  1. Scripted arguments are the worst. You can't fake it...people aren't stupid. And when you assume stupidity in your audience, you're the one who ends up looking like an *******.
  2. SportsCentre = cheap cheap cheap to produce. Almost zero overhead. That's why it's on so much...
  3. taking the girlfriend in to the city to check out a Paul Brandt concert at the Saddledome, so I'm going to miss it tonight, but it's gonna be on 17to85s PVR, so I'm headed there immediately after the show to check it out. Hoping to avoid spoilers throughout but we'll see how that goes...
  4. Well, here in Edmonton, we (they) got nothing at running back. Starting the White this week, and though not 'officially' released Thompson, the idiot they had in there, is not listed anywhere. My guess, if White doesn't do anything, Will Ford (not Cotton) could be here soon. But I doubt the Eskies trade for Ford, if Cotton shows well I'm sure the bombers will release Ford and I'd bet Edmonton would have him signed in as little as 48 hours provided he can pass a physical. Do you mean Thomas? ....Tyler Thomas. He looked okay early on, but part of the problem is that Edmonton doesn't run the ball. That is as pass-heavy a team as I've seen in a really long time...
  5. I'm more curious to see if Cotton gets touches at RB...
  6. So that makes Cornish, Lewis and McDaniel....yikes!
  7. thanks to Mods for merging threads...I got beat to the punch, just barely......

  9. Kitsilano Maple Cream...a solid choice. Granville Island rarely steers wrong...
  10. parking definitely sucks at commonwealth. There's an LRT station near the stadium, there are quite a few park and rides and 30-40 bars/restuarants that do shuttle service, although probably close to half of that is all the boston pizza locations here (there are BP's everywhere here). Big reason I don't go to many games is the lack of parking, with what the travel time would be I go for the more comfortable seating at home, cheaper drinks and settle for 58" screen and surround sound. The area around Commonwealth sure looks like North Winnipeg. Edmonton is Winnipeg with money...period. Right down to "Old Strathcona" neighbourhood, where Cook County Saloon is (...not that I'm familiar with this establishment or the Chocolate Martini Shooters that Miss Audrey provides....)
  11. I learned a long time ago that you don't know anything about the CFL season until Labour Day. Come talk to me in September and we'll have a better idea of what it might look like in November...
  12. Aaron Woods? That's what it sounded like to me based on tweets...
  13. One of the most amazing things about Calgary, to me, is C Trains. I avoid public transport at all costs because who really wants to sit with all the unwashed masses when you can drive yourself....but I do take it places when we are drinking and dont have a dd. Generally going to Stampede or up to McMahon when parking is going to be so unreasonably expensive and hard to find...we will c train it. Just easier...
  14. So Kelly dinged, and looking like Brett Carter might draw in. Also Paris Cotton back in...returning kicks today. Will he see touches as tailback?
  15. hmmm...well that's no good...
  16. "Fitzy"....love the guy...
  17. Loved this...so awesome to see.
  18. we mock the AFL, yet those guys have a video game, and we don't.......sigh.
  19. ...not only used, but used properly! ....I like words...
  20. Tait is king, no question. In Hollywood, they talk of actors being an "everyman"....Tait is "every reader". He really is just one the boys, and personifies his target audience. One of the great keys of any media is understanding your audience. I'm not sure anyone "gets" their audience the way Tait does. I read his articles and think "I'd just like to sit and have a beer with the guy and bullshit about sports"... ...Now, I say this, and he's going to laugh at me because he does skulk around these boards...
  21. No word yet from the Stamps on who's starting at tailback eh? *edit* Looks like Cornish still not even ready to practice, so likely not starting this week. ...I'll take Grigsby again...
  22. is a team-imposed suspension different than a league-imposed suspension, though? Need to find out why Brown figures fines are better than suspensions. Maybe "max fine" is more money than a game cheque?
  23. Paul Wiecek ‏@PaulWiecek 5m #Bombers HC Mike O'Shea says S Maurice Leggett has a bad ankle and is questionable for Friday night in MTL. #bn
  24. Oh please...everyone knows about that stuff. Hell, Wes Lysack used to be a member of the boards and told us about seeing the girl-on-girl action at Chez Paris in Montreal. That 2005-era team was legendary partiers.....
  25. I can't remember why but Brown was talking about the Hebert club on Cornish and said that fines are more harsh than suspension. Not sure why but hopefully someone has some insight.
