  1. Sorry, I don't buy that logic. The NFL has already passed on them the first time and in a lot of cases their sham degree from "Southern Pinestick A&M" is not going to lead to many employment opportunities in the real world that pay as well as a job in the CFL.. I can't stand this bias against athletes. Find one guy on our roster that is from a school you've never heard of. My brother coaches at the University/National level and academic standing (GPA and attendance) is a high priority for his athletes. That is, unacceptable academic standing means no play (no matter who you are) until it's brought up to the standard set by the University regardless of sport (I believe its around 3.00 GPA and 80% attendance rate). So I think the more practical question, for me at least is, where do American Universities sit with this when it comes to football play and academic standing with their student athletes? My educated guess would be it varies from University to University. That's all well and good, but a lot of the basketball players at BU when I was there were dumber than a sack of hammers, and mostly they took classes such as shoe tying 101 and walking and chewing bubble gum 305. A lot of universities like to claim that they have high academic standards, and I'm sure some do, but there's also a lot of fluff involved in getting the athletes through those requirements too. A required course if you want to leave university with an STD. Not familiar with this particular degree ... Knew some guys who majored in it at Brandon U back in 1998.....classes held daily on the 3rd floor of FLora Cowan Dorm.....
  2. This is asinine.......all of it.....
  3. Both the Montreal tour stop and meeting up with Bombers while there, both posted yesterday.... ...But yes....indeed........
  4. Any competitor worth a damn wants a shot at competing at the highest level......
  5. ...and the other side of the coin is that if you make it harder for people to get to the NFL, they won't come at all.....so you're left with a diluted talent pool.
  6. The answer to Tait's question is in Buff's inconsistency. That uniquely great player he talks about doesn't (physically can't??) show up for enough games in a season. When it DOES show up, it's incredible. But it doesn't show up enough to make it worthwhile and that's why some are "eager" (I think that's overstating things, personally) to deal him.
  7. I want lower taxes, but I'm pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, etc etc etc..... I consider myself "Centrist".....
  8. Realistic? TC 2016.........Hopeful? He told Glen Suitor end of October......
  9. You guys are ******* nerds, but man I laughed...
  10. I'm inclined to agree with Dave's earlier sentiment that Walters basically said "Do the tour, come back to me and we'll top off whatever the highest bid is..."
  11. I honestly don't have the time anymore to game, but when I do, I use the Retro Trio system and play old SNES/Genesis stuff like NHL 97 and World Series Baseball 96...... #OldPeopleProblems
  12. ...on the field at practice today, throwing short stationary passes to Nick Moore, as per twitter. To be honest, I'm impressed he's able to stand without crutches already. Figured he was a ways off...
  13. I'd say the one thing this team is missing is a healthy starting QB......
  14. He worked for the Argos back in the day...he and MOS are buddies from a way back. That said, he's still right about patience....
  15. Sweet. Even better! Wonder why Austin was so eager to move him.. Didnt like hamilton or felt it was a dead end? Eager to move him? Not really. Tajh was eager to play in the CFL and being on Hamilton's negotiation list, they have to offer him a contract. Seen as how they have Collaros, Masoli and Mathews ... not really much room for him, so instead of losing him for nothing, they knew he was highly regarded enough that they could get something for him. Since I have SEEN this a couple times now, I'm obligated to point out "Seeing As How".....
  16. Hurl looks better and better with each passing week. I like Henoc, but if Hurl can hold up vs Messam, he can hold up vs a dinged up Cornish.
  17. CFL News ‏@CFL_News 14m14 minutes ago .@NCMCEVOY - “Honestly, I believe his agent (Jonathan Hardaway) still believes @HenocMuamba has options outside the #CFL.” via @sixbeamers
  18. I haven't really said much about this incident because I think both Stala and Austin can go **** themselves, but one thing I do know: If MOS had done this, I'd be loving it. MOS looks like he could still go with some of the guys on the field...I'd like his odds in a scrap vs Stala...
  19. There's absolutely no question this is Willy's team...and I'm still praying for him to make it back at some point this season.....if Nichols can go .500 or better, awesome.
  20. In fairness, Nichols hasn't exactly had a ton of time to prep either. New to the system, new to the players. I'm not saying he's going to be a dynamo, 'cause I don't believe that, but last week should not be the litmus test...
  21. Seriously? If Matt Nichols plays good enough to even be considered competition for Drew Willy there's no way he re-signs here. I can't even imagine a situation where Matt Nichols is considered legit competition to Drew Willy . With Drew Willy as our QB, we beat the Riders 40-7 last week so let's not get crazy here. Whole lotta this. If Nichols somehow plays well enough to carry us on a run, he's going to become a prized commodity during FA period next year and could be a #1 for someone....but it won't be us. I'm hoping the best for him, obviously, but Nichols isn't anywhere close to Willy. Willy will be our #1 in camp next year, and the Bombers' only goal should be finally putting together an OL and schemes to keep the poor bastard healthy for 18 games.
  22. It's not even a debatable thing...it's really really bad. And that's with God-only-knows how much studio work to try and auto-tune it back to normal. Heard him do it live at a Johnny Reid show one time....I remember thinking "yyyyyyyikes...." and then the song comes down the pipe at work and I just let out a sigh. Good on him for trying...and I'm sure he'll have his fans.......but yikes, those vocals.....
  23. I think the way your question was given as a "if you were the GM..." is what is the issue. You could get the same answers from people if it was something like "What signing do you think would have more of an impact?"Thanks Mr. Professor...you're so smart! Taking constructive responses from someone and mocking them for it. Man, you really know how to do it all don't you. Remember, this is the guy who cried because he felt we weren't thanking him enough for his Training Camp reports. You can't win with some people. I thought True Blue's post was dead on...the wording is what caused the backlash.
  24. Just beyond awful vocals....seriously.
  25. Been a fan of that guy for a long time. All the best in retirement...
