not expecting monumental things until Labour Day. I am fully willing to be patient with this defense as long as they show even a modicum of improvement from week to week.

How do you know that Kohlert and Richards were close to being ready when the Bombers don't give any injury details? That's what you got from that post?Or is that another back-handed slap at Mike O'Shea? What I got from the post is you making statements that you can't possibly back up. LOL at the nerve of you, of all people, saying that..... -
If I'm the Jets, I don't like more than 4 or 5 years, max, in term for Ladd, and I'd say an AAV of 5-5.5m. Start him at 6, but it's gotta get lower as he goes. You don't wanna be paying this guy more than 3 or 4 TOPS by the end of his deal...

How does everybody feel about this "coverage"
Noeller replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Part of the concern is that they don't want to give away too much "free" content. They still try to make money from the actual paper they produce. Until their respective media outlets finds a way to monetize their tweets, there's going to be some concern over giving away their reporting for free... -

I disagree with this. In this new media age, tweeting is part of their job. It should be used to push followers / readers to their columns. It should be to gain trust from and expand their followers base to drive more traffic to their respective papers. Those tweets do nothing to make me want to read tomorrow's column. At least for Bob Irving, he doesn't have a column. I can tell you for a fact that this is basically true. In the new age of media, if you're not embracing Social Media with everything you do, then you're irrelevant and being left behind. You want people to care about your column the next day? Drive up interest via your social media page. As for expecting them to be fans....they're *supposed* to be impartial, but I think we can all agree that the reason Ed Tait is so damn popular is because he's a huge fan of the team, and has stated many times that he was raised going to games with his father from a young age. I'm not going to go outta my way to complain that these guys aren't doing their jobs...that's not for me to say. But as a fan, would I like to see more from them at practices? Absolutely... -
I would like to see the ages of the players and their point production at the time they signed those deals though. ******* Ladd is 29 years old, you don't commit to guys that age for 7 years at that big a ticket, especialyl when some of your teams most interesting prospects are high end talent wingers. You wanna pay Ladd 7 million per year when he's 35 and pushed down the lineup to 3rd line minutes? So let him walk? If the only option is 7 x 7 or walk, then yes...you absolutely let him walk. And, again, I'm a huge Ladd fan going back to the 2010 Hawks team, which is one of my all time favourite teams. Luckily for Jets fans, that's not the only option. They'll work out a declining structure. Something more in the range of 25-30 mil over 5 years...

Knowing Kevin Glenn, I have absolutely no faith that we actually win in 2007 with him at the helm. Revisionist history. I remember the 2007 season clearly, and if Glenn doesn't have his arm broken, we kill the Riders with our defense alone. Hell, they came within 4 points of winning the damn thing with Dinwiddie, and that included an "interception" that actually skipped off the turf and wasn't overturned because no replay yet...

The thing I hate about statements like the ones you're making, is you make it seem like they WANT to lose. Like they aren't trying as hard as they can to win, and doing everything they can to win. You don't think these guys are desperate to win?? What more can they do than everything possible...?? This is the problem in a nutshell- if you think that the players did as good as they could against Hamilton, the team is in big trouble. I honestly believe those guys were trying as hard as they could...
-
7x7 for Ladd?? Nobody on earth is going to pay him that. Ridiculous. And I'm a huge Ladd fan!

Herb Zurkowsky @HerbZurkowsky1 I'm told #Als' MLB @TheBEAR45 has a torn pectoral muscle and will miss the season. Bye bye, Fantaseh season..... -
Don't forget, Westerman hasn't seen a snap in a real game in like 2 or 3 years...he's gonna need some time and patience, here...
-
adding to this current discussion, the last thing Westerman needs is LESS reps. Let the dude get into game shape and figure out the intricacies of the 3-Down Game. By mid-season, I'm expecting huge things from JW....
-
Nobody is, nor should be, on the hot seat........
-
...that's what I was thinking....
-
how quickly we forget about the greatness of Devin Setegouchi's one year in Wpg....
