I would just personally like to see our national champion crowned from among the 10 best teams in the country. There can still be a tournament for all provinces and territories winners, but it doesn't decide the national champion...

He really should try winning a watch in barefoot draws to the button.........or somesuch...........

Most notable omission is the World #1 Mike McEwen, who lost the MB final to Carruthers. There's a growing voice, among those who follow curling closely, to make the Canada Cup the decider of Canada's national champion, because it actually has all the top teams in it. The Brier is no longer representative of Canada's best teams. Provinces regularly pumping out several top teams, but only one can participate, so the Brier becomes a tired notion. At any rate, I love the idea of relegation and think it's long overdue. Only the best of the best teams should be able to participate. Looking forward to watching as many games as possible this week. 17to85 and I will be there Saturday and Sunday night to cheer on Rama and the Bison Boys...

I think a lot of people are missing my original point. It's not a question of whether players are better than before...that's obvious. Obviously 4th liners now aren't as plug-y as they used to be. But the point is, "imagine how much better the rosters would be, top to bottom" if there were less teams and less players needed. I mean, it'd be like Olympics all the time, almost. If you had only the best of the best players going?? How is that not a good thing?

The Wild Card race aka hockey's Final Four
Noeller replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Desperately want them to finish 9th. Just close enough that they miss playoffs, but still don't get a decent draft pick. **** that organization and their fan base all the way around... -
Terrified how that lead over Minnie has dwindled. Yikes....that race is tighter than a nun on Sunday.....
-
Amd think of how much better it would be of rosters were smaller and only the best of the best were in the NHL. Less yes and smaller sched is only smart.

According to Twitter, Phillip Hunt had been in talks with CFL teams, but is electing to sign with a new NFL team....

Yeah, Horton is really irrelevant to this deal. It's all about ridding themselves of the Clarkson albatross...

Season is too long. Should be over in May. They played a 68 game season back in the day & the SC playoffs were over before Victoria Day weekend. I like that. But that was in a 12 team NHL. Would give anything to go back to about a 21 or 24 team league, with no more than 70 games each. Less teams means we need less players, which means the talent pool wouldn't be so thinned out. You'd see quality of play increase, and less crappy players out there who can't keep up, so they hack and slash the stars. Overall, the NHL would be a WAY better league with less teams and less games...

Can never have enough NI OL bodies. I don't care if it's "only TCF"....bring him in, and certainly worth a look.

Burmistrov said he'd never play for Uncle Claude again, but apparently has no beefs with Maurice and, for what it's worth, his agent says he's more than willing to play for the Jets next year.
-
Burmistrov might be completely worthless right now, but I'm not sure Winnik is worth the 2nd. There'd have to be something else coming from the Leafs...

Exactly. Walters offers $150k. Desjardins probably counters at $350k.Aside from reading Rider forum's why do people have this impression of Desjardins? The Bomber's won 5 free agent auctions, did they pay too much? After all they beat Ottawa all 5 times. Taman has the highest paid Canadian receiver by a mile, Popp has highest paid receiver and Wally is paying huge for a pair of LB's yet Desjardins is the only GM ruining the league with out of this world contracts? I don't get it. Can't say for sure as there's no evidence that Desjardins was after any of the players that the Bombers signed. Ottawa signed SirVincent Rogers before the Bombers signed Bryant so it looks like he was their priority for Import O-lineman. Some comments from Walters suggested that this was also the Bombers grading of the two. Anyone know what $$ Rogers signed for? Heard Rogers got $140k per season. Bryant got $160k. Rogers was seen as more attractive if the two because of perceived value. In my opinion Walters ended up getting amazing value from Bryant. I honestly wouldn't of complained if we paid 200K for Bryant. Yeah totally agreed. I had the expectation of 200k, and coming below that seemed like a huge steal to me...

Goes back farther than that. To his days ******* around in Hamilton...

According to Drew from Scratching Post, Grigsby is back with Ham...

This is exactly what I want to know. Because unless you're the blindest homer, you have to think things didn't work as perfectly as Cameron wants everyone to believe.
-
Again, my original post here said "I get why he did it....but it's still lame" What would be cool is to have a fly on the wall reporter there who can tell you what REALLY went down, not just some Blue and Gold coloured account of things.
-
I would just rather you tell me how it actually is, rather than spoon feeding the koolaid. We're not Rider Fans....
-
This, exactly. I get why he has to put so much homer spin on it, but it makes for a boring read. The essence of drama is conflict. Don't gloss over the SVR To OTT thing...tell me why it sucked and how you fixed it with Plan B. But again, I get why you can't do that either...

I have some thoughts about that, actually. Possibly semi related to the "What Happened To OB.com" thread. Call it a "bot" thread...

The problem is the people judging Willy by the injured part of the year. The healthy part of his year, he was dynamite. If they keep him clean, he'll have a great year. He's worth every penny they give him when they get around to it.

I laughed REALLY hard when I saw that earlier...jeeze...
