  1. I don't think anyone is calling for heads to roll. That would be beyond stupid. This team is on the up and up, that can't be questioned. We lost to the Grey Cup champions by 6 points when Chick essentially had a field day and we had 6 picks. We'll be fine - no panic here. I just thought it's some good food for thought to consider who we have lost to and what those teams do best which is rush the passer.
  2. I really hope this is just O'Shea not wanting to publicly throw Washington under the bus. I might call into the CJOB coaches show this week and respectfully challenge O'Shea on this; this madness with Washington on returns has to stop. Don't quote me on these numbers, but based on my recollection, Washington has 4 returns this year; one for a TD and three for fumbles. Please do. I'd be curious to hear his response. Unfortunately the next show isn't until Wednesday, the day after the Argos game.
  3. Keith McCullough ‏@keithsportsnews 30m Asked O'Shea if Demond Washington would return kicks again, he said yes. Told me 'Demond Washington is probably the best athlete we have'.
  4. Glad I'm not the only one that sees the similarity. To me they are a mirror image of each other, especially during Reid's last year and a half or so.
  5. It doesn't help. No denying that whatsoever. Second and long is a defensive lineman's dream which ties into my original post.
  6. Or a returner that doesn't fumble half of his touches.
  7. Our two losses have come against teams currently ranked first and third in getting after the quarterback, maybe first and second by the time this week is over. If you pressure the QB, turnovers will follow. It happened on the sack/fumble and on the second pick as well. Saskatchewan played a textbook football game and they won doing it. Time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves up and get ready for Toronto. Sucks to lose tonight but we'll be fine.
  8. I highly doubt that to be true. I recall listening on one of his coaches shows here that he said something to the effect that Any Given Sunday was the worst football movie he had seen.
  9. I believe I said 6-12 in my preseason prediction. Looking at our schedule going forward I'm hoping for 11-7.
  10. Amen! Seriously why the hell does anyone care what they say on their message board? Let them be idiots if that's how they want to be.
  11. Regarding the receivers - No one was able to get them the ball. Not a reflection on them, and the new additions (Kelly, Moore) had previously been shown to be quite valuable when used properly. As for Denmark, when given a chance in past years he has been productive. As for Peach and Kuale - Peach has been good, yes. In fact I was one of the people advocating for him in the offseason. That being said he is nowhere close to Alex Hall. Kuale is nowhere close to Muamba either. If the team keeps doing what they should be doing, as they've been doing so far, the last four games of the year won't be a make or break like you suggest. There will be bumps in the road here and there. There is for any team. That being said this team is being run like a professional organization for the first time in who knows how long. That's the real difference both on and off the field.
  12. Nothing against Kohlert but I'd probably take him out. I like him but I don't see how you can take JFG out, and Watson simply brings more to the table than Kohlert. It's too bad because I'm definitely a fan of his but Watson offers more overall when you factor in his blocking ability.
  13. Something to monitor as the week goes on... CFL News ‏@CFL_News 1m Chamblin:"(We have) a lot of concerns. A lot of injuries. We'll have to check on those." via @CKRMRiders #CFL #Riders
  14. But, but, but....why didn't we just pay the money for Henry Burris?
  15. Eagerly awaiting the inevitable Ford questions even though his two touchdowns have been from two yards out.
  16. Frank Burris appears to have gotten the start tonight for Ottawa.
  17. It really wasn't close though. We kept screwing ourselves in terms of field position with penalties on special teams, nevermind the special teams touchdown they got. We had 11 more first downs. We ran 16 more plays on offence. We had 208 more yards of offence than they did and we lost the turnover battle. If Hamilton did pull that game out it would have been because we gave them the game.
  18. For all the love guys like Drew Willy, JFG, Aaron Kelly, and Nic Grigsby (outside of his blocks) are getting for their efforts on the final drive, I think it's only appropriate to give some props to the guys who flew under the radar. - First play of the drive. Glenn January does a great job on Antonio Coleman as Willy moves to his left. If January doesn't have him fully engaged Willy steps right into a sack. Also props to Cordero Howard and Mathias Goossen. Simoni Lawrence came on a delayed blitz and was picked up perfectly by the duo as he otherwise would have had a direct path to Willy. - On the 15 yard scramble Grigsby gets just enough of Brandon Stewart to drive him wide of Willy. When Stewart is chipped off wide, Willy takes off. - Steve Morley does a hell of a job on second and four from the 42 and a half in Hamilton territory. The Cats send five and coming off the end on a blitz is Erik Harris. Morley sees this pre snap and as soon as the ball is called for by Willy, Morley high tails it all the way to the left and perfectly cuts down Harris. The play was good only for a two yard gain to Grigsby but it prevented a sack of seven yards. - On first and ten from the 29, Grigsby perfectly picks up Eric Norwood who Willy would not have seen coming as he was looking to the left side of the field. The play was incomplete but it's quite possible the play results in a sack and fumble given Willy would have had no idea Norwood was coming. It's a great drive to watch over again, especially in slow motion if you can to see how certain things develop. There were a few missed blocks on the drive that didn't come back to bite us thankfully. Ted Laurant was practically untouched when Willy found JFG down at the two.
  19. Even with low offencive production the BB been able to squeek out victories with very little comfort zone except against EE. Low offensive production? We lead the league in most points scored per game, even with the game against Edmonton. Could the offence get more efficient? Sure. But to say that the production is low is flat out wrong.
  20. Where do you see the draft order?
  21. I was hoping Calgary would pull off the win. It's great that we're 5-1 don't get me wrong, but only being four points out of last (I'm assuming Saskatchewan beats Ottawa tomorrow) makes me uneasy.
  22. That TD would have been great for the fantasy team...
