Crosby or Toews as Captain of Team Canada?
Mr. Perfect replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Toews and it's not even close for me. Whiny little female dogs have no business wearing a C on their jersey, especially a Canadian one. -
what would our record be if Willy hadn't been injured?
Mr. Perfect replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's comical the depths people will go to as a means of trying to justify their points instead of realistically considering the impact injuries have on a team. Acting like they don't have an impact on one's season (Look at Hamilton's offence as it is now for example) only makes one look foolish. The big difference between us and Hamilton's situation was the timing. Collaros already had Hamilton easily in playoff position, while for us Willy's injury happened in mid-August. Five weeks is a big difference in a football season. -

Considering Labour Day, and games against Edmonton and Calgary at home, at worst we'd be 8-9 heading into Toronto. -
Mr. Perfect, perfectly said. The name doesn't lie.

Feel bad for the kid himself. As for the Oilers specifically....awww...

Game 11 : Jets @ Blue Jackets
Mr. Perfect replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Nice start through eight minutes. A few too many turnovers however that a better team would surely make the Jets pay for. -
Lawless: O'Shea & Walters to return in 2016
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm going to call you out and say a large Bullshit! Then I'll offer a challenge, explain why keeping Walters and MOS is a good idea. Here's a question, and I realize it's a hypothetical but play along if you don't mind (Others as well if you feel so inclined).Consider the wins we have now this season, and the amount of games we've lost in the final few minutes this year. Now assume we build a solid offensive line, Drew Willy plays 15-17 games (it's rare to play all 18 after all) and we have a new OC - What do you think our record is? Just curious. Who the hell cares? The fact is if this was a GOOD team you wouldn't have to make excuses. Calgary, Toronto, Hamilton, Edmonton, and Ottawa have all had injuries and adversity and come out on top on a majority of their games. Winnipeg gets beat by one injury and the slightest whiff of adversity. If Willy was healthy we win two more games, three tops. If we had a different OC? The same two games. What you are forgetting is that most of our losses were not by a point or two. The point is moot. This isn't a good team or a close to good team playing below their abilities this is a bad team playing at the peak of their abilities. Three of those teams have had the same QB for every game this season (Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa), and the other two have unquestionably the top two defences in the league. Sure all of them have injuries as well, but keep in mind some those teams you mentioned (home games against Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa immediately come to mind) very likely are not losses given the scenario I provided. The injuries they have (nevermind their respective offensive staffs) aren't in the realm of ours either currently.Edmonton Tor BC Mont all qbs issues their gonna be in, we're not. Man the excuses for this regime never ends. BC and Montreal are not good football teams. It's not as simple as QB issues. There are other components. Trevor Harris has started every game, and while he has slumped the past couple of weeks, has given Toronto better than expected production out of the position. They hardly have QB issues. Edmonton has the best defence in the league, and are capable of running the ball. Hell, Matt Nichols won games for them, what does that say? -

Take away Mitchell, Harris, and Burris from their teams, do you think their records are anywhere near what they are right now? Not a chance. I get this sucks right now. I'm not happy with it either. I'm also not saying O'Shea and Walters are without their flaws, but welcome to football. No matter who we have in those positions, there will be screw ups and weaknesses. -

Do we have a running back and decent receivers who can stay healthy in this dream scenario? Maybe 9-9. For the sake of keeping things simple lets assume the changes I mentioned are the only ones in consideration. Personally I don't consider it a dream scenario. No way Marcel is back next year. Start Matthias Goossen at centre next year, find a left guard, and you've got the makings of maybe not an elite offensive line, but certainly a respectable one. 9-9 by the way gets us into the playoffs, just for the record. -

Blue Jackets Fire Todd Richards, Hire John Tortorella
Mr. Perfect replied to bigg jay's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Happy to see John Tortorella back in the NHL. An idiot doesn't win a Stanley Cup, make eight playoff appearances, and win 444 regular season games by accident (First American coach to win 400 games by the way). It's not his fault Mike Gillis killed the Canucks, and it's unfortunate most people's opinions of him are based off of that season, and his temper. If he wins (and his track record proves he does that quite regularly) then that's what matters most. If you choose not to like the guy because of his antics, so be it I get that, but he's a winner, bottom line. Great hire by Columbus. -
When you think about it, do you really want to make the playoffs only to get thoroughly embarrassed by Edmonton? Even if Drew Willy plays, the last thing I want to do is put a guy behind centre, our franchise QB no less in what may be his first game back to face a defence like that against our offensive line.

Not surprised at all by Glenn struggling. A handful of days isn't enough time to learn an offence regardless of how many years experience you have, nevermind that it's not even a good scheme to begin with.

