  1. It really is the exact same thing. It's getting gross.
  2. That's just a silly game to play. If we played that game 2 months ago, why sign Stanley Bryant, cause he might get hurt. Go with the smart money, start Taormina and save 80 grand. What a silly answer. Bryant is a known upgrade over January and we sorely needed O line upgrades. Well worth the money especially over a guy who shouldn't be starting in the first place. Willy's a sophomore starter who was great for the first 5 games then looked like a rookie for the rest of the season. If he was one of the top 2 QB's in the league, we'd not be having this discussion. BTW: The point I was trying to make, which went over your head, is that we have a lot more on the line if we give Willy his 150K raise, 100K of it as a signing bonus than we do if we simply wait and let him earn his raise. You're right there's hardly any risk involved in allowing him to play out the last year of his contract and test free agency while we also have his heir apparent (to some) hoping to head to the NFL next offseason. Worse comes to worse, Bombers lose Willy to 2016 free-agency. Marve wouldn't commit here and wanting to exhaust his NFL options. Brohm might take the same route. And we end up with Portish. ...FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
  3. ...and they've known for a very long time that an extension would be (hopefully) necessary, so there can be no doubt that this wasn't part of their plan all along.
  4. I never said we were against the cap when I said Vega's cut may be related to a Willy extension. You're talking like you know, when in reality you have no clue what our cap situation is.Let's say Walters projects to be $300k under the cap before the season starts. A Willy extension puts him over that, so he cuts Vega to sign Willy and still allow that $300k cushion. Regardless of your thinking related to the cap, you're making it sound like one had to be done, in order to do the other. This...people thinking we're hard against the cap, so we need to clear out space to make room for 100k. Can't possibly be true...they're not that stupid.
  5. And? All Winnipeg reporters had to do in Florida was focus on mini-camp... Point is, still gotta get to Florida. I'd think it's easier for a media outlet to send people down the road to the stadium than it is to send people all the way to Florida. $$$$ That's the point... if the newspaper has spent $$ sending these guys to Florida, send back actual content. "Ehhh...good enough. Everyone's focused on Jets right now anyhow..." There is room in the media to focus on 2 things you know. something something ADD Generation something something......
  6. All of you who think that 100k is going to put us in a financial bind re: SMS, must really think Kyle Walters is a moron....

  8. The point is, you wouldn't have to cut a star player to find 100k....
  9. And if we don't have the cap space? Who do you cut? If we're talking about a 100k signing bonus, we're also talking about cutting that much salary. So who do you want to get rid of? Nick Moore, Clarence Denmark? Bryant Turner, Chris Randle? It's gotta be someone making good money, or a handful of veteran guys making more than league average. Either way, you're talking about replacing a star with a rookie, or several veterans with rookies. All to accommodate a guy who is under contract and going to be here either way. 100k = one new rookie body.

  11. Getting married and wanting that security in a location could be part of it. Nothing is guaranteed but maybe signing now firms up a plan to set down roots in Winnipeg, instead of having to wait a year to see how it plays out. Signing bonus will go farthest in terms of "why would he sign now?" ....
  12. Toby mighta been to fastest skater in th league...
  13. In fairness, you legitimately expect that for every word you've ever said or typed...
  14. If I could pick Ducks in 3, I would. I want Perry and Getzlaf to eat them alive....
  15. Saw a good line on Twitter yesterday, something along the lines of "Rogers: Attempting to ruin all of Canada's great sporting institutions..."
  16. Love the location. The walk from BPs on Pemb isn't bad at all. Love parking there, have a drink or two, then wander over...
  17. Compare building a football team to building a car. The OL is the engine. Receivers are the spoiler. If your spoiler falls off, your car does not go hurtling into the ditch. That's my point. OL is much more important than WR. You're missing HIS point....receivers are way more important than a spoiler on a car. They're more like the tires...
  18. No soccer, no NFL football, definitely no basketball....
  19. Do people actually believe this?
  20. Greg Peach, the back-up: Excellent. Greg Peach, Starter: Your scouting isn't good enough and your DL isn't good enough.
  21. ...Which is ridiculous...
  22. Such an inferiority complex. Listen, all the chest-thumping is patently un-Canadian...unbecoming of Canadians, generally, and Manitobans, specifically.
  23. no kidding. The Jets are in big danger of becoming the Riders of the NHL and that's not a compliment. Agreed. I was in Brandon for the Wheat Kings playoff game on Saturday and was stunned to hear the True North shout out during the anthem. I get it during Jets games (although the circle jerk the fans give themselves afterwards is a different matter) but it's weird to hear it at other events completely unrelated to TNSE. And if *that* doesn't scream Rider Fans, nothing does...
  24. Wow, so much for the big heralded signing of Savio last off-season. Man oh man. Great community guy and everything. Hate seeing that.
