Out of curiosity why do you think Hervey is an awful GM? Terrible cap management abilities, his scouting is pretty awful, he's a royal ******* to media, he's broken several rules that a GM should know about, I could go on You could say the same about Taman aside from him being nice to the media. Bloody hell... Yeah, his scouting is awful acquiring players like Drew Willy and Kory Sheets. His cap management is just fine. - Does he go about differently than some? Sure, but aside from a handful of years when Lyle SEVERELY restricted his budget, overall Taman's track record speaks for itself, and it's one most GM's would be thrilled to have.

He's an average GM so yes given his mixed results, inability to build NI talent in Winnipeg, inability to find QBs, difficulties finding dbs among other spots, yeah I'd pass. Landed Heenan, LaBatte, found Kory Sheets, and Drew Willy, and has been to the Grey Cup three of the last five years. No other GM can say that. Again, awful track record... Had the first overall pick and took the best rated player, home town advantage, good points on Sheets, Willy is unproven. Wasn't running the show in 2009 and 2010. That doesn't matter - You can't say he hasn't addressed NI talent because he obviously has with those two moves. How he goes about it is irrelevant. The bottom line is that it was addressed. Willy is not any less proven than Reilly was, and Willy has had more attempts and has looked better than Reilly has at any point in his career. Yes he may not have been running the show, but he certainly wasn't sitting with his thumb up his butt while collecting a cheque for the Riders. If he was doing such a bad job, he wouldn't have been promoted to GM, and the team has unarguably gotten better since he was promoted.

I'm pretty sure teams lose their first round draft pick if they go over the SMS cap. The penalties vary for how far over the cap they are.

Speaking of Taman - and not trying to hijack the thread or speculate if Taman would come back, but did anyone see his comments about football essentially being his life and needing to re-evaluate things after the season, does anything think he may step back or take a reduced role in Sask or somewhere else next year? I kind of felt a bit bad for the guy, sounded like the game has really worn him out over the years.

No, but a fricken job interview process would be nice rather than the usual (convenient) Removal Of Interim Tags process. And do you know for a fact no other candidates were interviewed? Do you know for a fact that Walters quite possibly may/may not have had the best interview? Are you seriously suggesting that there's been an "secret interview process" being conducted that neither the Freep, Sun, or CJOB know about? Just trying to get a reading of your personal level of gullibility... No, but with your response you've proven my point in your belief that you obviously think the Freep, Sun and CJOB know every single in and out of the franchise. I get the impression that based on the comments by the ....ahem....regulars lets call them, that unless this team gets Wally Buono, Marv Levy or Pat Bowlan, that they will just ***** and complain about whoever is hired.
