You missed the part where I said with enthusiasm. There's showing up to do your job and then there's showing up to do your job with enthusiasm. The difference is fairly obvious when it comes to Kane. Every player has options. In this day and age, you can force a trade quite easily. It may not happen quickly but players control the ability to basically dictate their future however they choose. Kane dictated his by signing a long term deal here. They have a ton to do with playing in Winnipeg. Especially when a player like Kane goes out of his way to make them. To me the reason Kane's attitude has changed has a lot more to do with the vibe inside the locker room than anything else. A coaching change can solve a lot of problems. Sorry unknown but I believe Mikes right.. Kanes play this season so far has been vastly improved and his attitude in media and social circles are showing me anyway that he is happier and "buying in" this season as opposed to going thru the motions like last season.. So he's either happy and content OR he's playing himself up to look better for potential trades..

Very happy with this signing... Still can't wrap my head around how he got outta saskatchatoon..

Quite surprised by those numbers, even factoring the last 4 home game dropping significantly.

Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
SPuDS replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
wild hurt for a couple games, Anderson lost for the season, vega playing injury all year...can you think of a defence that would be successful with as poor a defensive line as the Bombers had this year?Even before those guys got hurt we couldn't stop the run. That's the thing for me... Even with our personnel at 100% for the games we had them it made no difference. The other thing to consider is every team has injuries. You can't continually use that as an excuse for under performance. If the defense is sound. If every gap is covered from A-D then it should work. We need the right personnel in place. Every time we needed the defense late in games to seal the win for us, they failed. As the game went on, our run defense couldn't get the job done. They were worn out. I saw us out physicalled, if that is even a word... Pushed back 5 yards everytime. Our O struggled, yes. But there were games when it was up to Etch's defense to get the ball back for the O by stopping the other teams running backs & they never did. For me, the first change that needs to be made is who's running the defense & that is Etcheverry.and all those rushing yards led to exactly 1 loss in that Early going. So who cares about rushing yards allowed of it doesn't result in losses? Some of you are just so dead set I your ways and any scheme or design that goes against what you believe HAS to be wrong. Etch wasn't the problem..... But it did result in losses. We could never get the ball back or stop the other teams run games later in the season in the late fourth quarter to seal the deal. That can't be ignored. The defense was terrible. First 6 games when etch had his starters in.. Were we getting ran on like it was going out of style? Honestly, I don't know but I think that when our D-line and LBs started to drop like flies, our run defense went down... -

Yea it's funny how the fire etch mob glosses over stuff like that huh? It's weird, our defense even depleted and getting ran over, kept us in a lot of games.. -

I find it hilarious that people can say "MB gets a pass due to injury.." But Etch doesn't get that same love.. Newman, wild, Sears, Thomas, Vega, Anderson and I'm sure I'm missing a few also were hurt for extended periods of time... In a "complex" defense like etchs, don't you think this plays a factor? I also think a dominant Dline is key for etchs success.. As soon as they tailed off, it was a rough go... Id give etch another season to prove himself again as long as Walters is capable of finding the starters Etch wants in his lineup.. -
Alexander is still here too.I know, he was put to the suspended list last week. I'm not really sure about him though, i'm not sure if he is just battle lot of injuries this year or his game have regressed and got push down on the depth chart by derek jones. He isn't listed as suspended anymore. As for injuries or Jones keeping him off the field, I would guess both. Some of the times he was on the IR wasn't for injuries.this from cfl. transaction pageOctober 31 Roster ... WPG TRF TO SUSPENDED NIP Donovan ALEXANDER (DB) North Dakota Btw, here's the latest transaction for the Bombers November 2 NON-ACTIVE 2-Nov-14 WPG REM UNS IMP Daivon DUMAS (DB) Northern Arizona WPG REM UNS IMP Jarvis JONES (OL) Oklahoma WPG REM UNS IMP Abraham KROMAH (LB) Duke WPG REM UNS IMP Marty MARKETT (DB) South Carolina WPG REM UNS NIP Ezra MILLINGTON (WR) Ottawa WPG REM UNS NIP Kyle NORRIS (LB) Saint Mary's WPG REM UNS NIP Shea PIERRE (DB) Windsor WPG REM UNS NIP Rene STEPHAN (LB) Harding WPG REM UNS IMP Aaron WOODS (WR) Portland State He was listed on the roster, not the suspended list, when I looked. And the roster list is up to date? The transaction is updated almost daily.Bombers have done a poor job of keeping the roster up to date on their website the second half of the season.Didnt alexander retire this year at the end anyway?Yes he did. A big loss. I agree if yer being serious lol.. I was hoping he could play where bucknor was and relegate bucknor to backup.. He definitely wasn't unseating Leggett anytime soon.. Kinda was hoping for one full season for the home town team too but alas..

Matt Nichols named starter this morning.................. He clearly mental once Nichols leg collapses on itself and goltz chokes himself on a TD celebration..

If Lulay's not ready to play at full speed & is completely healthy then what's the point? Might as well dress the nobody third stringer. Even if he's completely healthy he's barely played all season and would be rusty as all hell, so that's why you wouldn't start him, but if he's healed why wouldn't you put him as a backup in case you need him? That shoulder.... No way it stands up to any kind of hits. What a way to treat your franchise qb. Benevides worrying about the short term & not the long one. Franchise QB? Lulay has somewhere between one and three games left in a Lions uniform. Sweet. What's the lotto max numbers on Friday too if you don't mind?

Don't be obtuse.. Games doesn't mean ALL games.. Smh.

