We "found" Marve. We didn't bother bringing in anyone really this season as our depth chart was essentially set. The guys the riders brought in are horrid. edmontons finds have been looking pretty decent, not going to lie. Ditto Harris in Toronto.

Pretty sure it's bad karma to be picking at the carcass of a not quite yet dead animal.. But that's how you get the tastiest bits....no? Well sure.. But also a face full of hoof or claws depending on said animal lol

See I'm also in that belief that Hurl is a "floater" and cover LB more so then traditional MLB and Bass is essentially a MLB-WIL combo.. Or hurl is that out of position. Can't tell which, lol. He does often seem to be around the ball and spying the QB/RB.. I will say his blitzing is pretty useless.

Yea that's true now that you mention it.. Same deal applies as rider fans attempted to slight him as much as possible once we had signed him.. It was a perfect storm situation for us as they were not in a position to spend starter money to him and Durrant..

Especially as seeing that it wasn't a cake walk TD drive.. The defense fought tooth and nail and made em work for it..

And if he goes for the guy running the up and out as opposed to sideline and it's a TD.. whomever it was running deep was wide open..

The reason we are so set at QB is because they let Willy walk. He was stuck behind Durrant sure but he was leagues ahead of the guys behind him (even tho many claimed sunseri and the other guy were much better).. Their gaffe has been our benefit and I can't be happier lol. For waaaaay too long the shoe has been on the other foot. I know our depth is still paper thin but still feels very good to know our starter IS starter material and tough as nails to boot..

Desperation, taman, it's Thursday.. Hard to say which one lol. I'm just curious when we can trade brohm to the riders for their 1st overall.. Realistically, Brohm will not command that high value. But I'm willing to make pitch and see what can we steal from Taman for Brohm. I know that, mainly saracasm but wasn't it taman that traded Jyles for a first? Not that brohm is a Jyles by any stretch but we weren't in dire straights like riders are either lol.

That's my point. "Better than Brink" did not equal "good QB", just like "Marve is better than Brohm" does not mean "Marve should be starting because he's so good". Many who want rid of Brohm think that Marve will come in and light it up, but like Elliot he could quite easily stink it up, and the coaches must believe that is the case based on not playing him and explaining how he is deficient in the areas they need him to be stronger in. Elliot's riskiness was not just riverboat gambler mentality, it was a fundamental inability to read the defence and exploit it. That was proven by the lack of success on any other team that took a chance on him afterwards. He was not a good QB, and "better than Brink" was such a low bar that people falsely elevated his ability to play because of it and pinned unrealistic expectations on him. I fear the same scenario with Marve now.My point is that Elliott hardly stunk it up, he moved the ball effectively but threw some ints in the red zone. Rather than working to correct that as a normal coach might do, he got the under the bus treatment cause the coach was pissed off as he often was and he liked to bury players who displeased him.Not buying it. If he was as illustrious as you guys are trying to portray, he would still be on a roster and not cut from two other squads.. One with potentially worse QB depth then us..Football is a harsh game, opportunities don't come around often and a lot of players have missed there's never to get another one. BC and Ottawa he was never going to get the opportunity. His opportunity was in Winnipeg but a few mistakes and a terrible coach and his window of opportunity slammed shut.No.. No it didn't tho. Here? Yes.. But in BC and in Ottawa he had 2 more opportunities to prove himself.. Spuds...so tell us who was in front of him when he went to BC and Ottawa...perhaps he got as much of a chance as Marve has gotten here.Well Marves been here 2 years.. Did Elliott last that long? Maybe the rational posters to a degree yes.. But there is ample reasons listed as to why this is.. I'll reinerate again tho.. -marve hurt -brohm is more experienced -brohm is more of a pocket passer These are the 3 that stand out to me as why brohm is ahead of marve at this point.. - when Marve was not hurt....Marve was outperforming Brohm. Once again, I'm going to ask the question, when? When has Marve outperformed Brohm? In practice? In preseason? It's comments like this that make me want to lose it on people. Practice and preseason mean almost nothing. Again, I'm not saying Brohm doesn't suck, or that I don't want Marve to play. I want Marve to play, and I hope he succeeds. But we haven't seen anything from him to say he is better then Brohm yet. The rest of your comments I agree with. Last season? Really? Looks pretty similar to me, other then Marve running a lot more then Brohm. With this little amount of playing time behind Marve, we can't really judge if he's better then Brohm. Again, I hope he is if he ever gets to play because I'm tired of watching Brohm. But you have no proof yet. Every time I hear people say "WE NEED TO START MARVE, HE'S BETTER THEN BROHM", all I keep hear is the past few years bouncing back..."we need to play Brink, he's better then Buck", "we need to play Elliott, he's better then Brink", "we need to play Goltz, he's better then Buck/Elliott", etc... And when they got to play what did we hear from the same people who were screaming and yelling to have them play? "Get rid of Brink/Elliott/Goltz...he sucks!". And that's why we need to bring back Casey Bramlet! That's the one I couldn't remember! Great call lol
