  1. But why does Walters have to replace Watson now? Bombers played half the season last year without Watson and when he did play he didn't do much. JFG filled in admirably. Cause we need to have more than 2 NI receivers who can reasonably play next season, special teams too. Carter & Bastien as of today. We spent most of last season with Carter as the 3rd Canadian WR. I'm rooting for Carter to do well as much as they next guy but if he's our third Canadian receiver next year (and he won't be - just hypothetical) then we're in trouble.
  2. He used our 4 draft picks to take Mike Morris, Adam Bestard, Peter Quinney, and Thaine Carter. If those names aren't familiar, there's a pretty good reason. They were terrible picks. Some of that is shared with Taman, as he traded some of those 2009 picks. Kelly let Gauthier, Koch, Picard and Goodspeed walk in free agency. I know Goodspeed isn't a NI, but if I don't mention him, Kelly's "I think we can re-sign all four!" doesn't quite make sense. Some of that is shared with Taman, as he could have extended these guys earlier. Kelly claimed he was going to do a better job of hanging on to our draft picks than Taman ever did. As I recall, we were still missing a pick in the 2013 draft from one of Kelly's many traded picks. None of that is shared with Taman. You'd have to do a pretty comprehensive essay to convince me Kelly added anything to this team other than bloated bombast, including the area of NI talent. I feel like when he said "Mike Kelly added to it", he means he added to the problem, not to our NI depth. But I could be wrong. Yes, thank you. The force is strong with this one...I'll be more careful next time to make sure even the obvious is spelled out for others.
  3. Chris Williams spent the past season with the Bears. He was cut in early December. Yes. But I believe Hamilton still hold his rights for a year and that will expire at Feb, correct? The agreement was that he would have to return to Hamilton for the 2013 or 14 season if he was cut in the NFL and couldn't find work. I don't know that he's technically under contract though with the team (considering how the "agreement" is worded) based on an article I found in the National Post at the time New Orleans signed him. It notes at the time he had a high amount of NFL interest so it may still be unlikely he comes back to the CFL at this point. http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/10/03/former-hamilton-tiger-cats-star-chris-williams-signs-with-nfls-new-orleans-saints/

  5. Kyle Walters just said on 1290 it now looks after all that the Steelers will sign Ian Wild after pulling the offer off the table. That being said he also acknowledged the team will try to get him back should it turn out things do definitely fall through.
  6. Mike Kelly added to it. Taman already had this team in a mess when he departed after 2008.
  7. The only bad thing about this trade, and it's a glaring issue quite frankly... No press conference
  8. I read this on twitter this morning too... this one blew my mind.... Getzlaf is good, yes... but that is a ludicrous amount of money to spend on a 3rd rec... Well .. let's be honest here .. cap management has never been Taman's strong point .. can't see how this is going to help that perception .. Insane amount of money for Getzlaf. The fact that before yesterday that Getzlaf was the league's highest paid receiver is a joke.
  9. Kyle Walters being Kyle Walters. Great move to add a pick in a very deep draft was my initial thought as I woke up not too long ago. I may have missed it in my very quick skim of this thread, but I wonder what this means for the likelihood of taking Demski in the draft?
  10. Best part is, the Jets are doing a lot better than just breaking even.
  11. Word was Foley was not happy... According to Brendan Taman. With Emry, he has many years to play yet, is mean and nasty, does take some penalties. Not sure I would so easily make this assumption. With the history of head injuries he has, and the nature of the position he plays there really is no telling how long he will still be in the league. For his sake, hopefully he can stay healthy especially considering the nature of his injuries.
  12. Considering the free agents we have coming in the next two to three years, it's not worth it in my opinion. We can get the bottom six forward we covet for one of our excess defenders at a lot cheaper against the cap.
  13. Pretty sure that has nothing to do with the question considering the business model the team operates under.
  14. Many will be surprised I'm sure given the QB situations in Ottawa and Montreal, nevermind his comments about Dickenson towards the end of the regular season. Good move none the less for the Stamps. Calgary Stampeders @calstampeders · 6m6 minutes ago QB Drew Tate has signed a contract extension with the #calstampeders --> http://ow.ly/HzLI6 #cfl
  15. I'd be very surprised if both Seattle and New England don't cover the spread. New England has blown out Indy three times in a row under Luck, and Rodgers is far from 100 per cent right now for his game against Seattle.
  16. Darrin Bauming ‏@DarrinBauming 34s35 seconds ago `@renlavoietva: (translated) Perreault has no fracture. However, it is injured and is expected to miss a few games.
  17. Stamps going to Montreal is very similar to Simon going to the Riders at the stage of his career he was win. He may make a play now and again, but in terms of being an elite receiver, those days are gone.
  18. Sure. I could also win 649 this weekend as well. What's your point? He's finished, and has the worst starting QB in the league throwing him the ball. Duron Carter isn't going to be there to bail out that offence anymore. Sure. I could also win 649 this weekend as well. What's your point? He's finished, and has the worst starting QB in the league throwing him the ball. Duron Carter isn't going to be there to bail out that offence anymore. Do you really need to ask what my point was? I made it! It's that Stamps can still be a very good WR. Yes I do because there's no evidence whatsoever to support that claim. This isn't Fred Stamps from three years ago where he was feared by DB's across the league, and he's going to one of the worst offences in the league - Him going there does not change this.

  20. You're entitled to your opinion and so am I. I'm convinced Adrian Peterson is an HGH user.
  21. Oh Marcel, I love you. Don't ever change. Any bandaids we can send them for a young player full of potential??
  22. And this post sums up perfectly the schizophrenic mentality of the average Winnipeg sports fan. Either way too high or way too low.
  23. Interesting how this affects Hall... Farhan Lalji ‏@FarhanLaljiTSN 2m2 minutes ago Mike Benevides has turned down offers from both #Riders & #Bombers to become their DC. Time to focus on family for the year. #CFL
