  1. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it....
  2. Not too hard when you have Charles Roberts and Milt Stegall in their primes. He was still getting chewed out by Milt and Khari Jones a number of times on the sidelines in his first go around as OC here which I remember quite vividly as my season tickets at the old stadium were behind the Bomber bench.
  3. The "anybody but Bellefeuille effect". Is Lapo better? 100 per cent, without question than Marcel. Is he good enough to get the job done? Not a chance.
  4. We know what the changes will be. Build leads, decent rush stats, good play action calls, and ultra conservative in the fourth quarter with leads which is bound to cost us a couple games a season.
  5. On one hand, the man has failed here twice before which makes me less than excited. On the other hand the lack of experienced, capable offensive playcallers speaks for itself currently. We got the second best (I don't buy Cortez is retiring) person out there that has experience, but he's still a B level coordinator at my best in my opinion.
  6. Blue Bombers ‏@Wpg_BlueBombers 3m3 minutes ago BREAKING: Head Coach Mike O'Shea has found his new Offensive Coordinator. Welcome @PaulLaPolice!
  7. As per O'Shea's Facebook video on the Bomber page.
  8. Good point. If Cortez is as good as some here are suggesting, then how come BC and Sask let him go? The same reason guys like Don Matthews got fired. Coaches are hired to be fired. Nature of the beast regardless of winning. Funny how people throw Sask in there too considering he was the OC of their staff when they won the Grey Cup in 2013, and the offence was one of the top in the league in 2014 until Durant got hurt in the Banjo Bowl. He was a scapegoat when things went in the toilet with Sunseri.
  9. Agreed. Chapdelaine has way too many similarities to Marcel IMO.
  10. From the original post. That's different than his 'opinion would be considered'. O'Shea and Walters should be making the decisions, not Willy or any other player for that matter. No it's actually not different though. Some opinions have more merit than others, Willy's being one of them. It's still O'Shea's decision (sorry, Walters should have nothing to do with it since it's not his coaching staff) at the end of the day. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp.
  11. Tommy Condell intrigues me as well, though there's a risk in that how much of Hamilton's success is him, and how much is from Kent Austin.
  12. Stop being logical please.
  13. You don't think the starting qb should be heard before hiring an oc? They heard his opinion in retaining Bellefuille... just saying. Because a player is really going to say in public they think a member of their coaching staff should be fired.... Give your head a shake.
  14. You don't think the starting qb should be heard before hiring an oc? The team should be run by management, not by the players. Asking Willy for his opinion of coaches he's worked under is fine. Asking his opinion of coaches he hasn't worked under... not so much. Giving him a yay or nay? Nope. You act like it's Willy's choice alone. They'll ask for his opinion - As they should since he's the franchise QB, but he certainly won't be the one making the decision. He's worked under Cortez, so he'll know obviously if that's an offence he likes or not. If your quarterback doesn't feel comfortable running a certain offence, that tends to pose a bit of a problem.
  15. If forced to choose between Cortez and Harris I'll take Cortez easily. Cortez has the championships as mentioned, and Jennings and Lulay are hardly what anyone would call great quarterbacks so I personally attribute BC's struggles to simply a lack of talent than anything else - A big reason why Wally has taken as much heat as he has lately. I think there are better ways to spend our money than on a running back regardless of his passport. Take care of the defensive line so we can get some solid pressure without needing to send the house, and work on the offensive line as well. Offensively speaking, you get much better results with a great O-line that can create lanes for a back versus a great running back running behind a poor offensive line. It just doesn't work. We need to dominate the LOS on both sides of the ball in 2016.
  16. Drew Willy looked very good in his starts under Cortez in Saskatchewan. I'd love to have him over a coach that's already failed twice here.... http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Blue-Bombers-considering-ex-Lion-for-offensive-co-ordinator-spot-360196641.html The crazy season in the CFL — the annual shuffling of coaching jobs that begins after the Grey Cup — has spit out an intriguing name for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The B.C. Lions, in addition to announcing Wednesday Wally Buono would return to the sidelines and act as GM after Jeff Tedford resigned amid rumours he was heading back to the NCAA, also indicated veteran offensive co-ordinator George Cortez would not return in 2016. It’s worth noting Cortez, even before the announcement, was already on the Bombers’ candidate wish list for their vacant offensive co-ordinator position. So, too, is Bombers Hall of Famer Khari Jones, who spent last season as the Lions’ receivers coach. The Bombers would need permission from the Lions to speak with Jones, but are free to chat with Cortez now. The Bombers have already begun the interview process for their offensive boss position and there are a number of candidates said to be on the list, including former head coach-turned-TSN analyst Paul LaPolice, Marcus Brady of the Toronto Argonauts, Jarious Jackson of the Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders interim head coach Bob Dyce and offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine. Jason Maas, the Ottawa Redblacks offensive guru, has long been on Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea’s wish list but he could be a candidate for the Eskimos if their current head coach, Chris Jones, bolts to the Riders for a GM/head coach gig. He’s also not going to make a lateral move unless it involves a promotion, such as an assistant head coach title. All those candidates are likely watching to see what unfolds in Regina, but in Cortez, the Bombers have a candidate they can talk to now. There is also a connection: Cortez was the Riders offensive co-ordinator in 2013-14, working one year with Drew Willy before the quarterback landed in Winnipeg. And Willy’s possible endorsement — or a thumbs down — will play a significant role in who ends up in the job. Cortez has 19 years experience in the CFL, beginning with the Montreal Concordes in 1984. He has also worked for the Ottawa Rough Riders, Calgary Stampeders and Buffalo Bills before becoming the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ head coach in 2012. He was fired by the Ticats after one season, having posted a 6-12 record, but has been a part of five Grey Cup championship teams, four with the Stamps (1992, 1998, 2001 and 2008) and one with the Riders (2013).
  17. Someone fill me in if they don't mind, but how are we (or anyone) able to sign this guy without him going through the draft?
  18. Hopefully he leaves, and likely free up Cortez in the process...
  19. Never been a fan of Chapdelaine to be honest. Albeit better he has too many similarities to Marcel in my opinion.
  20. I find it so comical that those who claim to be so fed up with failing want to bring back someone who has already failed twice here. Priceless.
  21. That's just not possible....he sucks and everybody around here knows it. ******* terrible. Cut him yesterday! Dave Ridgway had field goal percentages of 62.9, 66.7, and 60.5 from 1983-1985. Pretty sure he turned out okay... Liu Passaglia had field goal percentages of 57.1, 67.4, 67.5, 64.1, and 63.8 in 1976, 1980, 1981, 1990, and 1999 respectively. Pretty sure he wasn't too bad either over the duration of his career. I swear people just like to whine and make noise just for the sake of doing so, without considering that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, players in sports will occasionally have a bad year from time to time, and that it is not a reflection on their overall capabilities. It's not even worth discussing kickers like that in comparison to kickers today. The kickers today are much more accurate and expectations are much higher on them. Plus the ease of playing imports there is a big change. Passaglia had 2 seasons 80% or higher out of 25 and was divisional all-star 9 times. Every team but the Argos has a 80% plus kicker this season on their roster as of today. And that's fine, but the point I'm trying to make is to call for a kicker's head after one poor season, especially when he showed just the year prior he can do the job, and do it quite well is simply stupid. Athletes have bad years occasionally, kickers included. It's just how sports works.

  23. In fairness I don't think it's "this place", I think it's just the complete idiocy of 90 per cent of this fan base. Same crap on TEP, coach's show, and on OB back in the day. They just don't understand the game.
