  1. I will be REALLY disappointed if we pick up Sheets for anything more than the league minimum as TCF.....
  2. Just temporary till TBay gets their arena ready...
  3. This Brier was a middling WCT event, at best...
  4. I ******* hate kids today....so very much.
  5. the last one. Sadly, it's literally a dying sport...
  6. I have family who lived there for a long time, and I've been told that Montreal is all about the Habs, and Quebec City is all about the Alouettes....
  7. Wiecek says they're on pace to do HALF the total attendance of 2009. Craziness!!
  8. One of many reasons I dislike Alberta sports fans....
  9. epic pants pooping from Carruthers rink this afternoon. At 5 losses, all but eliminated from the bonspiel...
  10. the beauty of curling is that, more so than just about any sport, anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Carruthers got real hot for a week. McEwen has a sad and long history of choking in the provincials. Lost to Stoughton, lost to Fowler, lost to Carruthers. Is the #1 team in the world by a LOT, but can not win the Prov's to save his life...
  11. He lost to Reid twice in a row at the select, hard to say he's the best when he can't beat his competition... You've hated him for years! Just last night you wanted to bash his head in with a pipe!
  12. Well, Rama is basically done now, at 4 losses. Really had an awful week so far, but in fairness, it's a first year team...#3 seed at Select, and fluked their way through that week. It's unfortunate we don't have our best team repping us at the Brier, but such is curling. Mike's likely the only other team in the world that'd give those juice monkeys a run for their money this week. Time to start thinking about the women's worlds and rooting Jonesy on to another championship...
  13. In other news, people actually watch Key and Peele..............#Yikes.
  14. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter, sir...
  15. Need someone else to bump out Nashville, and then anything could happen. If there's ANYONE who's going to surprise people come spring, it's Minnie. If Duby stays hot, that team could go a LONG way...
  16. Koe had (has?) the flu pretty bad, according to reports. Was a total mess. Morris (Team Canada), everyone who follows curling knew that team was going to be the shits. They don't curl together full time. Morris and Rycroft wanted to take the year off, but were talked into coming back because they got a free berth to the Brier. They've curled maybe 2 or 3 bonspiels this year, tops. I said going in they'd be lucky to be .500. Morris has been so bad, they gave Pat Simmons the skip duties and Morris is just going to play 3rd and shoot now. Reider had a pretty awful weekend, but seems to have settled down a bit. Still got an uphill battle, but if they can get hot..... Gushue seems to have hit a rough spot and will have to get his **** figured out, or he's going to be in a dogfight at the end... Jacobs should have smooth sailing to his 2nd Brier title, but you just never know what'll happen come playoff time. Jimmy Cotter has been looking sharp, and could surprise...
  17. What are some examples? I'm looking to be entertained. All events where they might be on TV. Hockey games and curling bonspiels (Brier, Scotties, etc...) It's really sickening. Has anyone mentioned the Arizona Coyotes "Rider Nation" night that they're doing? Getting all those jagoffs to fly down and try to pack their arena with Rider gear. Disgusting.
  18. Moe Khan @MoeKhan19 @DarrinBauming Millington has great hands. Numbers game in MTL. Pierre is a blue collar type of player. Retweeted by Darrin Bauming
  19. Apparent asking price for Petry is a 2md rounder which seems like not enough, but we'll see...
  20. Jeff Petry apparently on the way outta Edmonton. Being held out of the line up tonight as a healthy scratch on MacTs orders. Apparently just finalizing the details, according to Twitter....
  21. Ya the CCA just changed their name to Curling Canada to be in line with other national sports organizations. Still do tons of teaching seminars. Great new program called Rocks And Rings that sends curlers to the schools with an indoor program that gives young kids the basic idea and hopefully encourages them to try out the real thing. Kaitlyn Lawes and Reid Carruthers have been doing Sask/MB/NW Ont over the last several years as a part time job with the CCA...
  22. Completely not to do with this thread at all, but Kerry Burtnyk winning in 1995 changed everything for me. I was always a curling fan, but I became hardcore after that win. I still suck, but I play every chance I get, and watch every WCT/CCA event I can....
  23. Now you're just being obtuse. You and I both know a one-off tourney is not the decider of "best". And again, I'm a history guy and love the tradition of the Brier. I'm just saying it's no longer the right way to determine our national Rep. Keep the Brier and it's grand tradition, but it's no longer the proper way to determine the national champion. Actually what might be a great idea for the future is give the Brier champ a ticket to the Canada Cup, and then that bonspiel decides Canada's best.
  24. It's not about Mike, it's about all the teams sitting at home because the disparity in provinces is so great. It's not okay to have a national championship that doesn't feature all the best teams in it. We all know the beat teams are the ones who tour full time on the WCT. The national championship should feature the top 10 (or however many) Canadian teams on the order of merit. Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario should all have multiple entries. Hell, Manitoba could have sent 5 teams this year that would be better than the bottom half of the Brier. Again, this just comes back to the fact that, as a fan, I just wanna see Best On Best. I have zero patience for guys in rubber boots and a slip on slider that have never seen arena ice....
