I'm getting tired of being right.

Actually they are. Walters said at the time Willy was acquired that he was the guy. Man it sucks when the truth to totally crushes someone's argument... But, wait for "well of COURSE they are going to say that after the trade..." Oh I fully expect it - They'd say why not make that statement right off the start, totally ignoring the position that would put Walters in in terms of negotiations not just with Willy, but with Collaros and Burris as well.

CFL reaches new agreement with ESPN
Mr. Perfect replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yes. Not likely a high number, and certainly nothing near what they are getting from TSN but they would get some sort of cash flow. -
From CFL.ca Every Canadian Football League game this season will be available live to fans in the United States thanks to a new multi-year agreement with ESPN, which was announced today. "We are thrilled for our fans in the United States that the ESPN networks will be the exclusive home of our league there," said Mark Cohon, Commissioner of the CFL. "This is a powerful showcase for our talented athletes, our exciting brand of football, and the CFL itself, a league with a proud history but, more importantly, a bright future." A minimum of 17 regular season games and the Eastern and Western Finals will be televised live on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNEWS. The 102nd Grey Cup will be televised live exclusively on ESPN2. All other CFL games will be available to fans live on ESPN3 across computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices. "Since the early days of ESPN, CFL games have been a valued part of our programming lineup," said Burke Magnus, Senior Vice President, Programming Acquisitions. "I'm proud to see our relationship continue as we strive to serve football fans 365 days a year." The 2014 CFL season kicked off last night as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Toronto Argonauts 45-21. It continues on Saturday, June 28, as the Montreal Alouettes visit the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. The game features the CFL regular season debut for Chad Johnson of the Alouettes and will be televised live on ESPN2. The 2014 CFL season concludes with the 102nd Grey Cup championship game on Sunday, November 30 in Vancouver, British Columbia. "Collaborating with a worldwide leader in sports content like ESPN is great news for our fans, our players and our teams," said Cohon. "It speaks to the strength of our product and the passion of fans in the U.S. for our game." In Canada, TSN is the exclusive English language broadcaster for the CFL and Grey Cup, and RDS is the exclusive French language broadcaster.

I wouldn't say you were wrong, he was my pick too. Willy was two - best part is Willy was #3 for the bombers (they wanted Burris after Collaros went to Hamilton). It's cliche but so true in a lot of cases, and it is here - sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make. We missed on Collaros, and we lost out on Burris. Not sure why people continue to claim that Willy was the third choice for the Bombers out of the three available quarterbacks. Collaros and Burris were pursued first because they were available first. It was well publicized that ideally we wanted both Willy and Burris but obviously that didn't pan out with the ridiculous contract he signed in Ottawa. The team is on record as saying Willy is the player they coveted most. No it's not because he's the one we ended up with but rather because he is simply the best quarterback of the three (what a novel concept), and I would have said that before last night as well without hesitation.

Had him as my flex. Good numbers in that spot.

Tim Burke's Defence ... where have we seen this before?
Mr. Perfect replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I know it's easy to pile on Burke, especially with some of his comments and demeanor but without him I think we can all agree we don't get to the Grey Cup in 2011. He's obviously a much better d-coordinator than a head coach. You don't become an idiot and forget how to coach overnight. -
Appreciate the props. The play that sold me on Willy came last year in a game the Riders played in Guelph. He hit Simon on a corner TD route that would have made Ray and Tucker jealous in their hay day when that was their money route. Was as pinpoint as you can get. Saw Willy go to it a few times tonight.

Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's not about saying anything negative about O'Shea. He's simply doing what any good coach would do for the betterment of the team and despite nearly everyone telling you that, you're failing to recognize that fact. Any coach with a good grasp of team morale would have answered the question the exact same way. -

