Lock of the Week 16 Results (Week 17 entries)
Noeller replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'll stick with Cornish -- thanks! -
oh? Tell me what they are cause to me it seems like business as usual here from a players perspective. We don't know who the GM will be, we don't know who will be coaching, there's still no established star veteran players here, all we've done is trade a veteran qb for a backup receiver and trade arguably our top defensive player for a backup offensive lineman. How soon we forget the firings and placement of personnel that is the first step in plugging the dyke. That sent a massive shockwave throughout the league...people took notice. And it seems you're talking about our player's perspectives I was answering about outside our club. Some of the moves you mentioned just don't happen at this time of year...that gets noticed as well. It's quite obvious changes are on the horizon, but I agree the biggest and boldest moves are yet to come, What will cause FAs to consider Winnipeg as a viable team? 1) Snagging a "big name" starting QB. 2) Naming our next GM 3) Announcing who our next coach will be. I think what you're confusing is showing other GMs that Winnipeg wants to do business and showing players. Cause if I was a player I'd still see a team without a GM or coach right now, with a history of losing records, a team that fires a lot of coaches causing lots of turmoil... There is a hell of a lot of work to do to show players around the league that things are changing and it starts with hiring someone at GM or coach or both who has the ability to convince people that things are stable. Well, of course we don't have a Coach or a GM right now. Everybody knows that. But players don't decide right now. Everybody knows that too. But what we have shown them is that the way we used to do things...are changing. We are looking for stability. And the second part of what you said is exactly what I listed, except, in my opinion, we'll be going after a QB right away, while Walters is still the acting GM (I doubt his title would change that early) 3 more games...then the overhaul begins.... Is this like a haiku or something? Iambic pentameter?

...and Collaros could very well be another Spurgeon Wynn. I just don't trust other teams back-ups to come in here and have success....
-
Man, I can't tell you how much I hope the Argos brain trust is like you guys and chooses to keep Collaros and deal Ray......
-
Maybe I just haven't watched enough, but what the hell has Collaros done to get all this hype from people?? I really haven't been that impressed, and haven't seen anything to suggest that he can perform outside of this taylor-made offense that Milanovich has.
-
....and I'd take Burris WAY ahead of Collaros or Demarco, honestly. I don't trust either of those kids in a system outside the one they're currently in. Even if Hank is a short term fix while we train someone else, so be it. At least we know he can get it done in any situation.

what's being said in the post game?
-
Well, sir....these have been few and far between all year so I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna sip my whisky and enjoy the week not being a complete and total joke this time around...
-
Trying to wake up some ghosts today...wearing an early 2000s era jersey with my Milt jersey-tee under. Let's go, boys...gimme something to be happy about for a week...
-
There was at least 2 articles in the FP this week about it...
-
If you have a chance to get Ricky Ray, you do it...period. He's the best in the league, bar none. Need to have an OL to protect him, but without question, if he's available, you go after him. You pay him any amount of money...it doesn't even matter. Can you imagine if we could get Dave **** to come coach, and Frito behind centre?? We'd kill teams....kill 'em.

Mike Kelly Explains Kevin Glenn Cut From 2009
Noeller replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Kelly's largest flaw, by FAR, is as a human being. All the on field stuff is almost forgivable, but who he is as a person....that's what ruined him for me. -
From Jeff Bannon's FB page, there was a discussion about Kevin Glenn's .700 winning percentage since coming to Calgary. Someone called out Kelly for cutting him, and lo and behold, Kelly showed up and explained himself: Mike Kelly you're welcome Cary! Kevin got himself in shape, lost the braces and became focused again so I'm glad the change of scenery motivated him to improve...now I'm sure you also understand the business side of those decisions too, right? Each year is different and there are a lot of things you simply do not know. Our record from 2009 would be a play-off team this year so it's pretty difficult to give equal measure to different years. 2009 Montreal was 15-3, what are the now? Toronto was 3-15 what are they now? 3 of the last 4 years the Bomber record has been less than 2009 and the lone season it was better they went 3-7 in the last 10 where we won more than we lost after Labor Day...LeFors surgery went well by the way but he has chosen to coach high school football and doing quite well...enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend!!

lmao, did you seriously work a leg hump of joey smelliott into this post as a reason for our o-line looking respectable? your a riot man. i call and raise you a season in which buck pierce played his most games without injury AND reids stellar play.. *you're

LOL! Please tell me you didn't type this with a straight face, Mr. Kettle....

It was...it's called a higher ceiling. Give JE some time....

I guess we'll never know. All we can say is that Coehoorn has done far more than Etienne at this point. As he should, as he's like 5 years older with far more training...
-
yeah I'm calling bullshit on that one. You want him to flame out so you can crow about how you knew all along he was a bust. ...and he wants that, as he is a Stamps fan...
-
Anyone with reading comprehension interpreted that interview as Miller saying there's a real good chance Walters stays on as AGM and nothing more, and that Walters is very happy about that. I really think they'll go out and find someone with lots of experience to help groom KW as our "next" guy...

Always trade weight for speed at the DT spot. Doug Brown has always talked about how much weight he had to lose when he came north because he just couldn't run as much as he needed to. This isn't the NFL (thank goodness...)
-
Relax....they're working on it. Let's get the season over with, so we can move on to the all important offseason/pre-Expansion Draft stuff...
