SPuDS replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Buy hey.. You want the "all mediocre" team? Let's get Higgins at HC.. Keep MB... get Greg Marshall for DC and Jim Daley for. ST..then bring in Kevin Glenn to QB.. -

Higgins only wins when he is handed a team to manage.. If he has to actually faces adversity he isn't very good IMO. Never been a fan of his.. -

Higgins for HC... after he gets canned? Man some of you are daft! Higgins is GARBAGE. Was before he went to mtl.. Was why we PASSED on him originally... Christ, you'd think we were 0-7 or something.. -

Hes got lots left in the tank.. Cant imagine why hes benched unless the guy taking his job is just that good.. Doubt he gets moved tho as he is exceptional depth on that dline. -

This is true, but Thomas has been doing more than just being in the right spot and the right time. He's making people miss and making the play. So while our DL hasn't been great, I don't think Thomas is getting noticed because he's the better of a weak bunch. I think he is legitimately playing his ass off and has improved. I agree.. Thomas is playing imo like how teague sherman played when given the chance to start.. Just not as often as he isnt starting.. But making plays whenever he gets the chance. Playing above his pay grade or just hitting that stride... Whatever it is, he has been a beast on run stopping plays. Blows up or thru his block and snuffs the run play. -
Has ANYONE considered the fact that Hurls responsibilties might not be what you want them to be? Maybe in Hall and O'sheas eyes he is doing what is asked of him.. Without sitting down and discussing scheme and defensive concepts with the coaches, none of us have a clue if he is doing good or bad.. Liability he is most definitely not as of late. Also, not expecting a learning curve for the guy (even if he has played the spot before..) is idiotic. Of course he needs time to gel with his LB Mates and know what the dline and secondary are going to do.. The myopic views of people here astound me.. Less then 3 seasons ago people were saying the EXACT same things about Muamba because he was a canadian MLB. Im not implying Hurl is even on thensame field as Muamba.. BUT what i am saying is that even if he reaches 70-75% of what muamba brings.. Then it makes sense. Would be nice if we could see the benefits of having him in there in regards to the ratio to calm some peoples boobie but alas, life doesnt work that way..

Bombers interested in Jasper Simmons, UPDATE: Signed to PR
SPuDS replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You have to admit, calgarys lb core is much more talented then ours with the exception of bass (if current trends continue) randle really ought to be back in the secondary and hurl, while coming along, is no simpson. It cant be at all shocking that we would want to add a simmons to our group after seeing how well he can ball while in ottawa. -

bucknor but honorable mentions to picard (worst bang for buck on roster by far) and greaves (worst regresssion this season)

Bellefeuille probably ordered Marve to stay in the pocket in the second half, and it did affect his play. Our defence played better in the second half but the offence compensated for that by playing worse. Still, had Brohm been in there, it would have been a worse beating than we got against Edmonton.or... maybe but just a crazy idea here... toronto's dc made adjustments that took away stuff for marve? And that could not have been foreseen and compensated for?Marcel is supposed to be a mind reader and just know what toronto is going to change after half?!Maybe he did make adjustments later into the second or third and they didnt work? I get that you're an unabashed homer... but are you actually suggesting our OC has to be a "mind reader" to make successful half time adjustments... I guess Casey Creehan (who we all know and love ) must be a mind reader then? it has nothing to do with homerism.. and everything to do with what transpired.. offensively MB kept it as it was imo. when toronto changed their rush and played more contain marve couldnt run to the left and often was forced into making the pass play.. he was unable to do so... (nerves, finger, flu) MB didnt change his plays and thats evident... but to say the offense went stale SOLELY on MBs hands is wrong. Creehan called a better second half that took Marves strengths away..

well mainly because next to LT, centre is the most important place on the line?

hes the equivilant of the NBA's 6th man. comes in and does excellent in reduced reps.. seems always during run plays and he has a nose for ball carriers and rushing thru blocks.. but i agree full time would be bad. -

id imagine he is right.. probably incentive based contract for tackles, sacks, picks, etc.. frankly, Calgary was crazy to consider paying a guy to sit on a suspended list. if he wants out, trade him for an asset or cut him (doh already happened) and bring a body in who isnt causing locker room dramatics. -

Riders released STer Michael Carter and DB Geoff Tisdale I really hope we have zero interest in both.. -
Why would you do that? The defense has been lights out for a month. Hurl is doing his job, which is often to take an inside gap and play through there. The Bombers are playing the 5-1 front a ton, they call it "Cowboy," with Hurl right up at the line. Bass is making plays from his spot 5 yards back of the line. Not sure why people are continuing on Hurl. He's not a problem, actually playing quite well. Personally I think Bass can cover a lot more ground sideline to sideline so swapping him and Hurl in this defense makes no sense. It's because 2 games in Hurl wasn't playing well and for some reason, people have some agenda with Hurl, even tho i agree with everything you just said. Its because people have such a hate on for Canadian MLBs.. Happened when henoc worked his way into starters role..

? I'm pretty sure he's still with us? Unless there are two Littlejohn's from ND State, something happened and nobody bothered to tell us. http://www.cfl.ca/page/transactions Doesn't show anything about him going to Ottawa... I didn't watch the game so I can't verify if you are crazy or not. You do realize there is no such thing as bad press or publicity to some people, right? Just so they can say "we had the starting Canadian qb!" Or "we are the ones who gave the kid his chance!"