We win 2 of 3 vs the Riders with another competent DC. A few other games that I can't remember now where we couldn't close the win because we couldn't stop the run. No, that's not right. We could not turn off the turnover machine in one game, and the offence, when given the chance, twice, could not get it done. The defence was not the problem in that series. Yup. there was a lot going wrong in that series... Defense wasn't the worst of em by far..

Too Little for Ottawa in Expansion Draft?
SPuDS replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Panthers were in the NFC championship game second year first year finished 7-9. Jaguars made it to AFC championship game the same year beat the 13-3 Broncos. Minnesota Wild made it to conference final in 3rd year. San Jose won a series in third year. In five years Marlins were world champs. Colorado Rockies made playoffs in 3rd year."Expansion teams are supposed to suck" ... no they are not .... who put that regulation in your head?1972/73 NYI, 1974/75 Washington Capitals and Kansas City Scouts, 1992/93 Ottawa Senator and Tampa Bay Lightning, 1999/2000 Columbus Blue Jackets, 1980/81 Dallas Mavericks, 1988/89 Miami Heat, 1989/90 Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic, 1995/96 Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies, 2002 Houston Texans, 1993 Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins. Lol. The fact you had to explain it by bringing this list out is hilarious... OBVIOUSLY, they are not supposed to suck... But they do. Almost always. To a friggin tee. -

Gotta love keyboard warriors who hide behind a twitter account... 2 or 3 of those fools need to get arrested for death threats and threats of violence.. I sincerely hope that they track them down or maybe that anonymous hacks their accounts and shares the information to people/authorities... -
Even if he is healthy I don't think you can go to Lulay in the playoffs when he hasn't played more than a couple games this season. That's just setting the team up to fail. Glenn got them there, he's the man to lead them in the game for good or bad. Sure.. Logic dipicts this but do you truly believe this is how it would play out? Lulay healthy, he plays imo. Glenn off the pine when Lulay faulters due to rust or reinjury but i really cant imagine Glenn plays unless he has to..

What? He ran through some big holes, and got tackled by the first guy who touched him as usual. This is what i thought too... Able to hit gaping holes but still down on first contact and still not a game changer.. -
Can't believe TSN would allow every 5 second votes.. Soooooooooo dumb.. I did vote for denmark the required 20 times but when it becomes a rider play... Its gonna be rough sledding..

Too Little for Ottawa in Expansion Draft?
SPuDS replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Curious what your thoughts of what would have been a fair draft?I also have a problem with making an expansion team stronger then the teams they are plucking from. I thought the expansion draft was quite fair. Sure Ottawa sucked this year but they got some good pieces to build with and now get to add with another draft drafting first overall "I also have a problem with making an expansion team stronger then the teams they are plucking from." Why? Why not set up the draft so they have a middle of the pack team and are immediately competitive? Why punish a newbie? Because it punishes a fan base who has supported their team over the long haul. It would be a slap in the face to fans who have invested time and money into their teams only to have it dismantled for the "new" guys. There is usually a honeymoon period with a new expansion team to get over the first few years of losing. And if the fan base can't accept that they don't really deserve to have a new team, because all teams will have to eventually weather those periods. You still didn't answer what you thought would have been a fair draft. "Because it punishes a fan base who has supported their team over the long haul. It would be a slap in the face to fans who have invested time and money into their teams only to have it dismantled for the "new" guys."It punishes no one ... and according to the longsuffering reasoning it asks to subsidize incompetency .... this assumption that you have to "punish" a new team is idiocy and entitlement reasoning No where did I say that a new team should be punished. What I said is that existing teams (and by extension their fan bases who have been supporting them) shouldn't be punished to such a degree, where an expansion team is taking the players that they scouted and invested time and money in developing so that the new team is better then them. You can infer from that that the new team is being punished, but the reasoning behind it is not directly that the new team should be punished. And for the third time, I will ask you again. What would you have considered to be a fair expansion draft. I'd like to know what you thought Ottawa would have deserved to have been gifted to them from every other team in the league. It would have been more fair if held say 2 weeks after free agency ... middle late FebruaryIt would have been more fair if it was set up to have an average amount of personnel so you are not guaranteed to be last or 2nd last before the season started I might be able to buy your first response. But free agents would have likely just waited 2 weeks to sign. They would have made a deal with the team on a salary and sat on it. A player wants certainty of where they are going to play just as much as a team does. They don't want to be plucked off by an expansion team. So in practice, I don't think that would have mattered much. For your second point, it means nothing to me. It isn't quantitative. It means you want something to happen but you have no idea on what it would have took to make it happen. It also completely disregards other posts in this thread about football being about more then just the individual talents of the players. It is a team game and throwing a bunch of players together who are not familiar with one another with all new schemes is going to take time to gel. So unless you are throwing together a bunch of superstars from every other team, making Ottawa into a powerhouse by removing the best players from every other team, it isn't likely to happen. If the draft looks fair & promising all these under-the-table deals won't happen ... what would that look like? Each team protects 6 Canadians and say 12 imports .... The expansion team picks 2 of each They end up with 16 semi decent import starters and 16 marginal starting Canadians ... it won't be a great team but not awful either ... Canadian depth but no stars to speak of .... with god recruiting they could have a real team in a couple of years What! dont you think thats a little much tho? I mean, i like what McManus is doing but could you imagine God as a recruiter? It would be real life madden. That would clearly be unfair to the rest of the league.. -
Geez, you and your brother KK have to get over it. The season is OVER. Willy had a bad game. Move on. Its like they enjoy yelling at a white wall saying "you should.be orange!" Not really sure what pleasure they derive from shoving this opinion into as many conversations as they do when its pretty clear that willy is #1 and gets all reps he could get in HIS FIRST YEAR AS A STARTER...
