Yes, because slagging one person shows exactly what kind of person any of us is. And if you were talking about me, I didn't slag him, I said I couldn't stand him as a Bomber. I never said he was crap. Just like myself and others wouldn't like Hank or Tate as a Bomber. Well, the problem as I see it is that the Bombers consider the running back coach as an ENTRY LEVEL position. They have a quarterback coaching the position. He never spent any time as a running back. As Mike pointed out there are a lot of nuances coaching that position. It's not the big stuff you sweat but the small stuff. Without playing running back or coaching the position before at the lower levels, I think it was hard for Buck to come in cold & start coaching up his position players cold. I think the team saying that Running Backs Coach is an entry level position is wrong. A lot of knowledge & experience is needed to coach at the pro level. Or so I thought. Buck's done a decent job as a running back coach here but he should be coaching quarterbacks. That's where he'd shine, I believe. He could use his knowledge & experience to help other young qbs. That being said, he did a pretty good job as a first year coach. he should be commended & not criticized like you're doing Logan. Neither did Dave Dickenson, and he was in that role for the Stampeders in 2009. There's a reason the Bombers consider the running back coach as an entry level position - Because it is one. Other examples of former players coaching positions they never played - Jason Maas as the receivers coach in Toronto in 2013, Marcus Brady in 2009 as the Als receivers coach, Corey Grant is currently Hamiton's running back coach after a career of playing receiver, Joe Paopao spent this past season as the Lions receivers coach, and Kelly Bates spent this past season as the Lions running backs coach. There are obviously many examples of players coaching positions they never played. Just because a player didn't play a given position doesn't mean they don't know what's required of said position. Buck is working his way up the ladder. He'll get to those positions, but right now he is where he should be considering he's just starting coaching.

Disagree he needs to coach QB's. He worked with QB's his entire career considering the relationship starters have with their back-ups and OC's in formulating a game plan. He'll coach the QB's when he's moved up the ranks. The bolded and underlined part of your statement....Based on what?
-
He definitely needs another season or two before stepping into that role. One year in coaching isn't nearly enough to transition into an OC role, even if you're familiar with the game on the field.
-
I recall the contrary. You don't have to be a fan on him on the field, that's fine and dandy, to each their own - But for some to say he was selfish and a cancer to the team last year, which some absolutely said, couldn't be further from the truth.
-
Great find, BFFC, thanks for this. Some loved Buck, some hated him, but I haven't seen a QB truly care and give a damn about the game and his team as much as him when compared to other QB's throughout his career. I recall some saying he was a cancer and selfish last year. Said many times that those saying that didn't have a clue, and that article shows how out to lunch those making those comments really were.

A lot easier to run an offence down south like that than it is up here.
-
With B.C. it's all about the quarterback position. Lulay was never healthy, and when he did play that one game against Ottawa he looked terrible, and Kevin Glenn seems to have regressed in my opinion. Harris played well when healthy, Arceneaulx did the best he could considering who was throwing him the ball, Bighill and Elimimian performed as expected as well. Yes the defence got burned now and again, but that's football, especially in a game that is now greatly in favour of offences considering how rules have been adjusted, interpreted as of late. The offensive line hasn't been that good the last few years, but that hasn't stopped B.C. before from being pretty competitive in general. The big difference this year was quarterback play, and it killed them.

Please Wally, please hire Lapo! Farhan Lalji @FarhanLaljiTSN 1m1 minute ago I would imagine Dave Dickenson & Paul Lapolice would be at the top of the list of replacements. Even though Dickey is Cgy coach-in-waiting
-
Very surprised given his extension. Also think that while he may not be known as one of the better coaches in the league, Wally really screwed him with some of his personnel decisions the past year and a bit.

They may have one in Cameron Marshall. Hopefully he'll still be a part of the team come training camp to get a good idea of what they have in him.

