  1. You have Spuds way too far on one end, TBurg WAY too far on the other end. The best place to be is somewhere in the middle of that. I think that's where *most* on here do tend to fall...
  2. This thread reminds me just how short some people's memories are. It's like nobody remembers the first 6 games of the season...
  3. Had seasons in 2006 and part of 2007, while I was living in Morden, working in Winkler, and it's the best money I've ever spent, bar none. Moving to Alberta, the toughest thing was giving up my Bombers seasons. Sigh...would give ANYTHING. You STH don't know how lucky you are...
  4. It's OK, not all fans are created equal, some people just aren't as much of a fan as others and can only support a winner. No shame in being less of a fan than the rest of us. All the fans who have purchased tickets for the last 24 years but still want a team that will be at least 9-9 would strongly disagree with your comment. Being willing to accept poor performances and failure every year would never work in any other business and definitively does not make one a better fan. What's the incentive for the club to get better if all were to accept its failure. A company would not wait one and a half year to decide whether you're good or not. Let's face it, we hired HC's that had no experience and have paid them handsomely while they were learning and perhaps becoming good at their job. Seems we never learn so we get stuck having to wait into the next year to see if the training has pay off. If it hasn't we start again with a new rookie and promises things will be better this time. No, those who while not accepting what is happening but still showing up are the real fans, not those who drank the kool-aid because Jimmy Jones told them to. All I am saying is if you aren't buying season tickets because the team isn't winning you aren't that much of a fan. If I lived in Winnipeg I'd be buying season tickets every year and it wouldn't even be a question. So who said the fans were not buying tickets because the team was not winning. After having been screwed for all these years I think the Winnipeg/Manitoba fan is exemplary. Remember, a fan does not have a seat on the BOD table so he just can't walk up and say:"You guys's system stinks." The only way he can express his displeasure is by using his cash to do something else on game day. The Bomber Club does not have an inherent right to expect fans to show up, it's a privilege it must earn but for years it's a privilege it has enjoyed on credit. Good for you for wanting to be at the game, that would make you another of the 28,000 or so who were there this year. Discount the last two games when many fans decided to speak to the Board. I would actually pay money to listen to the giant burst of laughter that would erupt from the board room if you walked up to them and said that. The hilarity would be infectious...
  5. also, Herp Derp Rabble Rabble!!! (...Just to fit in with the OP...)
  6. You're right -- taking the contrarian point of view toward every decision the club makes is a real fan.
  7. Still young, still learning, needs the reps. If he's your guy, he goes. But absolutely the back-ups will get some time, one way or another...
  8. Nah, that just gives you even more reason to cheer for the East. Nothing like the entire stadium rallying around one team, even if it's not the Bombers...
  9. Well, I'll tell you what...Bombers or no Bombers, I'm making the trek home from Alberta for that Grey Cup week. I want to take some time off work, check out all the socials and events, and the game itself. Was a STH for the 06 GC and had a hell of a time. Would love to do it again...
  10. Except pocket awareness and mobility. He had 'em in spades, in July.....those things don't just go away outta nowhere. He'll learn from what happened this year and get better. Shitty OL, too many hits....gunshy back there. He'll get it figured out...
  11. Ya tie doesn't count. Gotta be a win up...
  12. Well, this is it. Win out, BC lose out, and someone in the East start losing. Need a miracle!!
  13. Interesting stuff, guys -- thanks for the info...
  14. Devin Tyler is hurt...January is rushed back.
  15. Not like I didn't try...but he chose my best friend, so I chose a hot chick...
  16. Well I dunno which specific charity the CFL is associated with but one of those breast cancer foundations is actually worse than cancer. Something stupid like only 10% of their funds raised go to fighting cancer, the rest goes into the hands of the people running the charity. That's a real bullshit way to run a charitable organization. that's the Canadian Cancer Society...the foundations are the ones who put 100% of profits into research. But, my original point stands...
  17. not only that but they sent out multiple messages online encouraging people to come to it...
  18. First time I have ever agreed with Noeller; ^^ this multiple times It's a good feeling, right?
  19. What level of ******* do you have to be, to complain about a cancer fundraiser??
  20. Heaven on earth, right there...
  21. So, as a rural Manitoban now living in rural Alberta, I was only following the City of Winnipeg election passively. Didn't get to know the candidates really well. The more I read, now, about Bowman, the more I think I like the guy. Can someone who's more familiar with him fill me in on the guy's platform? What's he all about? I read "Red Conservative" and that was enough to sell me...progressive, but not at the cost of massive tax raises...
  22. I don't really buy that... Nenshi is focussed on getting the massive sprawl this city has gone through under control, there is a lot of things that the burbs need taken care of and rightly so before they can put too much energy into a new stadium. It's just part of the reality of this city growing as fast as it has. Someone in the private sector needs to take the bull by the horns to get a new stadium in this city. They do need one, and before too long they'll need one badly. Mcmahon is really showing its age. I just really think the focus is going to be on the arena first because Edmonton is getting a fancy new arena and Edmonton can NOT have anything better than Calgary. I'll take it one step further and say that their giant F*** You to Edmonton is a giant arena/stadium project up by McMahon that is mostly funded by oil interests...
  23. Washington took a knee to the head and hadn't practised at all this week. Jeeze Dave, pay attention.....
  24. Need all the good mojo we can muster...
  25. Sounds like it was a Canadian national...32 years old. So unbelievably sad to see this happen on our own soil. Very curious how someone got inside the parliament building with a gun, whether or not it's connected to the Monday incident in Quebec, and how much CSIS knew about the potential for something like this and if it could have been prevented.
