  1. Burke is the GM hey? Criticize the guy all you want for his coaching decisions (and rightfully so), but it's not his job to bring in the talent.
  2. Troy Westwood ‏@TroyWestwood 25 Aug In tracking Pierce's plays yesterday, in his 20 pass attempts he only twice had reasonable time available in the pocket. I love how people treat the game like it's so simple, when they really just do not have a clue.
  3. Hall got hurt on the previous series.
  4. Admittedly, I don't recall a whole lot about Bo Smith, but a friend of mine, a season ticket holder for the Ti-Cats was raving about him to me on Twitter a few moments ago to me. Hopefully he can pick up where he left off and push the guys that are struggling.
  5. Is this type of move against the rules?
  6. I wouldn't say it's the wrong choice. It would have been the wrong choice to start Goltz but Hall showed enough to warrant another look. He just needs to learn not to force things when the team trails, and that will come with time.
  7. Knuckles tweets that it looks like the club is going with Max Hall on Saturday afternoon.
  8. It sets a dangerous precedent, especially if he gets a job in the NFL pretty quick.
  9. The only thing interesting about the thread is that 4, not 8 QB's were included to skew the originating poster's point.
  10. Also confirmed that Doug Pierce will in fact draw into the line up.
  11. One would hope! It's certainly a big window to evaluate him if that's the route they go.
  12. One of the many bits of information during an interview with Tim Burke that Bob Irving had on the CJOB Sports Show.
  13. Definitely was Jim Daley. The team was in obvious decline, and had lost the Banjo Bowl to the Riders, and just blew a fuse. Scary thought had the guy become the owner if his original stadium proposal went through.
  14. That's not how it works. You have to dress three QBs. It's not optional. Not true (unless the league or the PA has made changes in the CBA in that regard). in 2003, the club dressed Khari Jones and Brian Stallworth as their ONLY quarterbacks for a number of games while Pat Barnes was trying out with the Cleveland Browns.
  15. It's not so much that he is seen as the saviour, as simply put he was the best, available person with the most knowledge of CFL offences. I wouldn't read much into his current position having much bearing heading into 2014, if Miller is true to his words as it relates to an "exhaustive" search for a GM, who will obviously want his own head coach, and said head coach will want his own OC.
  16. As I've alluded to many times, clearly the offensive schemes were a big, big issue. Lets see how they, whoever they ends up being, do in an actual CANADIAN offence shall we??
  17. Per Arash Madani, O'Neill has agreed to terms with Edmonton.
  18. If his accuracy wasn't an issue, he wouldn't have overthrown a 6 foot 5 receiver running a crosser 10 feet in front of him as he did against BC. Accuracy, and lame ducks in most contexts, are different things. Goltz doesn't typically throw ducks, his ball placement is just incredibly poor because of his mechanics.
  19. The most important skill for any quarterback, by far, is the ability to read a defence. Goltz is easily the worst at it. Ray is slow as old crap, and throws a soft pass, and makes out just fine. Hall needs to learn to not force things when trailing, and that will come with time. Of course, an OC with a clue would help as well. I'm fine with Hall or Pierce going forward. Goltz takes way to long to process information as it happens, his horrendous fundamentals (his footwork especially) and is a very inaccurate passer. He should be #3 the rest of the way.
  20. Calgary, despite their loss in Sask previously, is a much better team overall than the Riders. They are the team to beat in the CFL up to this point, in my opinion.
  21. Some food for thought, albeit only one game. Last night our gross on kickoffs was 60.3 yards, and the net was 46.3. Through the first 6 games we had a 54.4 yard gross, 34.7 net.
  22. His arm is suspect but accuracy is the least of his concerns. He needs to learn when to put some zip on the ball as he did on a couple crossers, and how to make better reads but that will come with time. Saw MUCH more out of him than we've ever seen out of Goltz. Unsure if there will be something there long term, but he showed enough to warrant at least some consideration.
  23. It happens when you let goofs like Murray Clarke and Andre Proulx be heads of officiating crews.
  24. I'm sure there's a few suites or houses for rent on Mountain Avenue. All kidding aside, it would be great to have the guy brought in.
