Third rounder in 2018 should they win the cup.

He's a pending UFA. It's as good as you can ask for under the circumstances, especially one who has underperformed and been on the third line as a result the past while.

Want to see how good a GM really is - See what he does when he loses an elite QB. Popp has been awful since losing Calvillo. -
This makes me curious about the correlation with the ratings slide and attendance slide that was widely reported league wide in 2015. Some have speculated it was because of so many injures especially with quarterbacks affecting the overall quality of play. That being said I wonder how much of an impact weekday games have had on attendance and TV ratings. I get you need to keep the sponsors happy, but you also need to keep your respective fanbases in each city happy as well, and I'm not sure weekday games are the way to go about that. Personally when I lived in Winnipeg I absolutely hated home games that weren't on a Friday or Saturday.

It's the CFL. The same way many other bush league blunders happen under its umbrella with far too much occurrence for a professional sports league. In the eyes of its cynics, not its die hards, this is a prime example why it has the reputation that it does among many others.

Personally, I'd love it. I decided to watch Sunday Night Football this year instead just based on the fact Tom Brady was playing on the road in Denver and the circumstances around that. For me I'd rather watch Tom Brady (or any elite NFL quarterback or team) play football over anybody in the CFL based on what he's capable of on the football field (the exception being the Bombers of course if they were in the game). I still PVR'ed the game, and would occasionally flip to it during commercials, but I watched next to nothing of it live, and haven't watched a Grey Cup live from start to finish since 2011. That being said I know the CFL doesn't cater to fans like me, and that's fine. My interest takes a significant dive come September unless the Bombers are doing well, and that's largely because of the talent gap between the leagues, and other minor things like broadcast quality, and officiating quality (not implying the NFL is perfect in either regard, but they certainly are much better) However from a CFL perspective, the NFL numbers don't lie. They do unreal numbers on TSN, and that doesn't include people like me statistically as I'll watch Sunday Night Football on NBC as oppose to TSN's feed which has the Canadian commercials. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this either. Moving the playoffs to Saturday is definitely a great move, and a surprising one on their part in my opinion given the above. I know I'll likely be watching because of it.

That's bound to change I'm sure.

FINALLY the CFL gets it. Competing with the NFL is a losing proposition.

Quite the murders row of games weeks two through seven.

I have very little faith Chungh will be here in 2017, and I don't mean that as a reflection of him - Just the reality of the situation and past comments from around draft time that he had NFL aspirations... Considering what the NFL minimum salary is, plus signing bonus money, coupled with the fact it would be paid of course in American dollars and the discrepancy with the Canadian dollar, that's just something Walters can't compete with financially no matter what. It's not nearly as simple as "Get him extended Walters" Even hypothetically if Chungh signs down south, has a cup of coffee and a number 2 and is among the first cuts, he still wins on a financial level much more than he'd win here signing an extension, and he'd also have the luxury of picking where he wants to go in 2017.

Over slept is a cover for sure. Must have been having an internal struggle on what track suit to wear for the day.

"Figure it out later" Lets a Canadian defensive end walk who just registered 12 sacks this past season, after signing four receivers to big time contracts last offseason. EDIT: I should correct myself in saying he didn't sign four receivers to big time contracts. He did trade for Maurice Price who had a hefty price tag, and he spent a good chunk of change on Sir Vincent Rodgers, along with what he's paying for Henry Burris. Bottom line - He shouldn't be running his mouth about spending money, nevermind his history of how he spent it before he was in Ottawa with other clubs. -
Funny...given his track record I'm not sure Marcel should be making comments like this... CFL News @CFL_News 4m4 minutes ago .@REDBLACKSGM - “I would say a number of teams R overspending right now & will figure it out later.” #CFL #CFLFA #RedBlacks via @TimCBaines

Classy gesture. Wish him nothing but the best in Toronto.

He's certainly not wrong, but it's also very easy for him to say considering they're coming off a season where they lost only four times, and we've missed the playoffs the last four years.

Always felt Chapdelaine was a marginally better Marcel Bellefeuille. -

Assuming the above is correct I'll take Messam for that without hesitation. That 70 K can be used for players that we'll also be bidding for. I have nothing against paying Harris that much money. I'm just more so surprised Messam's asking price would be that low. -

Interesting considering all the implications that adding Harris was/is a sure thing.
