He's not even close to our worst 1st round pick ever. Darron McField.

Locked for obvious reasons.

Jaymar Johnson and CJ Tarver would be my bets.

Who's Jeff Hecht?

Yep - it's useless because the league isn't really a major league. It's not the 'final destination' and 90% of players are not here for the long term. They just want to play and hone their skills for the NFL. Striking won't accomplish that. Guess what though, you live in Canada. The CFL is indeed the major leagues here in Canada. I'm not sure how people fail to understand that Canada is not part of the USA. Why is the CFL not major league? because why? your reasons are flawed, 90 percent of NFL players dont last long either. What makes the CFL not the major leagues in the country you live in? The fact that Canada has like 300 ++ million less people than the USA does? In Canada, the CFL is as big as it gets, therefore it's a major league, just cuz its not on the same level as the NFL doesn't mean it isn't. The NFL should change its name to the AFL because basically its the american football league. You get it now? in Canada we got the Canadian football league. As much as you may want to think that, the CFL is most definitely a 2nd tier league. Name me one American player who dreams of playing in the CFL. Hell, name me one Canadian player who would pick the CFL over the NFL. It's the best we have in Canada and I love it, but in no way is the the #1 football league. The major leagues are where the best players go and they don't go to the CFL. Well said, bang on, on all points.

Because the owners have the means to back up their talk. The majority of the players don't. Missing games hurts them much more than the owners.

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
Mr. Perfect replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The CFL is on record saying they won't lock out the players. It's on the players whether or not games will be missed. -
How did we lose on Burris and Collaros when McManus and company had Willy rated highest? Not a difficult concept to understand. We got the guy we wanted. Period. End of story.

Agreed.

So, you guys wanted us to pursue someone who …..didn't re-sign with his original club after no NFL offers, and …..it was reported he wanted to go 'home' to the east, most thought Montreal, turns out he wanted Austin and the Ti-Cats, and …..to throw huge sums of money at him to try and convince him to come here, meanwhile knowing full well that he wouldn't fit in the system we are running. Have I got that right? Don't care what the excuses for not trying to acquire him are, they're still excuses. Tantamount to Tim Burke choosing to kneel with time remaining on the clock to alleviate the fear of losing! Walters has done a good job of assembling new talent this year but there is no doubt in my mind he has been "schooled" by veteran GM's on numerous occasions. Hope he learns his lessons well and up's his game.

If there is a game, Ford, Alexander, and Watson are confirmed as out. Kuale is "hopeful" as per Darrin Bauming.

Nothing but a hunch but I would be very surprised if there is a game on Monday.

Main Camp Day 5 (Reports and Discussion)
Mr. Perfect replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Kirk Penton @PentonKirk 7m Most interesting news out of today's Mike O'Shea scrum? #Bombers didn't pursue free agent defensive tackle Ted Laurent. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming 2m Mike O'Shea says all four #Bombers quarterbacks will play Monday night against the #Argos. Time for each dependent on OC and QB Coach. -
Main Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)

While i do agree to an extent, i dont see him as a moore or stegall (and thats fine) and he isnt expected to be at this point.. Im thinking hes supposed to be a 3rd 4th option and will be very good in that role.. also, his knowledge of marcel's offense is huge when you factor in the inexperience of our QBs..Not every rec needs to be a simon, bruce or milt.. And he's a good fourth option to have. His size gives you matchup problems in the red zone and he's good to deliver a strike to running a slant or when you need a guy to break off his route at the first down marker. It's not like he has a massive case of the dropsies like many in this league have. Yes he's a slow runner but that's fine as long as you catch the ball which he does. I find most people who say they don't like him simply leave it at that and don't go into detail about what they don't like (perhaps mostly because there isn't a laundry list of things he does wrong). We could certainly do much, much worse. -

Not surprised at all Kelly is showing well. He gets an undeserved bad rap around here but all he does is do what's asked of him. -
Rookie Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)

Every time you see or hear him talk it sounds like he is having a ton of fun I'm curious to see how he handles the local morons (Friesen) when or if the team struggles early on. Oh he's already preparing to tell Mike O'Shea how to do his job.... Paul Friesen @friesensunmedia 7m Went to #Bombers camp today, and had a Mike Kelly flashback. Column on Coach O'Shea's rookie mistake, up later at http://winnipegsun.com -
I liked Dutch a lot when he use to lead the panel back in the day. That being said if the only way to get Rod Black out of play by play would be shifting him into the role I would gladly do that. Always have thought Gord Miller does 10X the job of calling football than Black does.

[MERGED] Bombers sign RB Kevin Smith
Mr. Perfect replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Interesting comment... Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming 38s Mike O'Shea says RB Kevin Smith had priorities outside of the #Bombers and releasing him wasn't a hard decision. -
He signed a three year deal last year with a $5,000 signing bonus. He'll earn a base of $495,000 this year so in terms of his contact he's far from safe. That being said he did get a chance to show himself because of injuries last year to the Packers. He struggled at first but towards the end showed flashes of being capable. I don't know that he'll be anything more from a depth player with the team. However, I don't think he gets cut based on the fact that he was undrafted and managed to work himself into the lineup and have a decent showing. He'll get the full year with the team for sure and unless he regresses will likely get 2015 as well.

Regarding the Sun being a pay site and the 10 article limit - Delete the Sun cookies in your history after your 10th article and you can keep reading. Simple loophole really. -
DB could see a surprise cut too, we have a hell of a lot of rookie DB's. 9 rookie imports, plus guys like Markett, Dunn and a whole bunch of new NI's too. Kent and Hefney cut the last two years in training camp... Speaking of Hefney, any appetiite to bring him back for another look considering the amount of DB rooks we have or has that shipped sailed? Good Lord no. I don't know of any one game he played in last year where he could actually walk away thinking to himself he played well. Huff took him off the 42 after 3 weeks or so I believe.

Rookie Camp Day 2 (Reports and Discussion)
Mr. Perfect replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
LOL - please tell me that you didn't just equate Dieter Brock with Michael Bishop. There's having an arm and a brain, and just an arm. I hope Marve has both like Dieter did (unless he was at the zoo), but we will see. Bottom line - Brock couldn't get the job done. What matters at the end of the day is how many rings you have and he ended up with none and we traded him. Even better we beat him in the Grey Cup with a guy who had half the arm (if he was lucky) that Brock did which even further drives home my point. A cannon arm means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It's only a small piece of the puzzle and far from a prerequisite to be a good quarterback. Until Marve (which is the point in all of this) demonstrates in a game he has a brain to go with his arm, frankly, he's just another likely TCF.