Bombers vs RedBlacks (and Jovon's chirp)
Mr. Perfect replied to Westy Sucks's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So you think you've now proven a point based on 1-2 games? lol. Nichols hadn't thrown an interception in his previous 4 games, prior to last night. Sure he had a bad game last night. Willy has never had a bad game?In his post game interview, Nichols said they prepared the entire week for Ottawa to play man defense, because that's what Ottawa has done all year. Instead Ottawa came out playing zone. It took Marcel an entire first half to adjust to that. Wow. I still think Nichols is starter material in this league with a competent OC. Marcel handcuffs the entire team. Willy has lots of warts too; he isn't some proven, elite stud QB just yet. GBILL - I'll say it again (not that you'll take heed to my comments). I'm an ESKIMO season ticket holder. I've WATCHED Nichols a lot longer than you have. I know what he's all about. I haven't / won't say anything because most people here don't listen to me anyway. All I'll say is this (again) - Mr. Nichols is far far better than any QB we have in Wpg not named Drew Willy and gives us the best chance to win. This is NOT a complement to Nichols, this is a slap in the face to the Wpg Blue Bomber organisation who haven't recruited and developed their OWN QB in 3 decades. There's a reason why Nichols was traded in mid season to the Bombers for a 7th round pick. I still think it's a great trade for Wpg. I still think it doesn't really matter. Though secretly I was hoping he'd (Nichols) would have some success - but he's doing the same things he was doing here. He'll make good plays, he'll make good throws, and he'll also get stubborn and throw balls he shouldn't. His other weakness - he has no leadership qualities - the team here in Edmonton did not respect him at all. All you need to do is re-watch the absolute and utter destruction of the Wpg Blue Bombers here in Edmonton a few months back and the difference in the Eskimos play when Franklin came in in the second half. But you all have your own opinions. I have mine. Nichols is a fine backup QB for us, he won't be replacing Drew Willy, or any other starter, in the league, unless that team wants the first overall pick. Thanks for this. I've watched most of Nichols starts, so you being a Edmonton season ticket holder doesn't really add much, in my opinion. There were a few factors that lead to Nichols being traded to the Bombers for a 7th rounder. I'm not saying Nichols is some stud QB. All I'm saying is that there isn't MUCH of a drop off between him and Willy, in terms of giving us the best chance to win. Both QBs bring different strengths and weaknesses to the table. I think people here are overrating Willy a bit, and not giving Nichols enough respect. I'm trying to look at this objectively...what exactly has Willy accomplished to date?? Personally, I like both QBs, and I'll be getting a Willy jersey next year. I'll be ecstatic if both are with the Bombers next year, and if so, I'd expect Willy to be the starter. But at this point, there isn't much a drop off from Willy to Nichols IMO. If Willy learns to get rid of the ball quicker, he could be deadly, but until that happens, that's a pretty significant flaw in his game. Nichols has his flaws as well. Only this isn't how Marcel's offence is designed. Marc Trestman's for example was, Bellefeuille's is not. Never has been. Glenn never got the ball out quick in Hamilton working with him, Calvillo didn't in Montreal under him (which is why one of his worst seasons as a starter was under MB), and Nealon Greene and Henry Burris didn't either under his direction in Saskatchewan. -

Which makes me all the more impressed with Drew Willy, because he's able to make this offence work despite the clueless bafoon behind it pressing the buttons. -
St. Louis always means business. Should be a gooder!

Bombers vs RedBlacks (and Jovon's chirp)

Quite comical the post made 2-3 weeks ago (you know who you are) that actually stated there wasn't much difference between Nichols and Willy, not that tonight was needed as any proof to the contrary... -

We're definitely in tough tonight. He's just the last person who should be running his mouth. -
NFL trade deadline is not week 6. This year it's November 3. The league and the PA moved the NFL trade deadline to week 8 in 2012. And yes, agrees the CFL trade deadline is a bit late. I wouldn't mind seeing it be the week of labour day, or the week after personally.

While it does improve the QB situation, here's why I don't think it's the end of the world: - Going to a new team, it's going to take time to learn a new playbook. Granted Glenn is a seasoned veteran, he still isn't going to have everything down pat by Sunday. On top of that Hamilton has a top two defence, so I wouldn't be surprised if this week is a struggle for him. - Following that the team is on the road in Toronto, and on the road in Edmonton. Those will be two very difficult games for Montreal to win. - The bad part is Montreal ends at home against Saskatchewan. Pretty much an automatic W. That being said even with Glenn, considering their schedule I think 1-3 is a very real possibility for them. The big issue is whether or not we'll be able to do our job these next three games. Personally I'm much more skeptical of that than anything Montreal may or may not do in terms of wins.

One game lol. Granted a fantastic one game, but still...ONE GAME. May Mike Kelly's quote of a schizophrenic fan base live in infamy. Anyone remember Rob Pikula's game with us when Westwood got hurt? What happened after... Why take anything with a grain of salt lol. Jump in with both feet. Sergio for president/ceo/gm/hc/oc/dc and emporor! Like I'm not trying to be a rooster (the alternative was understandably censored) contrary to what most people may want to believe. If it so happens Castillo turns out to be our kicker for the next 5-7 years, perhaps longer, fantastic. That being said I'm not going to proclaim him to be a kicking savior off of one game. You can make a very, very long list of athletes, football or otherwise that have had one solid game, or one solid debut, and accomplished a whole lot of nothing afterwards. Just a general observation, he seems to have quite the routine that he goes through from the moment he steps on the field, to the moment the ball is kicked. Rather interesting I thought.

I don't think we're giving Nichols enough credit. There isn't much of a drop off between him and Drew Willy. If much prefer Nichols over Tate. Bloody hell...