How about Lyle Bauer? He pulled rank and forced everything in that 2008 offseason. -
Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We aren't lacking veteran receivers, we are lacking younger imports who can improve and maybe become something more than Kelly or Bryant are at this point in their careers. I could understand kicking the tires on a guy like Bryant if say Nick Moore was out for a month or something. Bringing in Romby on his last CFL legs rather than using those snaps on guys who could be that third imp receiver into 2015-2016 is disheartening. Pretty safe to say the scouting at receiver was a failure when none of the guys who attended training camp were even good enough to keep on the practice roster. And obviously it's disappointing that guys like Urritia didn't pan out especially when they showed so strong at the beginning of camp. The issue that I have is people acting as though the entire offseason's work by our scouts is a failure based on one position. You aren't going to hit home runs at every position in the offseason, it just isn't realistic. One offseason of a lack of young quality import receivers does not make me doubt the capabilities of our staff to find those kind of players in the future. It isn't always going to work out the way you hope. Yes past regimes have been able to unearth a receiver here and there but in the long run where did that get us as a team? I'd rather have a "ho-hum" group of new receivers for one season versus season after season of crap QB prospects and hanging on to over the hill DB's as has been the common theme the past couple of years. Overall I'll take this group of players over past groups brought in, in previous years. Quarterback has been addressed, we seem to finally have a very solid running back in Paris Cotton (Chad Simpson more often than not was average at best IMO), Goossen looks like he has all the tools to be a key contributor, and guys like Johnson and Leggett seem very promising. This team, regardless of the new batch of receivers, looks to be very much on the way up, and even though Romby Bryant is not a name that will get anyone excited around these parts I'll give our new team credit for at the very least kicking the tires on players instead of being arrogant enough to think year in and year out a bunch of no names will get the job done. -
Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Of course we did. It's called doing due diligence. It was well publicized that the Bombers wanted both Willy and Burris. Who wouldn't want that depth? However paying a 40 year old QB $375,000 is just about as irresponsible as it gets in terms of cap management. -
Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And that's just it. People crapped all over Mack for not bringing in experienced players. Now we are (and lets not forget, it's a work out, he hasn't even signed a deal) and people are still crying. You can't have it both ways. Is Romby the player he was in 2008 for us? Obviously not, but for those whining and complaining about our scouts, these are the same guys who had Drew Willy evaluated higher over Burris and Collaros (regardless of what anyone thinks about how it all played out) found Paris Cotton, and have brought in guys like Maurice Leggett and Bruce Johnson, so forgive me if I take their evaluations over the geniuses implying the entire scouting class this year was a failure. -
Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
Mr. Perfect replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I love that so many of the people on this message board have a better idea of what a player can offer versus people, you know, actually paid and traveling to various areas to scout talent. Throwing our scouts and regime under the bus before games are played? Give me a bloody break. Unbelievable. -
Bo Levi Mitchell to get the start over Drew Tate

It will be interesting to see the kind of leash they afford both player. Regardless of BLM being named the starter I would imagine it's a pretty safe bet both get a solid amount of playing time regardless of injuries. -
Rod Smith New Host Of TSN Friday Night Football
Mr. Perfect replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Rod Smith use to host the CFL on TSN in the late 90's either before or after Dutch. Thought he was solid in the role and will be so again. -
Farhan Lalji now tweeting that Richardson will sign with the Argos. If he can get healthy, major add for Ricky Ray, not that he needed the help.

Gee, I see it differently: I was impressed by the way Romby Bryant stood up to that schmuck Mike Kelly, gave him the finger, and forced Kelly to trade him away. But by doing that to Kelly, he also did it to all his teammates as well. Kelly was an idiot & control freak. I don't recall all the circumstances that led to Bryant coming to Calgary but Kelly's "My way or the highway wanting to control the message" arrogance led to his ultimate dismissal as head coach. I blame the coach & not the player. His Majesty King Kelly treated just about everyone badly in the Bomber court, fans, media & even Bob Irving. You didn't/don't like Kelly and I'm certainly not going to defend him. But I do remember the circumstances of Bryant's trade. I do remember the absolute lack of effort by Bryant. He didn't like Kelly's offence - fine but that didn't give him the right to quit on the team. I still remember this play in his last game as a Bomber. He made a catch along the sidelines - both hands on the ball - and then the Als' defender reached in with one hand and easily grabbed the ball from him. It's difficult to describe how pathetic the play was - it really does need to be seen - but the one thing it showed clearly was that Bryant didn't care. So, Bryant goes to Calgary & he has back to back to back thousand plus yard seasons. Sure, blame the player not the lunatic coach running the team at the time. Kelly squandered a very good receiver. By criticizing Bryant you're defending Kelly so... But nobody else quit on the team in spectacular fashion like Romby. Derick Armstrong says hello.
