  1. Sack your OC in camp = Your season is done. Yes Smith is playing some awful football but he looked much better last season (yes the completion percentage was low but he still led his team to wins) and would have beaten Hamilton in the playoffs had the official known what pass interference is. Montreal is a train wreck right now because of how they fumbled things in the off season and that's carrying forward.
  2. No because Montreal rolled B.C. two weeks ago. Bad games are a part of pro sports. We'll be fine. B.C. Always beats Montreal at B.C. Place regardless of how weak or strong the teams are.
  3. Harris is more lethal than Arceneaux IMO. Especially when you consider how we leave the flats largely unguarded I could easily see him and/or Logan having monster games.
  4. Playing out in Vancouver has been a grave yard for the Alouettes for the better part of the last 10 years. That being said, Montreal thoroughly dominated B.C. two weeks ago so it will definitely be an interesting game to watch.
  5. I miss sections S a lot. I went to my first two games this season and while the atmosphere was good, section S always added something a little extra. I hope they find a way in the coming years to somehow replicate that fan experience.
  6. Calvillo among other CFL quarterbacks wasn't any speedster but managed to take off every now and then, even late into his career, to keep defenses off balance a bit. I believe it was last game against Montreal's pretty good D-line when Willy ran for a critical first down. Again, we don't want that as a first option on every play, but a couple of sprints by Willy, even for 4 or 5 yards, may have made a big difference against Edmonton. Four or five yards on second and long (the only time Willy could have ran because he couldn't against the blitz) would have accomplished nothing. It's not like we had second and short or second and medium all game. We almost always had a minimum seven or eight yards to gain on second down.
  7. You do know Willy runs a 4.9 40 time right? Unless he has nobody with at least 15 yards of him like he did against Montreal on that final drive, defenders are going to close on Willy quick. He is not a running quarterback, and him trying to be something he's not would be a significant detriment to the team. I'm amazed at how some people talk like they actually know what they are watching, or what they are asking of a given player given their skill set.
  8. I miss football. You know, when you could actually touch an opposing player and not get a 15 yard penalty? Those were some good times...
  9. lol here we go. Willy has been exposed. As what? A quarterback who won't go undefeated? I dunno Mike why don't you tell me what you saw from Willy yesterday? Less than average performance from my point of view. I agree with Mike. How has Willy been exposed??? We lost. We got beat by a better team last night. I would LOVE to hear an explanation as to how Willy got exposed and what he should have done differently considering the circumstances.
  10. There is a lot of truth here that makes me feel much better.. I think you can add the Fitzgerald wiff on a block immediately after the deep reception to Denmark near the end of the first half. Punching it in there would have been huge. Regardless....I think yesterday was simply one of those nights you attribute as just a bad game. It's bound to happen in an 18 game season, and we certainly won't be the only team to have that happen this year. Yes there are areas of concern, no doubt about it, but this is a team miles ahead of where it was last year. The main goal this year was to be competitive with other teams in the league this year and see where that takes us. Three out of four games this year we've been very successful in doing that.
  11. No I don't think the OL was the biggest problem. Yeah they had some bad moments but the biggest problem by far were the receivers. There were times Willy had plenty of time to get the ball out and kept looking and looking and looking but no targets. Everything save for a couple passes were to check down options. And when he did get the ball away the receivers were as likely to drop it as they were to catch it. Grigsby served up 7 points failing to catch a pretty straight forward pass but instead he volleyed it up right to Willis who of course has an easy run into the endzone. When you have five receivers and the defence is dropping eight or nine guys into coverage on second and long because your first down play resulted in a loss or no gain, the math isn't that hard to figure out. Of course no one is going to be open. Even then, it seemed the d-line got pressure on Willy with relative ease. Exactly. Willis literally steamrolling Dan Knapp on a four man pass rush summed up the night perfectly in the fourth quarter.

  13. Agreed. The adjustments and overall offensive gameplan has been suspect at best the last two weeks. Two weeks in a row we've faced teams where the plan should have been to get the ball out of Willy's hands quickly and we failed. Remember the Toronto game and how quick Willy was getting rid of the ball? That needed to keep on happening. Aside from our offensive line play, Marcel's game plans and play calling have not been very good the past couple of games. Not surprising really considering his track record.
  14. I'm sorry but anyone who doesn't think our o-line played poorly or doesn't understand why they are being criticized simply doesn't understand basic, fundamental football. Sorry to be harsh but that's just a fact, end of story. They weren't the only problem, but they were easily the biggest problem.
  15. Not a great night tonight obviously. It's bound to happen in an 18 game season. There will be good nights and bad nights. Have to move on and get ready for B.C. At the end of the day, 3-1 is a great place to be after 4 games. Many teams would like to be where we are.
  16. Wpg Blue Bombers ‏@Wpg_BlueBombers 1m Punter Mike Renaud will not dress tonight due to a lower body injury suffered in warm-ups.
  17. Ray is done? Seriously? Based on what? He's leading the league in passing yards, leading the league in completion percentage, has a touchdown to interception ratio of 5:0 and a QBR of 117.
  18. Montreal has one of, if not the best overall defensive units in the league. It's rarely going to be "a thing of beauty" against them. As long as you get the job done, and we did, that's all that matters.
  19. Well things were rather shitty around here for about 5-6 years after Dunigan left for Birmingham. Granted Kelly was long gone after '96 but it was definitely some dark times are we lost Dunigan.
  20. No people call out your stupid ideas not the upgrading the OL thing. See Nate you take a well formed idea then turn the stupid up to 11 and then get offended when people call you out on it. I'm still waiting for Nick Moore to return from his 6-8 week injury. We could sure use him. Oh wait a minute....
  21. You can have an NFL calibre O-Line in front of your QB - It doesn't protect them from cheap shots well after the ball has been thrown.
  22. Losing a lot of respect for Chamblin as a coach the way he is handling his running backs.
  23. Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk 1m A CFL source says the #Riders are signing running back Will Ford. Gets a signing bonus and chance to be No. 1 tailback.
  24. The only number I'm focusing on is nine. Nine was consistently the lowest number of wins required the last time Ottawa was in the league to qualify for the playoffs.