BC Lions Could Get Blown Up But Good
Mr. Perfect replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Personally I'm more interested in seeing what develops with Milanovich and Cortez, but if they aren't options if Marcel is let go, I'd take Khari for sure. -
Yeah he looked fantastic with his 155 passing yards. Maybe, just maybe the reason Montreal is where there are is because B.C. went a combined 13/30 passing the ball, and surrendered over 200 rushing yards in the game. Just maybe...

Marsh also had some comments I saw on Twitter saying Korey Banks never should have been cut. Unrelated to the Lions, but comments that I saw re-tweeted from local writers had Corey Chamblin essentially admitting that next year will be a rebuilding year for the Riders given how many free agents the club has coming up. It will be an interesting offseason, no doubt about it. -
Pencer, Etienne...yep, we've been drafting the best available players for a long time around these parts.... Sadly, those are the guys Mack thought were the best available players. So you're being critical of Walters based on one draft then? Because if that's the case your argument is pretty weak, as usual, nevermind that it's incorrect since we drafted an o-lineman with our first pick in this past draft. What's your angle for your argument exactly? Critical of Walters? WTF? How the heck did you get that from what I've typed? Walters didn't go with the best available player or even the best available O lineman. He went with the best available center who was ranked 9th because that's our greatest need. I completely agree with Walters decision. Walters also said he'd draft an O lineman high and another one late in the draft. I agree with that too. Not sure what's so difficult for you to understand sport. You said we haven't been drafting by position, but by best player available (Which I have underlined and bolded for clairity purposes). My point was that we haven't been drafting the best players available (based on the consensus at the time of said drafts) as we selected Etienne and Pencer with some of our first round picks prior to 2014. You can include the Andy Mulumba pick in there as well. In the final rankings in each year Mulumba was ranked fifth, but picked second, Pencer who wasn't even in the final rankings in 2012, nor was he in the January ranking either, but he was picked third, and Jade Etienne who wasn't in the final rankings either, but was picked fourth. Again, your point as quoted was "we've been drafting the best available around these parts" which as I've indicated in my comments above, is completely incorrect on your part based on where they were ranked and when they were selected. You countered by saying those are players Mack thought were the best available. Perhaps, but we'll never know his logic into those selections - but it still goes against your main point because based on the rankings, and what was being said around the league at the time of those picks, the last things those players were was the best player available. Furthermore, you completely contradicted your comment saying "we've been drafting the best available around these parts" in your rebuttal to my post. You said we drafted Goossen who was ranked ninth - Congrats by the way, that's the only correct statement in either post you made that I've quoted. What you also said in that same post was that "He went with the best available centre...". Now forgive me if I'm wrong (and I'm not, so I'll save you the time) but last time I checked, I'm pretty sure centre is one of the 12 positions on the offensive side of the ball. You said in your first quoted statement that we've been drafting by BPA, and not by need at a position, yet you bring up 2014 and say we drafted based on our need at centre. Do you see the contradiction now in your statements since I've essentially spelled it out for you? With those out of the way, I brought up Walters because he's the only GM we've had draft in recent years aside from Mack. I'm not including Kelly/Murphy as that's too far back now considering when they were in charge. I'll restate my comment in my initial post - Given as we've very clearly not been drafting the BPA as I've indicated (yet you said we've been doing), and that we have in fact drafted by need at a position under Walters (which you said that we haven't, but later contradicted yourself in your rebuttal), what angle exactly are you trying to make in your argument?

Obviously, you haven't been following the Bombers drafts. We used 1 high draft pick on Pencer (Stupid pick) and 1 on Goosen (TBD) in the last 6 years. and a bunch taken in the later rounds like every team does, what's your damn point? The damn point is we haven't been drafting by position. We've been drafting the best available players. Pencer, Etienne...yep, we've been drafting the best available players for a long time around these parts....

Unlikely. Signed a contract extension through 2016 in June. 2016 is likely a team option. Every article, including the one on the team website says "through the 2016 season". It would imply there is no option on his deal. http://bclions.com/article/bene-to-remain-at-the-helm

I'd take Khari over Marcel. I realize the offence hasn't looked good at times, but you need to remember who's been under centre all year.
