  1. Good thing the CFL didn't cave to the PA's picture of sunshine and rainbows when it comes the the health of the league.
  2. Jeffrey Bannon ‏@JeffreyBannon 5m I've heard this before #JB
  3. absolutely. you add someone at the level of a Dressler and I'd have no problems calling the Bombers receivers tops in the league. IMO Dressler is over-hyped, over-rated and soon to be over-paid. His biggest season was 2012 when he gained 1,206 yards and most seasons he's right around 1,000 yards. He does not rank with CFL greats such as Steegal, Simon or Allan Pitts. Calling Dressler over rated, and making spelling errors in two out of the three greatest receivers to ever play the game is about all that needs to be said about the above post... Dressler runs fantastic routes, he has deceptive speed, makes catches in traffic, and he runs a tremendous corner route (which Willy happens to LOVE throwing in the endzone). He'd be a great addition to the team.
  4. Imagine if we had kept Milt, Bruce and Geroy together? Hindsight kills me sometimes. Considering the CFL was uncapped and Bauer forced Taman to a tight budget, I doubt that being possible considering the money that guys like Khari, Roberts, Sellers, Brown, and other elite players commanded at that time.
  5. Gordon put up 1,395 the season before along with 7 touchdowns. 33 or not you don't part with numbers like that. No one had any idea what Simon would become. There was no reason to think he'd be one of the greatest of all time.
  6. The difference is, is that at the time Simon was not better than Milt, Bruce, or Gordon. No one knew what Simon was going to become. He only had 725 yards for us in 2000 before he went to the NFL. There was no reason to overspend for him considering who we had. Hindsight is always 20/20 though of course.
  7. i prefer this approach. Don't get peoples hopes us, Desjardins needs to be careful here, cuz if they don't sign dressler, he is going to look very dumb. "He is going to look very dumb." implies he already doesn't look dumb. See Burris, Henry, and comments about our team around the expansion draft, nevermind how he crapped all over himself while in Hamilton.
  8. Not implying that we can only afford one high priced player, but I'd rather pay that for a quality Canadian lineman in the upcoming offseason. Nothing against Dressler.
  9. One word answer if he'd get into a bidding war for him - "Absolutely"
  10. "We have a high degree of interest in Weston. We'd love to have him here in Ottawa. At the end of the day we're going to move forward and see what we can accomplish." - Desjardins on TSN 1290

  13. Marcel will be on Hustler and Lawless at the bottom of the hour to speak on Dressler.
  14. Darrin Bauming ‏@DarrinBauming 1m O'Shea doesn't see where recent NFL-cut and former #Bombers and #Riders defensive end Alex Hall fits in on his team. Whose job does he take?
  15. The Riders special teams has been awful. Stoudermire will have a field day with this if they don't fix it for next week.
  16. Good on Joe West for playing through that. I know I wouldn't be able to. As an aside....Anybody still upset about not giving Henry Burris the money? No? Didn't think so.
  17. Tell that to Arash Madani. His bitching on Twitter about the expansion draft is laughable.
  18. Hall would be a huge signing for us. I'll always be a fan of Peach's work, but we need an elite pass rusher.
  19. Yeah Kromah sure looked like he was getting run over, and played like crap all night.....damn size issue.....
  20. No one is giving up on him after 2-3 carries. The fact is, granted it's been spot dutym but he's done nothing to show he's capable of replicating the form he showed in the preseason.
  21. Did you see the play early in the game where Grigsby stopped before he hit the line of scrimmage and was tackled for a loss? That was absolutely embarassing. At least Cotton was running forward. Hell the play he got dropped hard by Hebert at least he picked up 8 yards first. If that was Grigsby he would have got maybe 3 or 4 cause a guy would have got a hand on him coming through the initial hole. Grigsby went back in during the 4th quarter and actually stopped ******* around going sideways and running tentative. He actually started to make a decision and commit to it and ran with more authority and go figure he made some plays. I question whether he can do that all the time or not, but if he can then good, but if not I like the way Cotton runs better. Overall I think the biggest issue with the running game last night was the play calling. They did very little to actually give the backs a chance until late in the game, but I can not stand a running back who is seemingly afraid of contact. Of course I saw it. They've both been guilty of it. Cotton's stood out more though considering the down and distance and how he attacked it. As time goes on, it seems more and more like we have B level running backs, though giving credit where it's due Grigsby cut out the east/west garbage in the fourth quarter and was key in pulling out the win.
  22. Unfortunately Ottawa doesn't exactly set a high bar when it comes to quality defence.
  23. LOL - good one. As I mentioned in another thread - Crompton is the real deal. He was always the best looking (as in arm) QB here in Edmonton last year. He's from a first rate Division one University, has size, can scramble, he just needs some polishing and he'll be a gooder. Montreal is set now. As for us - is it me, or is the honeymoon with Drew Willy ending? Willy has not looked all that good last few weeks, including this week. Some very bad overthrows, missing wide open receivers and/or throwing the ball in a bad spot. Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not jumping off his bandwagon, it's just that he's human afterall. He's same age as Crompton and is definitely ahead of him in the development stage but will be interesting to see where these two are when they are 30 (in their career progression that is). Three quarters and Crompton is the real deal? Wow. Lets see how he does now that teams have film on him before we start tooting his horn that loudly. As for Willy - It's as clear as day that the playcalling has been the issue the past few weeks. Yes Willy has made mistakes, that's life as a quarterback, but Marcel DESPERATELY needs to start getting not just creative in his calls, but attacking the weaknesses of the defence. No team has completed as many deep passes as us this season, yet how many times have we tried stretching the field the past three weeks in comparison to the start of the season? Marcel is the big issue here.
  24. Marcel really needs to pull his head out of his ass. His calls are holding this team back. Not really a surprise, this has been his reputation his entire coaching career.
  25. Whether it's Cotton or Grigsby (tonight it was Cotton doing this) don't bloody hell dance when you're trying to convert 2nd and 2. Hit the damn line hard. Worst case scenario you gain a yard and you try a sneak on third and one. I wanted to throw my drink through the TV when Cotton did that.
