  1. What's the story on how we ended up with this guy? Did we draft him or was he an undrafted FA that we put on the neg list?
  2. I was really looking forward to this one. Brutal to get scooped and now it looks like we're going to be a REALLY young staff with no real superstars on it....
  3. I'm no raging fan of MB, but there just weren't really many options out there. This was a tough time to be hunting for an OC. Lapo mighta been a better OC right now, but I'm not sure that'd be the right situation.
  4. Would this actually work though? A gentleman's agreement like this is risky if this is a guy you really never wanted to lose. Winnipeg has lost communication with him now and have no control over what happens now that he is Ottawa's property. It was big risk to take if this was indeed the plan because the negotiating window for MD has now opened up. Here's the opportunity for them to use their resources exclusively to get Kohlert to sign an extension. Remember that he's the only FA they have. He's also Canadian and the most experienced receiver they have at the moment. Maybe it happens as you say and Kohlert comes back in February, but if I was him, I'd be a little interested to hear what my new team is willing to offer me. again, as I said, its about whether or not you trust a guy and his agent. Do you risk something like this with Frito or Milt in their prime? Probably not. But with Dough Alert? The risk isn't that great.
  5. I'd probably feel a little more sympathetic, if this wasn't the billionth time we've had to resurecct and support a team from Ottawa. **** them and their never-ending futility. If they are successful on their own merit, then great. But not at the expense of our already-lousy team.
  6. If you trust a guy, and you trust that he'll go along with a side-deal that says "...Listen, we want you, but we can't protect everyone. You're a FA, so we're going to leave you unprotected and hopefully they take you. But don't worry...on Feb 15, we'll just turn around and sign the deal we've talked about..." then it's a brilliant move on the team's part. If this is really what ends up happening, then I love it. Good on Walters, good on Dough Alert, good for us and a giant f*** you to the ****** canoes who want their name in all caps.....win win win win..
  7. Well, there was talk that we're gonna try and go after Tsoumpas, but the questions are a) Will he come here and Is he healthy? (PCS)
  8. Renaud soon to marry Winnipeg girl, as well. Tweeted his excitement at being a Winnipegger for life...good for him. I'm a fan of MR9, and hope he can be even better this year if he doesn't have to work as much. That's part of the problem...our ST unit (especially the punt unit) had to work way too hard recently.
  9. If Morley is starting for us then we drafted and used FA poorly...
  10. "@CFL_News: Marcel Bellefeuille is about to return to his post as OC with #Bombers...via @Fifthqtr #CFL" Booo...
  11. Praying we have a wink-wink, nudge-nudge deal with Dough-Alert, and he'll be back in Feb...
  12. lol @ being upset over losing an import WR. Miles coulda been solid, but finding a replacement should be just about the easiest thing for our brain trust to do. Not concerned...
  13. Part of me is glad that this Stubler To Wpg stuff is true, 'cause I was a little worried about Calgary making a pitch for him. Kinda sorta...

  15. Our wiffle-bat budget will be second to none!
  16. please please please please let Mike Kelly be an option........
  17. I was very intrigued to read that on Twitter just now. Cortez I understand, but Lapo turning it down leaves me very curious...
  18. Damn it, damn it, damn it.....I'm finally home for Christmas on the 21st, and was hoping for some sales/autograph sessions between then and Christmas. That equip sale would rock...one year, I'll get that...
  19. Posted in another thread but works here too: for those who want to follow the draft live it will be available on CFL.ca
  20. Interesting note that the draft is going to be carried live on CFL.ca. Might be neat to follow...
  21. http://cfl.ca/article/mock-protected-list-winnipeg-blue-bombers Mock Protected List: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2 Posted: December 09, 2013 12:40 PM Updated: December 09, 2013 01:15 PM Bob Irving | CFL.ca Quarterback - Max Hall: Improved gradually during the second half of the season. Deserves to come back and at least compete for a job. Imports Clarence Denmark – Wide Receiver: Denmark caught 64 passes for 900 yards, great numbers considering how challenged the team’s offence was in 2013. He brings speed and game-breaking ability. Bryant Turner – Defensive Tackle: The 26 year old, three-year veteran at defensive tackle has earned All-Star recognition and is the kind of hard-working, determined player that Mike O'Shea covets. Ian Wild – Linebacker: Wild made a big impression with his speed and awareness in what was his rookie. He’s also a long-snapper. This guy is a keeper. Johnny Sears – Defensive Back: Still only 26, Sears is a fierce hitter who plays with passion. He’s also an intimidating force in the secondary whose only challenge is staying healthy. Demond Washington – Defensive Back: Washington is a dynamic, if at times, erratic defensive back. Just 26 years old. His game needs polishing, but his speed and kick return abilities make him valuable. Jarvis Jones – Offensive Lineman: The 6-foot-7, 305 pound offensive tackle played quite well after joining the team late in the season. The 24-year old from Oklahoma looks like a key component in 2014 offensive line. Glenn January – Offensive Lineman: There’s no substitute for experience, and this 30-year old has plenty of it. He’s a solid offensive tackle who has spent the last five years in Winnipeg after playing for Toronto and Saskatchewan. Desia Dunn – DB/LB: Dunn had a solid rookie season. The 25-year old Fresno State product has speed, savvy and lots of character. Wallace Miles – Wide Receiver: Miles spent nearly the entire 2013 season on the practice roster, then showed tremendous speed and athleticism in a 100-yard receiving game against Toronto late in the year. Only 23 years old. J.D. Griggs – Defensive End: Another late-season addition at defensive end. Pass-rushers are gold in the CFL and this 23-year old flashed some skills in that area. Non-imports Henoc Muamba – Linebacker: Most teams won't protect players like Muamba, who are eligible for free agency in February. But Muamba is coming off an award-winning, All-Canadian season. At 24, the Bombers can't afford to lose his rights to Ottawa. Cory Watson – Slotback: He was plagued by injuries the past two years, but when healthy, he is still a stud receiver, not to mention a great blocker. He appears to be an easy choice as one of the six protected Canucks. Chris Greaves - Offensive Lineman: Greaves is putting the finishes touches on his conversion from the defensive line, a position he played in college. He should be a fixture on the offensive line for years to come. Patrick Neufeld - Offensive Lineman: Acquired from Saskatchewan in the Alex Hall trade, the Bombers consider him to be a big part of their future. He’s expected to compete for a starting spot at offensive tackle in 2014. Tyson Pencer – Offensive Lineman: A 1st-round draft pick in 2012, Pencer missed all of his first year due to injury, and played sparingly in 2013. He still has substantial upside to become another regular on the offensive line. Paul Swiston – Offensive Lineman: The gigantic offensive lineman has been slow in his development, but he's only 24 and it's too early to give up on him.
  22. I have no beefs with Andre Proulx. I honestly think people's negative view of him has a lot to do with his heavy accent. Not fluently English, so he must be dumb...
  23. There's talk the Bombers and Jets are going to work together on a joint project to have the Grey Cup in Nov 2015, and then the Heritage Classic in early 2016. Possible ticket combos and things like that. Either way, the city will be buzzing if it all comes together. Would love to be able to come home for all of that.
  24. I don't think O'Shea's giving a token job to a friend. He knows he's gotta win, and he's not screwing around. If MOS is gonna bring Stubler in, then he's confident he'll be the right guy for what they're wanting to do here. Gotta trust MOS...
  25. ST captain, massively underrated LBer.....frick I loved that guy. My favourite thing about the CFL are the lunch-pail, unheralded CIS guys. Congrats, Frenchie!!
